I make and restore leather products in my spare time, mostly bags, backpacks and small items like wallets and card-holders. I am still learning a ton every time I take on a new project and always appreciate feedback on my creations.
For the moment I don't take orders as I like to spend too many hours getting the finished product as good as I can : this means that if I were to sell these bags, the selling price would be way more than the bags are worth due to the hours of work involved.
I also enjoy restoring old tools and sharing the restoration build videos on this channel.
As always, do let me know what you think of this video. If you have any tips or comments please let me know by dropping a comment below this video :)

I have an old plane which belonged to my father which looks very similar - I shall try this renovation! Thank you!

James, nice project. Loved the waxed handles, and the time put into sharpening and setting the chip-breaker. The finished tool looks excellent! Couple of comments for future reference: Firstly, primer under the paint will improve adhesion and improve durability markedly, preventing chips and scratches by ‘bracing’ the paint against the metal surface below. Secondly, emery cloth is used dry. An alternative is wet&dry paper, which can used dry or, as it’s silicone paper-based, it can be used wet, ‘washing’ the surface every few seconds to remove the products of cutting and preventing the paper from becoming clogged, rather than just wet to lubricate the action. Use wet&dry in a bowl of water with a little detergent to break surface tension. You can also lay abrasive papers on an old bit of plate glass to create flat surfaces, which will save you from wearing dips and grooves in your stones. An aggressive wet&dry (such as a 80grit aluminium oxide) on a glass plate will create a perfect sole on the base of the plane, for example. Cheers Will

Hiya Will, thank you so much for the very detailed feedback :D This is really helpful for me! Great call on the different uses for sand paper, I definitely can improve on that front and, seeing how long I spent sanding, anything that can help me get better/faster will be a godsend. I should have spent a bit more time cleaning up the tools and paper regularly and will definitely do this more moving forwards. I also need to get myself some coarser grit sandpaper for wet and dry as I was struggling to take off material and still do not have the sole I would want on the base of the plane. Anyhow, thanks again for your advice!

The soundtrack is waaay off, but I watched it anyway as the visuals were self-explanatory. Hopefully, you'll listen to it and see what's going on.
