Very interesting my friend did you happen to order those wheels separately or did it just come with those wheels? If you’re a little worried about them being aggressive maybe take a very hard stone like an agate or Jasper and hold it up against the wheels to knock down the little points which can scratch you if you don’t have a large enough piece not to get your fingers close enough to the pointy spikes on the wheel you can wear a pair of leather gloves to hold the stone close enough to the wheels to not count the points it should only take a few seconds
rez wheels have some good qualities. But for me, the foam backing is too hard. they also are dangerous to your fingers - they will cut you when new, especially on the corners. I use a hard agate to take the spikes off the corners right away. The original set I got a few years ago and didnt use right away. When I did start using them, I found they chipped pretty badly and quickly. I might try to repair them with epoxy as mentioned in the video, but cabking gave me 50% off on some new ones. They couldn't explain why they delaminated so quickly- its not my cutting style. Bad batch maybe?

If you use belts you need expandable drum to put the belts on One can not put lapidary belts on resin wheels like the ones in the video If you send me your email I can send you a link to what I consider the best deal on a expandable drum
Curious about how long these last? I have a lortone combination machine, but I only use it for shaping rocks for tumbling. Been using a 80 grit kingsleynorth grinding wheel and an expandable drum with 120 grit. Do you think these would be a good option? Just looking to work down stones a bit quicker. Thanks you

@@lapidarydave Ok, i thought perhaps it would need to have some degree of malability to flex with the foam. I'll give it a try. Just watched a video of a guy doing a recoat on 4 wheels on youtube. in my opinion there is nothing wrong with the Johnson Brothers supernova wheel I absolutely love their wheels for the money I think it is 100% worth it's price, cuts much like the wheels I'm reviewing in this video and Johnson Brothers also resurfaces their wheels just as good or better than new, I hope that helped if you have any questions hit me up my friend
I see this video is from 2018. Do you still think this is the best wheel? Or is there a different one you would recommend? I want to find out which the best one to get is. I would rather have get the best value for my money. Longest lasting, cuts a variety of material, gets the best finish in the end. Thank you!
Shane Hendren So the bus last about as long as each other however the REZ brand wheel Comes out of the box a lot more aggressive some people don’t like this because The resin spiky wheels can literally cut your finger when they’re spinning When one has not deburred them using a hard stone I personally enjoy the incredible aggressiveness of the brand new REZ wheels Because they allow me to polish harder stones very fast compared to other brands or other wheels that have been broken in I honestly think that they are the most aggressive wheel in the world when they come straight out of the box after a dozen super hard stones like agates or Jasper the spiky points of the resin wheel Get knocked down and they work just like any high-quality brand wheel I would compare them to Johnson brothers wheels at that point but I really really love our REZ brand wheels because of how silly aggressive they are out of the box I am Magine other companies could manufacture their wheels with the spiky points like are easy Brandows but they would be getting a lot of phone calls from people who were absolutely mutilating their fingers from not realizing that the fast spinning spiky resin could cut you I am aware of this so I make sure to cut my first pieces using a dip stick while I use these wheels :) I hope that was helpful for you my friend feel free to message me anytime with any question it’s truly my honor and please consider subscribing if you haven’t done so already it really helps the channel

From what I'm hearing from your video they seem more aggressive than other wheels. Should I get a different grit sequence? What sequence would you suggest? Luis Gomez congratulations on your new machine my friend it is the best 6 inch machine in the industry When it comes to replacement wheels you can get diamond pacific wheels from Kingsley North.com or maybe even directly from diamond pacific themselves perhaps they will cut you a deal if you were looking for other wheels that are not diamond Pacific Brand I would highly consider REZ What do you see here in this video or Johnson brothers wheels both of them are fantastic wheels and are worth every penny Johnson brothers is a little bit more affordable but diamond pacific makes the best wheels in the world at this time and though they cost twice as much they can last 3 times as long I hope this helps you my friend I got to ask how much did you pay for your used diamond pacific Genie :)
@@lapidarydave Thank you for responding also for the information. I got it for 500$ but it was both the genie and a 6 inch trim saw or slab saw machine with a new blade. The guy was selling it as a bundle. His selling his entire lapidary equipment I went just for the a hard lap but it was too big and ended up getting both the genie and trim saw machine. The trim saw I don't know the brand but it's green. They both work great.

I polished up a little piece of ocean Jasper I had to see how it would cut and man I'm so happy right now it's ten minutes faster than using my Dremel and grinder from harbor freight. ShayniBC so when it comes to diamond pacific Snowville wheels and Johnson brothers supernova wheels they are quite a bit different diamond Pacific nova wheels are the original and they actually invented the technology they make the best wheels in the entire industry they cost the most but they are the best Johnson brothers supernova wheels gets their name I believe by copying them and Pacific nova wheels name enough to confuse people to want to buy them I don’t agree with that business tactic but I know for a fact it works for them Johnson brothers supernova wheels are fantastic and they are my wheel of choice but time and pacific nova wheels or just simply better when it comes to cab kings REZ And Other companies wheels with the same name they are actually the same the Baltic abrasive people are selling the same wheel as cab king are easy I used to be a sponsored artist with cab king a couple years ago and I would get their wheels for free I found out that boutique abrasive was selling the same wheels for less money than cab king was and when I told cab King about it I was told that even though they are made to order by cab came they were selling the wheels through a different company for less money who is reselling them for less money as well which was kind of hurting their business but I don’t think king ever did anything about it it’s kind of just a on the low thing that some people know when others don’t When it comes to highland parks see eight machine I honestly believe that is the best machine that has ever been made in the entire industry. @@lapidarydave Thank you for all of your information. I have been doing a lot of searching for machines and for wheels. What I came to the conclusion of after a lot of research for a machine and wheels was the C8 machine and Baltic REZ wheels looked the best combo I could come up with but I wanted an experienced craftsman's take. It appears you have experience with many machines and many wheel types, where I don't. I am just going by what I can see and from a general artist's point of view. So if you had the funds to just buy the best machine you could get and the best set of wheels is that what you would choose?
So if you are referring to the wheel at 3:50 that wheel is brand new from a generic company and has never been used so I have no idea what your talking about Ricky anyway you want it Rez wheels rocks generic brands such and Diamond Pacific is the best
