I just spent a week in a 2wd Grand Cherokee Limited. I put about 3200 miles on the vehicle from the Texas Gulf Coastal Plain through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas. From Interstate, 2 lane secondary highway, inner city, to spirited driving through North Georgia, Tennessee, and West Virginia. I was very surprised how capable and comfortable this vehicle was!! Lots of Interstate many miles in torrential rain, the Tail of the Dragon, to Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, to a sedate Louisiana 28 this vehicle conquered it all. It was surprisingly comfortable, fuel efficient, and stable. Two things that need work IMHO are the brakes when using the cruise control. I'm used to just giving the brake pedal a light tap to take it out of cruise mode but this Grand Cherokee sometimes required a healthy stomp to disengage the cruise control. The other thing was the intermittent and very annoying habit of the turn signals signalling to the opposite side when you attempted to turn them off. Often times this would repeat from right to left several times before stopping. It was very annoying to me I can only imagine what drivers behind me thought. Instead of going from either the right or left turn signal to off they would seem to bounce to the opposite side with the slightest touch trying to cancel. I finally started grasping the turn signal stalk like a bat and lifting it into the off position. I've been driving for 50+ years and I've never experienced anything like that. The V6 was remarkably quick and had a nice growl if you stand on it all while returning almost 28 mpg over the course of the trip. I wish the car rental agent had given an instance of instruction as to the features on this vehicle although most of it is intuitive. The Start/Stop feature is bizarre but probably does aid fuel conservation, nonetheless having the engine start when you release the brake becomes comical after you get used to it. All in all a nice vehicle.

you could just hit cruse cancel on steering wheel if you think break petal isn’t sensitive enough. And start/stop is easily disabled too.

The park sensor can be turned off for when you're pulling a trailer. Otherwise when you back up the sensor beeps because it's detecting something in the vehicle's path.

While going over a couple features that are in the rear compartment of the Grand Cherokee you should have mentioned that there is a rechargeable flashlight on the driver side. This is great to in case of an emergency or for any use of a flashlight.

Don't know about the Limited, the Summit however has Active Acoustic Damping, much like pilots have in their headphones. The ambient noise is taken in by the onboard mikes and a cancelling noise is emitted over the speakers. That's what I heard over hear in Germany 👍

I think this was a good review! As with many cars, having a warranty of 100K is wonderful on a new car. If buying used, I would buy at least a powertrain warranty from the dealer. I have the 2014 GC Limited and love it. 141,000 miles and still looks and drives like new! My wife has a 2015 Explorer Limited and the Jeeps drives better although the Explorer is roomy and very comfortable.

@SkiLLy125
@SkiLLy125 7 лет назад
Andrew that is a great question! I have found that the Grand Cherokee's have been one of the more reliable vehicles in their segment. I have found the same thing as you however regarding some of the reliability of some of the lower end Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge products. Their v6 platform is very well proven and works great in their Grand Cherokee's.

So I am just a little confused for the selec trac since I am old school and like the manual way to put it in 4 wheel drive in my 97 grand cherokee and it has 4 lo 4 hi part time full time all these different options which I totally understand but with this since I live in the north east this thing will see snow and a lot of it come winter and I am confused what snow mode is does it give it a lower gear so you arent spinning tires? is it part time or full time 4wd? if anyone could just explain that whole mode to me that would be a huge help

7400 lbs. towing capacity on the V8 5.7L HEMI with towing package fortified with a larger radiator and heavy duty cooling upgrade. I have the V6 3.6L (3600 lbs. towing) and I can’t get more than 22 MPG on the highway. Also, that auto start/stop is garbage. Saves no fuel and ruins your vehicle. The off button only works for that specific trip. It always turns back on. No one likes it but Jeep includes it to pacify the Evironmental Protection Agency over the satisfaction of their customers.

I don't like 18 inch or larger "pimp rims" on a Grand Cherokees I much prefer 17 inch rims with higher profile tires on my G/C Laredo If you want to drive over pot holes trails or snow more rubber is a must between the rim height and low fat tires don't cut it in rougher Jeep conditions.
