@darkamora5123
@darkamora5123 2 года назад
If you went to the shop with £10 you can't walk away with anything more than that amount of product. Their pantry items account for that flexible carryover from previous meals, Janice's Deli is the shop that they can't exceed that £10 figure at. That is a default fail in that you wouldn't have had the ingredient you used to make the dish, anything after is essentially a dream "I wish I had 30p more to spend." 😴💭

@darkamora5123
@darkamora5123 Год назад
@@jacobheeaton6348 it is my understanding that there are still places in the UK (however rare) that one might be able to purchase individual servings of ingredients. From a fishmonger, or green grocer to honest to God cut meat to order butcher, to boulangerie, or ethnic herb shop one could (with effort) find a shop to cater to such things. Regardless of the normal quantities sold in a shop though, you can't walk out with more than you have a means of paying for. Exceed that figure and use the ingredient you couldn't afford and you failed. Easy to understand. Tell your significant other you are treating them to a £100 meal, then go out with £10 and see if they think your date is a failure or no. They might have had that food, but that won't be a fun scene.

@@jacobheeaton6348 if you can point me to a place where I can go in and purchase a jar of curry paste for 30p I will be very impressed as well. This isn't even "he said she said", this is Barry reading "Curry Paste; 30p" and thinking to himself "Ohhh yeah an entire jar of curry paste for 30p, that makes sense.". Completely defeats the point of the challenge as well. If every single item in the Deli is priced like it would in the grocery store (i.e 4 pounds for 10 slices of cheese) a 10 pound mid-week lunch pass it on wouldn't even have them be able to make a ham grilled cheese. On the other end it's equally dumb. If they're paying portion prices for whole items their "$10 pound budget pass it on" would've actually had them slam down 150 pounds at the store.

Idea for a theme : Three course meal where everyone gets to go twice for 10 or 15 minutes whichever you feel is more fair time wise. Best format you have, please more of it. Theme for next time, use hat you have. Similar to the gadget version, at the end of a turn you can pick ingredients for the next person. You are not allowed to use ingredients you picked yourself, just what has been left for you. The person going last will pick the ingredients at the beginning for the first person. The amount of ingredients you can pick goes down. 5,4,3,2,1 for each round of picking. All ingredients have t be used. It is slightly more complicated but should be fun. It represent that you need to cook with whatever you have left in your fridge.

You know what, I would say 30p over-budget isn't a bad thing. Had it been over 60p, I'd say yeah, failure. But this is fine for a margin of error. And I agree with Barry, that the jar should have been a staple in the fridge instead of per serving. I like this format! Keeping meals under a certain monetary threshold is an excellent idea! Keep going with that!

Oh, it's been a while since a recipe relay. I have an idea for a future recipe relay, remember those chef controling normals or normals controling chefs? How about yall do a recipe relay like that. Basically the person is controlled by whoever is next, and the person controlled aren't allowed to say or give hints to the controller. Jamie as first is controlled by ben as 2nd, ben knows what he wants to make but jamie is just following his commands, then barry controls ben, ben can't tell what hes making, barry has to figure it out himself. So the controller doesn't know what the previous controller plans to do, 1st controls 5th.

Would Barry have needed to add the curry paste to the bill considering Jaime already spent the money on it? Edit: I didn't realize they were buying portions but to be fair to Barry it doesn't make sense to buy individual spoonfuls.
@TheMrVengeance
@TheMrVengeance 2 года назад
What doesn't make sense is adding the price of an entire jar to the recipe, when you only use a spoonful of the paste in it. If you bought a bag of 20 onions, you wouldn't add that whole price into a recipe for just using 1 of them.
@SeraphimCramer

Mike, Didnt do anything wrong but didnt do anything plus he took 4 mins to get bowls Score: 5 3. Ben, I think at this point you all know it's always nice checking the oven if he did he wouldnt have gotten more onions but he did a really good job getting everything back to track Score: 5.5 4. James, Calm heahed got everything together without complicating it like Ben and allowed Mike to have the 4 mins he wasted Score: 8 5. Jamie, Good idea to be honest and got eveyone off to a really good start with a very clear direction Score 8.5

Yeah I agree. I think Jamie has a very different view on things, which means his ideas can be... pretty wild. And that can lead to some spectacular fails. Which is I think why he gets poked fun at. But other times his weird additions actually make or save the dish. Either way at least he does something. I've watched a couple episodes in a row now and Barry in most of them goes versions of: "I don't like this." "I don't cook this." "What do I do?" "I hate ." And then tends to go "I'll just do " which 9 out of 10 times completely doesn't fit the dish or theme.
