I enjoyed V2 a lot back in 2012 but you are right about Sniper Elite 3 and 4 being better games, the series gets better as it goes on. I'm looking forward to Sniper Elite 5!
QOTD: Doom. Because I was used to Call of Duty campaigns that provided a linear experience, I was put off by the game's complex level design in comparison. But after looking at a walkthrough and then giving the game a shot, I ended up enjoying it.
Terrific review. I can’t believe this came out in 2012 (and I still haven’t played it). Well I will remedy that before I dive into parts 3 and 4. That will likely make its faults less noticeable by playing them in natural order. I love your channel BTW. Great work!
Lego Batman games are the best of Lego titles (/w Dimensions, if you can still get it). All those crazy villains and gadgets are a perfect match for the Lego game formula.
I just got this on Xbox series x and I can’t believe you can’t switch your gun side so if you’re on the right side of a doorway or opening you have to come all the way out so that everybody sees you or you always have be on the left side of the opening all the time.
This was my first sniper elite, I really love it and have plenty of nostalgia from it. By the way I disagree about the levels being samy, I think they were memorable and unique but not perfect
I was silent hill fan, didn't liked resident evil, now when silent hill is dead, resi is one of my favourite survival horror game series, need to beat just few re games to finish them all. Loved sniper elite 3...4 is in my backlog.I like stealth and sniping in 3.Will bought v2 on sale when I beat 4th game.
That goyte song was everywhere for a few years. Now he’s somebody that we used to know. I can sneak and snipe in mgsv. Qotd, I wrote off ace combat until my friend got me hooked on 4 and love the series. We’ll just forget about assault horizon. I also wrote off monster hunter until part 3 came out and it’s now one of my favorite game series.
Really need to get into this series one of these days. Curse you, backlog, for holding so many gems! QOTD is a tough one. I have some singular games that this is happened to, but I can't think of many full game franchises. The closest, I think, would be FarCry. I really don't care for the first one or its weird console cousins, but fell in love with FarCry 2. And have liked all the games since (with caveat that I haven't played New Dawn yet).
no voice on the end card? Well anyway, a series I wrote off but later came to enjoy is Final Fantasy. I used to hate how derivative it seemed and how popular it was but then I played more games in the franchise and was surprised.
I'll be honest, I like your review but I think you're being too nice. I tried it recently on sale for $8 seeing as I had recently played through part of Sniper Elite 3 and had a few issues with it. But holy shit, that game is basically a masterpiece compared to this crap. In 2012 it was already unpolished, dated and completely unremarkable barring the x-ray kill-cams. In hindsight now that we've had 3, 4 as well as the Zombie Army games, it's honestly a frustrating mess and I don't see any reason why anyone should go back to v2. It's only remarkable feature has already been vastly outdone by the later games and everything else about the game either is dreadful or painfully uninspiring. The story is practically non-existent, the only memorable character is Karl simply because he embodies the stereotype of "gruff white male protagonist" to an almost laughable degree, the levels are constricted, boring and honestly have way better atmosphere and lighting in the Zombie Army Trilogy, the close-quarters combat is honestly some of the worst I've ever experienced, there's very little weapon variety, collectibles are too abundant and serve literally no purpose, the remaster sucks on base 8th gen consoles (literally Zombie Army Trilogy looks and runs better despite being on the exact same engine) and the multiplayer in 2021 is completely dead. It's funny cause there is still a tiny handful of people playing Sniper Elite 3 multiplayer even 7 years after release, but v2 Remastered is only two years old and I wasn't even able to find a single game at all. The only reason I can see anyone playing this is merely as a reference point to see how far this series has evolved over the past 10 years. It doesn't have any nostalgic qualities (iconic levels, characters, story beats, mechanics etc) barring the main menu theme, so anyone new to the series will probably despise it, and even previous fans will probably not see any reason to play it outside purely for the sake of it. While I like variety in games, I'm honestly glad that Rebellion has basically stuck with Sniper Elite/Nazi Zombie Army since v2 because they've been able to actually gradually improve and evolve these games really well instead of being a jack-of-all-trades developer making a host of mediocre games that have very little nostalgia or relevance long-term.
