You guys deserve so much more money for what you all do. Its sad police, fire/rescue, and paramedics make less than someone that sells insurance.
@KandiKlover
@KandiKlover 5 лет назад
It's because insurance is a scam. Dishonest or scumbag work always gets more money. You just gotta get used to being a low down worthless piece of shit to do it.

Fire and rescue salaries fluctuate a lot depending on where you work. I’m making $67,000 straight out of the fire academy (with EMT certified). EMT make little to nothing and it’s really sad. Police make all kinds of different wages just because there’s different things you can do as a police officer. But pay could definitely be higher

That young fella driving did a wonderful job! I can tell he has everyone's safety in mind, he doesn't just plow through intersections like I've seen done sometimes where they don't even slow down when they have the red light. Great job guys! And thank you for all you do for us!

There's only so much about being an EMT you can put in a video. it's such a mentally torturing and rewarding job, which is why you have to have the right mindset doing this work no matter how skilled you are, or you end up as a patient yourself or worse.

We still have some Whelen strobes on some of our older vehicles and they pop like crazy. Our newer cars have the LEDS roof lights but still have strobes in the front corners and rear tail lights and you can hear them popping.

Great light bar setup on your unit, very visible. Just do not understand why the driver does not use the air horns more often when approaching intersections. It is there for a reason. Cutting out the siren midway can cause confusion to a motorist. A motorist hears the siren and then hears it cut out midway through its cycle, cn lead a motorist to think maybe your call was canceled. I always ran code 3 full lights, full siren, even when there is hardly any traffic directly in front of me. lets drivers hear me approaching from a distance when they are still a block or two away and brings them awareness of a approaching emergency vehicle. Just my personal approach to it. For a volunteer Department, you have a great station and some really nice vehicles. It shows how much pride you take in your equipment. Nice and clean, shining all over. Great job. Be proud to serve with you.

I don't get the red lights on responding vehicles. Where's the blue?
@LakeBodomsReaper
@LakeBodomsReaper 10 лет назад
Morten Vestergaard We use both and then some: -Red almost always denotes an emergency vehicle if the lights are facing forward. -Amber or Yellow lights are often used by utility vehicles such as construction vehicles, tow trucks, snow plows, funeral escorts and hearses, security patrol vehicles or other vehicles which may be stopped or moving slower than the flow of traffic. -White is often used as an optional color on lightbars -Green emergency lighting since 9/11 is now used by Homeland Security Agencies and Government/private security agencies protecting high risk government and Critical Infrastructure. -Blue is reserved for law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs. Fire and emergency medical services generally use red lights with amber and white as optionals. Vehicles operated by fire departments, such as fire engines and heavy rescue vehicles, prominently use red, a color with strong cultural associations with the fire service, along with some amber and white. Police agencies may use red, blue, or both, depending on the state, along with white and amber as optional colors; although amber is usually restricted to face behind the vehicle. Some police cars have an amber traffic-control stick, or "arrow stick", behind the lightbar to direct traffic left or right around the vehicle; these usually have 6 or 8 rear-facing lights that flash in sequence. ***Excerpts from the Wikipedia article "Emergency Vehicle Lighting"*** en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_vehicle_lighting#United_States
@olizandrey2
@olizandrey2 10 лет назад
But red city lights, rear lights on cars, you name it. I mean.. Nothing in the traffic is blue except on emergency lights. It would be the obvious choice to make the car stand out among everything else. Like in Denmark! 100% blue and very effective!
@olizandrey2
@olizandrey2 9 лет назад
I get that and I'm sure it's working fine, but you must admit that having a general understanding being blue lights = emergency would work better, as they stand out 100% from the traffic :)
@evanmccabe822
@evanmccabe822 9 лет назад
***** Every state AND city is different. I lived in Illinois for 21 years and never saw a police car running red only. Was just recently back in Pekin visiting and the PD there and in Peoria still run red/blue/white. The Ambulance company that services almost all of central Illinois runs blue/green/white.

@olizandrey2
@olizandrey2 10 лет назад
Right. It should be max 40mph, not to waste any fuel not needed and then I think we can cut out the lights and sirens as well. Probably also need some stronger laws to make sure they do not hurry to a person in need of help. Sounds good to me.. -- .. What the hell man? Considering fuel and speed for an ambulance?

Why does the driver have to remove their hand from the wheel to control sirens? Should be connected to the horn. it's dangerous to be driving with only one hand.
@CTHennebry
@CTHennebry 9 лет назад
in the new ford explorer interceptor you can control siren from steering wheel
@austinc8343
@austinc8343 9 лет назад
by the siren is a horn which he clicks multiple times, just like a car horn but louder and specially made for ambulances. so he honks at people for them to move, something that just adds to the siren.
@CymruEmergencyResponder
@CymruEmergencyResponder 9 лет назад
I know that but it should not require the driver to take their hands off the wheel. Hands should only be off the wheel to change gear and use the handbrake.

was just thinking about this, just in case something happens to your roll up door say like the spring that is located at the top of the door, those ten to break quite easily, if that does happen, and you cant get that door to roll up to get the ambulance out, do you guy have a back way out just in case, know that thends to happen quite a bit when you have to open and close that door a lot of times, the spring wears out and it just breaks.......also if you don't mind me asking I don't kow if this is the same for all departments but does the city or town where you're located, does the city pay for all of the fuel for all of the fire units? Thanks........
