Fun (maybe) story. A friend of mine was a HUGE resident evil fan and we had not much money as teenagers at the time. So he was going to the store and stole it. But at that time games were in big hard Plastik shells that only the cashier could open with a special key. So after he stole it he tried to smash the box by throwing it to the ground but not only the box broke. The CD case and the game got also damaged.
I always nearly wet myself laughing at the voice acting in Survivor, Vincent's random English mother being a particular highlight. As you say, it's not the best game by any stretch of the imagination, although I do have a soft spot for it in lore terms, as it's definitely one of the darker stories in the series.
This was mines and brother’s first Resident Evil game when we were little, and I will always remember running out the room when the spider on the ceiling appeared…
There are elements of Survivor's storyline that with better execution could make for rich material for a remake. Much more than what they did to 3 at any rate. Vincent's operation is essentially adrenaline harvesting from third world children, who are abducted by The Men In Black (Will Smith nooo). Its the only game that gives us a clear vision of what an Umbrella cleanup team looks like that still remains canon (unlike Operation Racoon City), and depicts the cleanup crew as being bio weapons themselves. The Janitor is the tragic hero of the narrative; the isolated loner who takes up arms as a vigilante to kill the child harvesting monster who rules the island, and fails due to mistaken identity. I'm of the belief that ideally a remake should improve on a project that had rich potential but didn't deliver, and Survivor is that to a tee.
I wish I had known this video was getting made, I would have linked you to a mod that restores the light gun controls to the NTSC-U/C version of the game.
So fun fact about those 'Gorilla soldiers'. Called UT Troopers, they are a specific type of BOW created to go on a do clean up operations, upon death or completion of their mission, they will combust and dissolve, being no trace. Something very similar to them pops up at the end of RE 8....
It was my first Resident Evil though i already saw my old bro playing RE2, it was....quite something, never managed to finish it and didnt undestood a bit of the story but mostly cuz i didnt know english as kid
im still mad at the narrative that simmons was just a useless ada simp. its pretty obvious he did way more then plot for adas "rebirth" throughout the RE world as he'd been around for years before joining as the security advisor for the govt
Perfect timing! I've got my Sinden lightgun coming soon and I've been checking out all the light gun titles I missed out on in my youth. Never played this one but enjoyed Umbrella Chronicles back in the day and I'm still to try Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (I still don't know the backstory to Krauser and Leon to this day - should hopefully make it at least worth it as I've been wondering since my first playthrough of RE4).
this game has been remade in far cry 5 mad editor and recently hl2. Also there is a resident evil doom mod that you play different characters but it takes place in these levels, also the mod, for doom...is third person. Weird how much stuff there is for this game.
I've never owned or played this RE, only seen it in videos. I'd like to play it for myself as I've played all the other PS1 RE games now. I did have RE Dead Aim on PS2. What a crazy entry that one was...
I had played this with the gun controller and the aiming was better as you can get head shots out of zombies and other creatures instead of the cursor immediately going into the body when a controller is being used.
Im gonna throw this random theory here but ; Ark Thomson was Ethan Winters either based on or a fixed version They look almost the same, personality not far off and obviously their game started as a first person shooter game. Have kind of a feeling that RE7 was a "remake" of Re survivor that cap just wouldnt admit it...
Where can i install resident evil survivor on pc? I had once a cd from my grandfather who buy it in china but i lost the cd and i want to have my childhood memories back. And where can i install RE Operation racoon city with ALL the dlcs since i cant buy it from steam because of localization? And where can i play all the other games that aren't on pc. I know from emulation, but from which sites should i take the emulation? And those emulation can run with mouse and keyboard?
Omg The gorilla guards are the inspiration for the death troopers in Star Wars. Now we know why it sounds like they weee speaking robotic cigarette ash
Good game that earned its place in history. Some very frustrating moments there but also some wonderful graphics and scenery as well as memorable music. It's very similar to a rail shooter but allows for much more exploration. I feel like it takes the best of both worlds; quick and simple action that it's easy to get into and disengage from but you can also take your time and enjoy the music or environments a bit.
More like Halo CE, lots of games copied its controller set up. But yeah, MW1 2007 also did that too. FPS controls were all over the place, try replaying N64 FPS games oh my lord... If I remember my gaming history right, either Medal of Honor or the Alien Resurrection PS1 FPS games were the 1st to adapt more modern twin sticks controls.
I had this game and remember a certain magazine reviewing it as the "hotdog of RE games." It's pretty good though but very short. Gundam Hathaway Opening Theme Guitar MV (Senkou) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c_18SeD_sYI.html
I had this game on ps1 back in the day, loved the tank control games. Didn't really enjoy this game though. Could t use the light gun, and the controller aiming was too slow
Still like to see a remake or remaster of this game, Maybe a option to play it in Re4 and Re7 style. I heard there's a pc Chinese port that seems to a awful port
How is it that the voice acting in this game is somehow WORSE than the original Resident Evil? Now the concept of a first-person RE game was a neat idea, and it wouldn't be until 7 that we would see it done right. Also, how is it that Ethan Winters has more going for him than this loser, Ark Thompson? And Ethan was supposed to be a bit on the vanilla side!
Ethan is a vanilla Silent Hill/Outlast knock off character. RE Survivor definitely didn't get the budget the other PS1 RE games got. I don't think even Shinji Mikami was involved and the devs weren't even Capcom. Itchy Tasty: An Unofficial History of RE covered it.
