I know with posting this video I could potentially lose a lot of fans, supporters, and subscribers. That is a huge risk, but I have to be true to myself and true to you guys. I have always preached to follow your passion. No matter what others say, no matter how much money you can make, no matter what...if you love something and wake up every morning and can't stop thinking about it...you got to go for it. That was the mentality I took with frisbee and now I'm doing the same thing for golf. I still love frisbee and will be posting frisbee videos, but that driving fire passion I once had is gone and is now leading me towards golf. What does the future hold for me, I honestly have no idea. All I know is I want to push myself as hard as I can and see how good I get at golf.
For those that will be unsubscribing/leaving, I want to thank you for all the support you have given me over the years. I have been able to do things I never thought were possible and for that I'm grateful that you were a part of making that happen. For those that are staying around and watching this new journey in my life, thank you. I'm excited to see where this goes and what new opportunities lie ahead.
And just to be super clear I will still be posting frisbee content, frisbee trick shots, battles and such...the Darkhorse is just going to be getting freaky with golf and see what happens! LETS SHAKE IT UP!!!

Waddup Brodie Now seems as good a time as ever to say thank you for the impact you’ve had on my life. I started playing ultimate on my high school’s club team, and every year since my life has revolved around it. My friends and I used to watch your ultimate trick shot videos as you would put them out and dude it was so hype for us when we saw you start to gain popularity. To us, you were providing some sort of legitimacy to this incredibly fun sport that a lot of people sorta had a negative stigma towards. Your videos kept me interested and engaged in ultimate, and through that I have had some of the most amazing opportunities in my life. I made the University of Illinois’ A-team my freshman year, and now I enter my senior year as it’s captain. Last fall I was invited to the 2nd round of tryouts for the Wildfire, a team that I first became aware of through you. For the past 8 years, most of my life’s decisions have been based around ultimate. It has amazing to see it grow and know that I am contributing. For years you represented the potential ultimate had as a sport, and now I want nothing more than to become better at it. That all stems from your infectious passion for the game that I saw as a freshman in high school. Thank you. Darkhorse

OK I'll stop messing with you. Go look at the subreddit for ultimate. They are discussing the GOAT male players. Brodie is not considered to be in the first tier. He's definitely in the trick shot GOAT discussion though. And he's a fine youtuber.

Ever since I saw your first video with dudeperfect years ago I was hooked on the sport of ultimate. I watched every video that you had ever posted and my thoughts were constantly filled with frisbee. I even made a few quick trick shot videos when I was younger! I still have a screenshot on my phone of when you liked my very first instagram post of my disc wall which had some of your signed frisbees. Growing up in Ottawa, the high school ultimate scene was veeeery recreational and so my friends and peers didn't really take me seriously and I got made fun of a lot for being so obsessed with "a toy that is meant for using at the beach". That changed when we got a new coach and people actually started to like frisbee and respect ultimate as a sport. By my grade 12 year, we were a powerhouse team who won every tournament we ever entered at the high school level thanks to our fun yet simple huck and chase game. Currently, I play on a club team at Acadia University in eastern Canada. To this day, I wouldn't consider myself a great ultimate player, but nevertheless, you inspired me to go after something that I was passionate and learn something new. I apply that mindset to my life every day and I am constantly finding new things (mostly sports) that I really enjoy and put everything I have into them for a couple of months just to improve my overall athleticism and have fun in the process. I have the utmost respect for you Brodie, I grew up watching your videos and you inspired me and have helped shape the person that I am today. I will always be a fan of yours. if your not into frisbee as much but are still good and you play golf, you could always combine the two and play disc golf. i could see you turning into a pro as a disc golfer because you already have a foundation and you know someone who could very possibly tutor you, Avery Jenkins. i used to love playing ultimate but i found disc golf and it was very fun. try it out Brodie, you might like it.

You have to do what you feel is right. I had to quit football and baseball so I turned to golf. Definitely looking forward to the golf videos maybe it will help me improve too. Would love to play a round of golf sometime.

This video hits home for me right now in my life. First off I am going to play in an Ultimate tournament in the Richardson Corporate Challenge. Picture a lot of people that spend time behind keyboards going out to play ultimate for the first time. So I have been watching a crap ton of your videos on how to throw better. My 10 year old has a pretty mean thumber. And secondly, my oldest has just retired from competitive gymnastics after 10 years due to a back injury. So we are trying to find that new passion for her as well. I'm sure you'll do well in whatever it is you put yourself into, and golf is a good place to do that. Not sure what part of Dallas you are in, but I am over just east of Plano and play a few courses in the area.

I actually had done almost the same thing to my knee this past year when I didn't pivot my knee right and leg got locked up in a 90 degree angle. I eventually had to get surgery for a torn meniscus and man, did it suck.

For whatever happens you know and we all know you got this. You got me into ultimate frisbee and loved since the first time you ever posted a frisbee video. I consider you as my sports idol. Anyone who tells me who’s my idol I always just say two people “Katy Perry and Brodie Smith” why because they got me trough rough things throughout high school and they got me going and believing I can do great things in life just gotta know if you got a dream you gotta go on a journey to fulfill that dream. Not trying to be a douche, but I'm really just wondering: why didn't you spend more time visiting sport-specialized doctors or simply doctors in general? I can understand the first injury and reacting that way, but any other major injury after that I would think you'd have reservations. Especially since it seems like some simple medical advice was all it would've taken to really help you make some better decisions in regards to the health of your knees. Was it not financially feasible, did you go and get bad advice, did you simply still have the Superman complex coursing through you? Either way, I really thank you for everything that you have done and will continue to do for Ultimate Frisbee. You introduced my friends and myself to the game that we all really bonded over while also bringing it to the eyes of many, many more and I'm truly grateful. Best of luck in your golfing future and improving your game, I'll definitely be watching.

Disc Golf? Disc Golf is certainly more environmentally sustainable then club and ball golf. I grew up playing golf and I love the game, but I have had to come to the reckoning that it is a massive waste of good drinking water. I find Disc Golf to be just as much fun and way less wasteful. Anyways, you're a pretty damn talented athlete, so I'm sure whatever you do, you'll be good at it. Cheers!

I had developmental issues with my knees (knock-knee) and my ankle (shortened achilles tendon). In 2016, I had surgery for both ata the same time for each leg. They put screws in my knees, which got removed early 2018. The healing process was actually easy and smooth. This was something I developed when I was very young, but my parents and doctors thought it was a habit for me to toe-walk.

I'm too sqeemish to listen to this video but I made it about halfway through haha. All the talk about bones and muscles and ughh.. definitely not a med school grad. I'm ASSUMING you get around to saying you left Frisbee because your injuries prevent you from ever returning to what you know you could be, and good job if so. I tore my ACL and without knowing that I tore my ACL, I kept playing ultimate. I knew something was wrong with my knee but I told myself that “I’ll be fine it’s not a big deal and I don’t wanna miss any game”. So I kept playing ultimate for a couple of months. Then later I tore my meniscus during a ultimate game. I really feel how you felt like you’re a superman and you were desperate to keep playing. Injuries are tough and it sucks. But I am so happy that you’re stepping forward and going for your new career as a golfer! I wish you all the best!!

Hey Brodie, I have a question. I understand your knee issues, I to dislocated my right knee. It still clicks, should I be concerned? I’ve had it clicking for almost a year, but I still play ultimate frisbee. Should I worry about it or no? Thanks! And good luck

Shame you leave ultimate, especially now that the AUDL (also your dream !) has really taken off and has proven it is here to stay. But I understand it after this inside story on all your injuries and wish you well in your new golf adventure. Weird that your mighty frisbee arm might transfer into good golfing.

Slow motion driver video when you stripe one down the middle, various angles. Hands, club face, hip motion... Would be great. I think it would help average golfers, myself included to see what each part of the body is doing and positioning at impact.

I am a teacher in Georgia. I met you at TPC right before Tiger teed off on #1. I have a lot of great ideas to shoot some videos on campus to promote your passions and connect those passions with education. You and Kelsey need to come out ... you have so many followers. Perhaps we can even team up with Dude Perfect. It is hard to find positive role models like you guys. I think promoting education and pursuing passions go hand in hand. #lowndes county schools

I did the same thing to my knee but I wasn't playing competitive sports, some whack job physiotherapist had me laying on my stomach with a strap that resembled a car seat belt around my ankle trying to bend it past 20° I worked on it through 2 weeks of a construction job and tried to play another game of rugby and that's what sealed it for me if we could sue in this country things would be taken a hell of a lot more seriously

Hate that all this happened to you, but it’s all part of the greater plan, and just look where it got you now. I totally get how you feel about life not taking you on the path you expect/want, but I (and I’m sure you) have made it through thanks to our Lord and Savior. Keep up the great content

You should give disc golf a real try. Have you tried it much? You would pick up on it so fast and quickly blow up in the sport. Financially the sport is growing so much.

Broke my knee after 1 year of ultimate and the other one on my 2 year try to beat that but still playing cuz ultimat is life i realy hope you gonna be on 100% some day so we can see you at the world masters stream ^^
