All of you ladies in your 20s & 30s need to rejoice in your youth. When you get into your 50s you look back at pictures of yourself in your 20s and 30s and can't believe how good you looked. So just be happy with yourselves and appreciate what you have while you have it! And yes Retin A helps a lot!

Been using prescription retinol, tretinoin since it first available 1980’s I am now in my 60’s. Every time I see my Dermatologist and she has a student she always points out how you can tell when someone has been using the product for some time. That’s the high cheek and some of the eye area and of course the forehead. Don’t give up ladies and stop buying products that are expensive just because of the brand, your better off with the real deal it lasts a long time so the price is justified

My Cousin Chris has a identical twin brother named Jeff. Chris, has always taken care of his skin and faithfully uses Tretinoin on his face, neck and chest and has since he was in his late 20's but his brother Jeff is the complete opposite and just uses whatever or sometimes just nothing at all. They are both now 48yrs and when I saw them standing side by side I was completely blown away! Even in the pictures we took, you could clearly see which brother took care of their skin. It looked as if Chris was standing next to his "older" brother and not his own twin!...

Your skin looks great after nine months. It takes time for skin to purge itself. I had cystic acne and no RetinA in those days. No Accutane either. Thank goodness we DID have dermatologists though! That Dr saved my life! I would have had miserable skin otherwise. And now, at 68 we do have those other things and I use them! Don't age "gracefully!" Fight it every step of the way! No sense looking older than you have to!! Take care of your body! You've only got one body and this is it! Be grateful for what you have and take GOOD care of it. Take vitamins, exercise, keep your weight under control, pay attention to things your body tells you, dress yourself in clean clothes, keep your nails trimmed and clean, brush your teeth & hair, & MAKE YOUR BED EVERY MORNING! Sounds crazy, I know, but it's the most important thing you'll do all day. Then say your prayers and get going!🤗💖🥰

Watching this from the perspective of a 49 year old woman, I can’t really see any difference between the before and after shots...essentially flawless before and flawless after. Maybe as we age we stop scrutinising things on a microscopic level and focus more on the obvious issues? These images just show degrees of perfection and an odd pimple...no lines etc. to erase or sagging to lift. I get the prophylactic use, but seriously there was nothing to improve.

So I think the puffy redness was probably just some irritation from the tretinoin? In general my eyelids can sometimes be a little red. It’s not dermatitis, but I know dermatitis on the eyelids is very common. I had dermatitis during my first pregnancy (under my nose and around my mouth) and it seemed to flare up very easily. Make sure you are only using products for sensitive skin, and I would definitely avoid that area with the tretinoin.

Hey Ann! I would imagine tretinoin could certainly help your cause. If you reside in the US, it is prescription. You do not need to schedule with a derm specifically though - you can get it through your general practitioner or whoever your regular physician is :) A more immediate result, but more expensive, would be considering a laser treatment. Specially a CO2 laser. If you go this route, you would do the laser prior to starting your tretinoin treatment :) You would likely wait 8 weeks post laser treatment before starting tretinoin.

Hailee I am so sorry to hear this. I can relate - at one point in my life I was on Accutane. Has your skin improved at all since first starting the tretinoin. Sometimes people need additional help with their acne. So for example some people will be on the tretinoin and also have to use an oral medication for at least a portion of time. But I know you are a student and don’t have the money to see a derm. Have you experimented with dietary restrictions like gluten and dairy? Also, I know it is SO hard. But stress can really contribute to hormones which can contribute to the acne. Maybe try 15 minutes of meditation daily to reduce stress as well? And just remember - you are not alone. The majority of humans struggle with acne at least once at some point during their lives.

@jennarubis1
@jennarubis1 3 года назад
Hey Miss Molly! Are you in the US? If so it is prescription - although you don’t need to see a derm specifically; any doctor can prescribe it. My husband was prescribed it at age 14 for acne. It will definitely help with acne, but just be aware it will cause a purge (temporary worsening) - my purge phase lasted 3 months. The lowest strength prescription from the pharmacy is 0.025 and costs roughly $100 but lasts for 3-6 months depending on how often it is applied (a pea size for the entire face). So it ends up being around $15-30/month. Also - starting at age 49 is not late! The difference is much more substantial in more mature skin :) I use the tretinoin cream (as opposed to the gel) and love it.

Hey Paulina! So the around the eyes can be a tricky area. When I first started my tretinoin journey I tried to put it directly on my brow bone and under my eyes and they got very irritated, red and puffy. To acclimate my eye area, I started doing a “carry-over-residue method” that I talk about a lot in my earlier tretinoin videos (you can find them in my tretinoin playlist). What this means is that I would put my tretinoin on my face and completely avoid my eye area, but then when I would apply my moisturizer over the top, I would smear the moisturizer over onto my eye area which inevitably transferred a small bit of the tretinoin residue from other parts of my face onto the area around my eyes. I did this for a long time and eventually was able to put the tretinoin directly under my eyes and also directly on my brow bone (but jot directly on the upper lids) without irritation.

Can tretinoin fade years of old post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or melasma on dark skin tones?and can tretinoin bring up hyperpigmentation from beneath the skin, what if you are trying to lighten the pigment you don’t want more hyperpigmentation to come up from under
@jennarubis1
@jennarubis1 3 года назад
Yes it can help to fade pigmentation (not sure about bring old pigmentation up, but I have definitely heard this claim from others). The fading of pigment definitely takes a longer time with tretinoin though. I have been on it for almost a year and only started to see the pigmentation changes just before the 9 month mark and it is still continuing to improve. Niacinamide, vitamin C and hydroquinone are additional things you can use to decrease pigmentation - but make sure to do your research on them before using. I use Niacinamide in my morning routine :)

Can someone explain how the term “purge” is used in this skin care situation?😅
@babynur96
@babynur96 3 года назад
“A skin purge simply refers to the reaction some skin has to certain products, namely, retinols and acids. These specific ingredients are known as chemical exfoliants, and because they slough off that top layer of dead skin cells, new ones regenerate sooner than they would on their own, which can bring blockages to the surface and cause irritation and breakout.” I got this from an article I was reading from Byrdie. It simply means you’ll get minor acne symptoms. Hope this helps! 😊

What were your reasons on using Retin A and the Foreo ? Acne? Or aging? I have been at a standstill with my skincare routine for a few days. I had been using Exuviance, and my skin is so smooth from it, face is not completely dehydrated, a bit moisturized, but I could stand for it to be a little more. But honestly that is about the only thing that is noticeable. Here and there, I wanna say I can see results on my fine lines. Yesterday I realized that there are not ANY reviews lately on Exuviance. Reviews are from a year ago and three years ago. So I thought I might try Clarins double serum. But I can not imagine something with only natural ingredients making that much of an impact. Then I see your video. And I am interested in what it is for and what it is. The little tool thingy makes me think this could be a game changer. I dunno. I don’t know what a purge is. Lol. Guess I need to get researchin’ 🥸🥸

Hey Mandy! So I started tretinoin for hormonal acne that would pop up on my chin area, jaw line and occasionally on my cheeks in addition to skin rejuvenation from my years of sun damage and also preventative aging :) The Foreo Luna Mini 3 is a total game changer and I can’t imagine cleansing without it. It sluffs off all my dead skin but in a very gentle way and removes dirt, sweat and makeup like nothing else! Also, “purge” is a term that refers to the temporary worsening of skin (usually in the form of acne and/or peeling) when you introduce something into your skincare routine that turns your skin over at a faster rate (eg retinoids).
