That's a story of a man who made some mistakes and also had a lot of had bad luck. He learned from them and worked hard to make things better. That's a story of a true man. I wish John and he's family all the best.

Wow! It's been 3 1/2 years now? Time flies. Just like Gen. McArthur, Expat John kept his words and returned with more ammunition. Lol Thank you Paul, Roy and the gang for saving an American and his family.

John is tougher than the naysayers gave him credit. Many a man would have buckled under similar circumstances. Two strokes on record and still plugging on? He’s a hero in my book. I will give a Massive Shout Out to John and say Thank you for Stepping up to the Plate and when you went home to regroup you Supported your Children. I know it was not easy but you are a true Man for setting an example for others to follow.

From probably the lowest point of his life, he made such a rather impressive self-rehabilitation and recovery. I guess most of us were somewhat skeptical if he would even be able to support himself. He proved to be a survivor and overcomer. Praise God.

I was highly critical of John’s choices and help given due to his mistakes. Then I realized that we all make mistakes and some are minor and some are colossal. So now I just wish John the best and he’s so blessed to have Paul and all Paul’s supporters coming together

Good on John. I can remember his girlfriend's family taking advantage of him when he was down. When the money ran out they discarded him. I hope he learned a lesson from that and he should keep his eyes wide open when dealing with her family. Congratulations, John 🤨

Great success story! I learned from John and his story. I've got alot of respect for John. It helps me plan for my future retirement. As a man I know I am controlled by 3 different thought processes. My brain, my heart, and my lower trouble making brain. So one needs to stop and reevaluate why I made this decision. So thanks John for telling your story. John has done and grown more in the last couple years than most do in a lifetime. I hope you read this John, your a good man! You just do you and do your best for those beautiful girls. It is very important that all expats or Americans married to Filipina should have a strong support system whatever part of the Philippines. Filipina are the best wives in the world. I know that for sure.. but it is sometimes there are people will take advantage and heartless human beings to put down others..crab mentality syndrome. Thank you to you!! Man that’s awesome, I can’t believe it’s been that long, but I am glad to hear he is back with his family. Honestly, without you and the others there, I don’t think he would still be alive. You guys did an amazing thing. You are a good man, Paul.

I will tell you this Paul, I am truly glad that you retold this story about John. I am a "Pre-John" future expat that is looking for a way to make it to the Philippines. I am just turning 53, and I have decided that I want to look into moving there, as I am sure millions of others, but I am doing it. We hear about the successes of men my age, and the failures. There also is a blueprint and tons of information on RU-vid with videos and vlogs about what to do, and what not to do before arriving. Also tons of information about what to do once you arrive and work on getting settled in. I haven't seen much with video vlogs and series about the journey being told, other then these recounting of individuals once they made it or not. Has anyone seen a channel, or vlog series that might help, inspire, or be a cautionary tale of someone who dreams of an early crossing and settling as an expat? One that doesn't have large sums of money, or have an established remote job. Another beautiful aspect of the Philippines, aside from its people and majestic islands, is this extraordinary expat community! Yes there are quite a few bad actors, and others that might take the community off the list from being anointed into sainthood, but it is a strong and diverse one. Why wouldn't, myself, and countless others wish to become part of this brotherhood. I will be visiting several times beforehand, but as of right now, I am set, and working towards my own blueprint. But I hope to see if there is a niche that I could find about a first person ongoing story, or maybe create one?? Regardless, John, my brother, you are an inspiration of what a true Man amongst men. I pray for you, and your family, and hope that this will inspire others, that might be heading down that possible road in life, as to 'Man Up', own your your mistakes, take responsibility, and persevere in regards to you, your family, and your dream here in the Philippines. I remember seeing Jon and he looked like a skeleton and you could see on his face and hear the stress in his voice. You all did a fantastic job helping him. Kudos ! At first I thought he might be a little slow, but one of your interviews showed he is very cognizant! I think everyone helped because there by the grace of GOD go I. We all have had a Jon in our life, when life deals them a severe blow. I’m proud of Jon for never giving up and making this a success story.
