In this video, I do a review of the Blackstone Adventure 17" griddle, with the optional RV propane hookup and carry case. I cover what I like and dislike, as well as some performance issues such as hot-spots in the top.
At the 4:24 mark, I mis-spoke when I said the top was made of cast iron. It is not. It is made of steel.

NOTE: The Top is "Cold Rolled Steel"....NOT Cast Iron. Otherwise, great video!

I can vouch for how excellent this 17” grill is for a camping couple. It is the one I have which I connect to my RV’s propane as described. Bought a long hose so I can move it just about anywhere I want based on where we put our table. Will investigate the lid. I didn’t think they had one for the adventurer. I personally like the rear trap and do not bother with an insert. I just clean it. I us aluminum cooking sheets as low cost wind breaks when needed. Two thumbs up from me.

We have the Chef Explorer 2 burner for the last 4 years camping. Absolutely love it and it's versatility. We use it as a griddle, have the grill box, and can use just the burner with our dutch oven.

I have the 22” griddle. It may not be as hot as the other make you reviewed but it works for me and is so easy to clean and cools off quickly. I also have a wood pellet Country Smoker (much less expensive than a traeger but so far has been flawless). This can be used as a BBQ grill or a smoker. It heats up so fast, and you set the temperature and it maintains it. It is much less mess than a charcoal grill. I use it for cooking all meats and the griddle for almost everything else. Between the two of these I can cook almost anything and always have an excellent meal. Being in sunny S CA we cook outside year round, rarely cooking inside. Love the combination.

Did you consider the Camp Chef Versa Top? Similar to the Blackstone yet still has the flexibility of the good ol Camp Chef. Oh for the record I use the Camp Chef Pro30 right now after carrying the Camp Chef 6x Pro for years.

Make sure you season three griddle really well before cooking. Noticed you started cooking without heating it up and adding oil to get the surface dark. That creates the non stick and favors the griddle.

Press knob and turn it til right before the click. Hold for 5 seconds then click the ignitor... lights first time every time. It allows propane to flow and get air out of the line.

I like the table in your video. Can you provide a link to it? I see the link in the description is the Blackstone edition. TIA

These are great little grills, I have the 2 burner one and its a bit heavier but nice. May I ask were you got that nice aluminum table? Keep on grilling 🥩🥓
@RVProject
@RVProject 3 года назад
Both Coleman and Alps make the table. Available from Amazon and other locations. Truth be told though, it is a bit rickety for the grill, and you would be better off with the Blackstone leg kit.

Thanks for the feedback 😀. I like the table just for a table, but yes I've been looking at the blackstone griddle stand. 👍

Get 2 burner with lid. I have single burner with lid and in my opinion it doesn’t get hot enough, I end up burning through propane. Especially in breezy areas .

You’re supposed to season it with oil first. Makes a good non stick layer.

@@RVProject After seasoning mine the surface is a very dark black. Maybe its the lighting or something. The surface of yours is grey just like it is out of the box. Overall mine has worked well. I like the aluminum drip liners. When the camping trip is over I just pull the liner out and trash it. Makes for easy clean up and no grease in my storage bay.

Here is where I bought mine: amzn.to/3oTgw7n It works, but it is a bit flimsy for a heavy grille.

However I did state in the video the grill needed to be seasoned, correct? Since the video is shot on-site at a campground, but editing is done later in a studio, we have to sometimes pick the best shots available during edit. However, the reality is that this is a steel top, not cast iron. Cast iron will benefit much more from seasoning than steel. Just sayin'

Who cares? Just start cooking stuff. It’ll season itself naturally over time. If you’re a good chef, taste and texture will be fine.

Sorry, you don't believe that Blackstone isn't hot enough to sear steaks, which is incorrect, but check the top 10 or top 5 flat top grills of 2023, based on reviews and product. Blackstone #1, ahead of camp chef, Rhino, etc. Restaurant quality food, if you know how to use the product properly. I call this video review, Bad. Two-thumbs down. IMO

Camp chef pro 60x is the way to go, Blackstone's are Walmart trash
@RVProject

Unfortunately, many Blackstone griddle owners have not seen Camp Chef, because of the $80 deal on the Blackstone 17" grills at Walmart, they look no further. With this review, along with the upcoming camp Chef vs. Blackstone comparison, I hope to open people's eyes to other offerings.
