This is the oil drain, this is the drive shaft, and this is the catalytic converter and this is where you put the sawz-all. Now remember, only one of you needs to be under there, the other needs to keep an eye out.
im with ricky. my dad didnt teach me much other then to yell which kinda sucked. i let mine out in garage and we take all kinds of stuff apart. the wife gets mad because i have 5 acres of junk but its for the kids learning experience. and plus if someone needs it around here i may have it
As an hvac tech who scraps, I can tell you that there is very little copper in window units. You get the motor/s, the compressor, the aluminum coils (which have copper but you get coil pricing for them), and the tiniest little line-sets that are actual copper tubing. Worth breaking down but it's not the copper that you're making money on Edit: Oh and since all the line-sets are so tiny, there is a lot of brazing so 90% of that copper can only be scrapped as #2 copper

Yup some countrys have their kids stripping circuit boards with their bare hands and no shoes and no masks... Stripping an A/C unit is a walk in the park... Lol
Uuuuuuh i actually had this taught to me as a kid also 😅 my bio dead beat dad was a plumber and I often helped him. It was mostly abandoned houses that were about to be demolished and he told me he had jobs that require him to remove old copper pipes and replace them with up to date approved pipes. Whatever that meant. I didn't end up a plumber like him, I work construction jobs. I'd rather go to trade school for an electrician job.

Stealing AC copper?? That's the worst of the worst rat behavior. Catalytic converters are where the money is ($100-1000), anyway. While copper may be valuable, risking getting shot for $10-20 bucks max is peak trash action yet haw suit.
