It was also going to be funnier than any future skits. Chappelle would have been upstaged at his own show. He simply couldn’t afford to do it. That’s how funny this is. It ran the risk of upstaging the funniest man on the planet on HIS OWN SHOW.
@@codygreene9067 okay n what was this reply for . Like maybe there was a reason for Rick to join or whatever. Why can't ya just let some shit land n leave it be 😂
"Charlie got beat up a lot when he was young, and them cocaine and them drinks and all them flashbacks, yeah, Charlie lies." lol XD that shit had me rolling!
"you always notice when charlie talks his teeth is locked together? well that ain't from the cocaine, that's just how charlie talk" X'D Im funking crying here!
All three of them are together now Rick James, Prince and Charlie Murphy. I can see Charlie and Prince doing a another basketball game. Rick on the side lines cracking jokes making everyone laugh.🤣 RIP guys🌹🌹🌹
To set the record straight, Rick had suffered a stroke at some point before the date of this interview, which accounts for the slurred speech and frozen facial expression. It has nothing to do with drug use. He was very a very lucid and natural interview in the years prior.
People in their 50s get strokes for a variety of reasons unrelated to drug use...I realize it's hard to imagine that when you are 15 or whatever. The guy had his issues but was absolutely a smooth talker before the stroke, meaning it wasn't a progressive condition.
@@KrolMyszka I think they mean most people were under the impression that Rick was high during this interview but to OPs point, the effects of the stroke is is the result of how he talks through the interview.
As did Rick himself. to avoid being drafted. He later served prison time for desertion. Talking big about being a real man is serving in the marines :P
@@omikronweaponokay n once again why do you all comment this. Even if Rick was in the Navy he didn't want to like Charlie, rick had a reason to. Let stuff land 😂 and stop trying to debate stuff
Interviewer: "Do you remember grinding your feet in Eddie's couch?" RJ: "Yea, I remember grinding my feet in Eddie's couch." Interviewer: "Do you remember why you did it?" RJ: "'Cause Eddie could buy another one."
Friends taking piss off each other, gloves off and you can tell that there is no bad blood between them. That's what real friendship is all about. Love-hate-love relationship with due, consistent and unquestionable respect. Massive respect to both of them and thanks to Dave Chapel for presenting us with this gem of Humanity at it's best and worst at the same time.
"Charlie has a very short term memory bank. you know all the cocaine we did in the 80's and drinking has got to him, he got like two brain cells left." Does he think his name is Charlie?? LOL
I love Charlie Murphy. I met him in person and I said "I love Charlie Murphy" he was super down to earth and friendly. Rick was like a brother to Charlie. He loved him.
What’s dope is in this interview and in Charlie’s interview they both said they knew things and could tell stories about each other but wouldn’t tell them. Charlie even said in his interview for the sake of their friendship he would never tell those stories on camera. True friendship between the two
This whole skit is timeless, I remember when it aired I was 10 and for the new generation it introduced us to Rick James ...I know about rick James before this because of my pops but I really checked out his music after that ..Mane what A time it was back then ...2004 ..We still had prince,MJ,James Brown , Rick James we still had all the goats of music
Rest in peace Charlie Murphy. Charlies scripts with Chappelle were the funniest. The first time I saw his episodes I was 15yrs old. Im 25 now and I just seen his episode about Rick James two nights ago on comedy central....i was up late like 2am drawing. So sad... Hes in a better place now.
Rest in Peace to Charlie Murphy.. watching this again after hearing the news. Now these 2 are resting peacefully. This interview will always be my favourite, so damn hilarious
This whole interview was gold. Rick James was a funny dude. You can tell they had made love for each other and it's pretty endearing. RIP to Rick and Charlie. Legends.
@@anthonysefo7524 That's really not for you to judge. True Christians 1. Never judge someone else's personal relationship with God 2. Understand that sin comes in all forms and every sin is the same and the Lord judges good works that of the same as DIRTY rags so good works cannot get you into heaven. And 3. True Christians don't try to PLAY GOD which is exactly what you are doing. You have no power to place someone in heaven or hell worry about your own soul and do not talk bad of people who are dead and no longer alive. Wish peace to them and their spirit that they made it. You could not make it in, I could not make it in, your family. Would you like it if someone were to say that about you or your family? That's like hypothetically if someone told you your mom who passed is burning in hell because all she did was bad. It's disgusting and God doesn't like ugly.
when he says he doesn't do things just to do them, he's not denying he ground his feet on the couch. He's saying he did it with provocation from Charlie/Eddie Murphy. His impression of Charlie clenching his teeth is so good, he won this exchange.
Rick's elaboration on the Navy almost validates Charlie's stories to me. He emphasizes on the "Navy" like it's a bad thing. I love these interviews. I think Rick's full of it though. RIP Rick.
