I wonder if Ricky will ever figure out that he can get all the sleep he needs in the county jail while the Bossman rethinks his schedule over from his hospital bed.
Jail is like school, you around a whole bunch people you dont want to, also there are people in jail that stay awake all night and make a bunch of noise.
1:24 Demanded a "stupid-visor" tell me why I never got two days in a row off work. If I give you two days, in a row off, you'd be tempted to leave town and then you wouldn't be available (on call) to cover shifts for all your coworkers (drunk🍻 fools) who call in sick (🥴hungover.) I quit, I might have asked for a raise if I hadn't been so upset.
I was smiling until he said "slam another energy drink, grab a honeybun, and think of reasons to not burn this place to the ground." I was on the floor laughing😂😂😂 That is literally my work routine
Ricky sounds like someone I knew that worked in oilfield. He had worked virtually 4 months straight on what was supposed to be 14 on, 7 off. (Off only 2 days total in that time) He quit when they told him he couldn't be off for the birth of his kid. He went to being a mobile mechanic after that.
Back in the 80s there were oil field service companies that had a sliding pay scale. The more hours you work the less per hour you were paid GROSS to sometimes being around 1.50 at around 100 hours. They actually figured out that the workers took home more net at that many hours due to tax withdrawals. I kmow that sounds stupid but I knew guys who worked for some of them and they swore it was true. Remember not a few of those hours were they were alseep but as long as they were on the rig site they were on the clock.
Real good for him. Work your tail off for so many days in a row and they won't let you take off when you REALLY need it? There's no glory in working yourself to death 💀
@@OneOut1 You know that was illegal. I was working back in the 80s and I know. I actually started in the oil field in 89 (started working in 83) but the minimum wage was set and you shouldn't have been able to pull that shit. Those guys got screwed and should have done something about it. Spilled milk and all that, but the oil field workers got fucked over until the 2000s. I know, I've been in it since the 80s. Still in it. Although in a much better position.
You know the sad part. All the big bosses in all the big companies. Know the workers feel like that. And they don't care....... money money money money 💰 isn't it great to be a American. Boss man gets all your time government gets half your pay and a piece of the price on everything you buy. We get a casket or urn that we have to pay for. And the government even gets a piece of those end cost. Money 🎶
@@g.w.customcreations3534 While I agree about the serving time bit, I have to disagree that the Rickys are a rare breed. There are more of them out there than you realize. I know of at least 20 personally. And that's only in the last 6 years. Going back through my work history, which is around 43 years, there are a HUGE amount of Rickys out there. They just don't act on it. 🤣
Oh brother, you nailed this one right on the head. I just finished a 26 day stretch and before that I had one day off. Between that and the 24 day stretch I did. Work life balance for the working poor is a joke. I work to pay my bills and to have the modest living I have. Didn't realize making over 100k a year would be so hard to live on, but in this day and age I guess I'm lucky to have a roof over my head and food on my family's table. Work why the work's there. That's what I was always taught as an apprentice and now is a journeyman. It's what I try to teach the young pups coming up. You make the most realistic trades content. Ive see you on RU-vid. Keep it up brother!
Holy crap! I ain't never made 100k and I'm retired and just now this year putting my third kid through college and have a car payment and boat payment and house payment. You are doing something really wrong brother.
John, you have a way of putting the skits so relatable and real. The last 3 contract jobs I had co workers just like your character's. Your a smart guy.
I always tell my boss , I only work Monday to Friday and once a month I'm going home early on Friday and I'm not coming in on on Monday at all , you can take that to the bank . 😂
We had a how to improve morale and retention thing at my one job... It quickly got swept under the rug when employees told the truth and said pretty much every direct supervisor sucked and the company needed to use something other than do it or you're fired... This is the same company that would ask everyone to take a how you like your job survey and they stopped giving that survey when everyone said that they needed to be paid more, needed more co workers for there jobs and complained about management... The pandemic firing me was the best thing that ever happened to me...
I can relate to ricky worked almost a year of 12 to 16 hour days with maybe 5 days of total because the refinery screwed up and needed 2 tanks built and every time we said we needed a day off the boss would just say but look at all the money you're making finally we all just didn't come in one weekend
That's the last straw that got me to quit at my job. It's like they ignored our true issues while giving BS reports holding up themselves as good guys to anyone.
Yep been there, done that. On travel for five straight months, working six tens. YES SIR, great work/life balance. Did that for six straight years. I'll never do that again.
*2pm on Friday, my phone rings. "In a Pinch delivery, can I help you?" "Yeah, it's Bob at Bob's Gears, we've got a 1500lb industrial clutch that needs to be in Perry, FL by 7am tomorrow. Can you do that?" *checks math: I've been awake since 6am + 900 miles, carry the Red Bull = "Sure, I'd be happy to(go 39 hours without sleep and spend my weekend behind the wheel)! But doing that hustle for 28 years paid off!
I worked a krispy kreme factory on a strike. (Dude homeless trying to eat. It was a paycheck) i also had a newborn less then 3 months old. I went without sleep working 15 hour shifts then caring for the baby for 2 weeks. Until my body shut down and left me passed out in the drivers seat of my car luckily in the shade in my parents driveway for 8 hours. Mother saw me pull in, when I didnt come in she came got the baby and put his shoe in my hands and left me there. I was blessed to not drive home that day
102 hours? How long can he keep that up before he falls asleep running the biggest dozer on site over the Safety Man conex trailer? Maybe even with him in it.
Oh that's the PERFECT comment to follow up the boss man's muttered statement about not scheduling two days off in a row lol.. I mean, for real; we definitely don't want to spoil or coddle our employees too much.. Two days off in a row? My Lord, what will they be expecting next?? Getting a "weekend" off that's actually on a (gasp!) weekend?? Just because they rarely see their kids or spouses is not an excuse to expect a Saturday or Sunday off (when their families are actually out of work and school as well); after all, isn't it true that absence makes the heart grow fonder? So truthfully, your company working their employees 150+ hours is as beneficial as family counseling!! I wonder if there's a way to charge for this counseling benefit??🤔🤔
Manager: Do you enjoy working here? Me: I would rather be involved in a 10 car pile up, then show up. Manager: So ....we'll just jot that down as a 'yes' then.
Foam and gas son. Get some. Jokes aside I loved this. Reminds me of my millwright days. Constantly tired and don’t enjoy the check whilst she spends it.
Shoot mines in by 4:30am up at 2:30am every morning for farm chores then in to work for 4:30am work till all trash is hauled for the day go home eat, farm chores, go to bed start all over again
I got Ricky beat. In '86 l worked on the tugs doing log tows. In the month of march l had 744hrs. Two of us on a boat working 24hrs a day there's supposed to be four guys. Instead my company would offer up the hours to two. I drank a lot of coffee. My take home was $8,654.
