I don’t understand why people complain about stiff and tanky controls in RE games. It’s basically the essence of the series. It gives you a sense of helplessness and claustrophobia in a way. It basically adds to the horror element.
Remember how they shit on RE6 for being to action packed where the horror elements was over Shadowed by it? These are the same people that still complain on tanktop controls. I can basically assume that these people who complained on the control layout of every RE games, never played the first RE games from the 90s.
Nice in depth review that is accessible and understandable for the less technically inclined. I played this on xbox 360 and loved it I just got it on Switch and can’t wait to see how the gyro controls etc come in to play!
Good review. Just wanted to point out that the motion AIMING controls do work on handheld mode, just not the motion knifing and reloading (both of which I didn't care for.) But the gyro aiming in handheld is great. 👍
Just started playing this game after picking up my switch again... it had been locked away for 6 months or so. I seriously wish I had more time to play video games...haha. Good review. Fun game. Reminds me of the good old resident evil games from back in the days.
I was hesitant to get the first Revelations because it was designed originally on the 3DS, so even with the graphics upgrade, I was afraid it was gonna end up being clunky, but seeing videos of it, I might just get it
I wish they made a physical release for Resident Evil Revelations 2. I'd rather pay the extra for the physical copy of each game. Having the Resident Evil series on my Switch even with a large Micro SD card eats up quite a bit of space. I'm glad at least Revelations is actually on the cartridge. I loved REV one on 3DS and think it had the best graphics of any 3DS game.
i played it on "New" 3DS and was blown away by how good it showed off what the n3ds could do. thinking about getting on switch.. however i didnt really enjoy it that much on 360.
@@dnegel9546 for a handheld game is was very impressive at the time though the bar for what is impressive on a handheld has completely shifted year over year to the point looking back it can be funny to see the things that were graphically impressive. So much has changed really fast while at the same time it can feel slow generation to generation.
@@exzisd yeah i actually just got RE4 yesterday as my first time playing. on my switch lite and i have to say... graphics look good but... its so clunky.. the tank controls suck.. lol.. still i am enjoying it so far. wish we got code veronica port. and re 2/3. was thinking about just playing all the re games. to be honest if only ever really enjoyed and beaten RE5 (co-op) and revelations.
@@dnegel9546 Yea RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time and while I'm glad it's on Switch I wish they had done a bit more to enhance it. I used to think that way about the controls but I really like the controls now and I think that's how it is; people either like the controls or they hate them. I can understand why people wouldn't like them but I think they work well for the gameplay and giving the player a limited viewpoint and mobility that adds to the tension. The earlier RE game's controls were much more tank like where you had to turn and then move forward and I think they hit the sweet spot for a survival horror with RE4 whereas RE5 was a good game it just took a step too far in giving the player too much power.
@Reviews 2 Go does resident evil Revelations has spiders in it? im realy looking forward to buy it but i just cant handle spiders in games that well thats the reason why i did not pick up the metro games jet sadly :/ they crawl over the screen eww. i know Revelations 2 has spiders but coulndt find annything about spiders in one so if you have played it trough my you can bring light in darkness for me , thanks in advance :)
Thank you for the very good review. I would like to know if there is any extra in the campaign related to the 3ds. Can we play with Rachel in this game? I have the 3ds version and I would like to know if it is worth to buy this. Thank you one more time.
Raid mode i got 800 or so hours in to be able to beat ghost ship you need to grind 100 plus hours for most. Grinding this is addicting as hell. 15 hours for story + raid what bs u on
Thanks for the review this is going to be the Halloween trick or treat for myself hopefully your review brings more treats than tricks if not expect to be egged and TP'd lol
I finished the story mode of this game on the ps3 and I have no interest in playing it again. Now resident evil 5 I wouldn't mind playing again on the switch.
It's more comparable to RE6. You can move while aiming (albeit faster than the slower aiming movement from 6) and moving left and right feels much smoother and less tanky. The main downside to Rev 1's controls is the fact that you have only one movement speed. You cannot dash/sprint.
