Idea: Random Ingredient. At the start of each of their turn they have to draw a random ingredient out of a hat and they must find a way to use it in the dish.

It’s only the key to cooking rice. NBD. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And then they keep adding cold water. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ What utter idiocy! Rice is literally the easiest thing in the world to make. Just put it with twice as much water as rice, boil, cover, and let it simmer until the water is absorbed. No rice worth eating has ever been DRAINED IN A COLANDER. 🤮
@Quirkyalonester
@Quirkyalonester 3 года назад
Thank you!! That kept bugging me with each new person!
@leea8706
@leea8706 2 года назад
@@ninaradio I know this comment is old, but another key thing is leaving the rice alone with the lid on, and off the heat once the water is absorbed for about 10 minutes. I swear it fixes any kind of rice mistake, too much water at the start? Just leave it to steam for 10 minutes at the end. Slightly too little water? Same thing. Not cooked long enough? Doesn’t matter, leave it to steam a bit more. I honestly don’t understand how people have so much trouble. My mum taught me how to cook rice when I was a teenager and I’ve never had any problems cooking rice. In fact I quite enjoy the process.
@goranpersson7726
@goranpersson7726 2 года назад
@@ninaradio that's where you're wrong mate, I cant remember the specific region but I believe it was in northern india where they basically treat rice as pasta and boil and drain it. comes out just fine. it just so happens to be that the x1,5-2 water to rice ratio bring to boil reduce to simmer then cover and leave be is easy af and hard to mess up. basically any way that makes the rice absorb enough water and heat up works just fine. some are just easier to do than others
@whydoineedanameiwillneverp7790
@@goranpersson7726 The "pasta method" is definitely the way it's done in Bengal (East India). We even have a special pot to cook rice in, whose shape makes it easier to drain the rice. I didn't know there was any other way of cooking rice "correctly" till I got into cooking RU-vid. (The "incorrect" method for Bengalis would be to use a pressure cooker - it's faster but is considered 'unhealthy' because 'too much starch stays in the rice' since you can't drain it + exact ratios are hard, so your rice tends to be too mushy). I still don't understand why anybody would faff about with exact ratios. Nobody thinks they need a pasta cooker and an exact ratio of pasta to water to get perfect al-dente pasta. Why treat plain rice differently? It's just a starch to mop up the flavour from the sauce (aka the curry) - it ain't that deep!

@TheVietnameseCatGoblin

But whenever James start it’d be awful. Like that time he spent £3 on quail eggs for a budget meal challenge. Or that time he decided to bake cakes because he didn’t want to use store bought pastry in a patisserie challenge. James has great ideas as chef but he is really bad at starting these challenges, simply because he is not there to finish his ideas...

I just wanted to thank you guys... I have been having a really hard time with my clinical depression and anxiety lately and the pandemic has made it even harder with the quarantine. A friend of mine showed me your videos and I've been binge watching them. You all have made managing my depression much easier and given me something to enjoy and look forward to. There has been a marked improvement in my mental health since I started watching your videos and it's all because you are such wonderful people. If there was one of you I most related to, though, it's James... and that is even more fitting because of a single video where he made a comment "Everything annoys me." and I couldn't have agreed more! xD So anyway... thank you for doing what you do, for being wonderful people, and for helping me get through a really, really, REALLY rough time in my life. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't been introduced to your videos. -Amanda
