@@samuroadventure1227 Only 2-3 weeks. it was stuck at the docks having recall checks. When I placed a deposit it became a 'confirmed order' and that gave BMW the hurry up to work on mine before others going into general stock (unsold). A deposit shows firm commitment, but I made sure mine was refundable if the terms on the trade in changed between deposit and delivery - worth doing IMHO.

Congratulations on the new ride. It's a sweet looking bike. I just hope when they put that engine in the GSA that they don't change the styling. Keep the GSA with that distinctive BMW/GS look.

I'm sure they'll do their best. Improving looks and aerodynamics must be a challenge when also trying to keep a visual heritage alive. The new 1300 has definitely lost some of its off-road rugged looks but is lighter and sleeker. They can't please all of the people, all of the time, I guess?

Probably OEM. I like the idea of keyless passive auto-central locking.

I've owned three GSA's and don't want another. The GSA is better on a freezing January morning when you have 300 miles to ride and don't want to stand in the rain filling your bike up. But on every other occasion for every type of riding the lighter GS works best for me personally. It's a lot less effort to push on a driveway, to muscle through the twisties, and to scrub off speed when you get a curve wrong or an animal runs out in front of you. It's much more dynamic and fun. But many will prefer the GSA when it arrives, and much depends on how much weight they can scrub off it (they haven't done a good job with the 900 GSA) and whether they up the engine to 1400cc.

@@Boxer1250RT I prefer some new aspects like the matrix headlight and engine finish, but it also lost a little ruggedness. Change tends to grow on people over time. Perhaps the GSA will bridge the gap.

Nice one Richard, its a good looking bike, plenty of fun to be had with it. Out of interest do GS riders in the US (as a whole) have a similar reputation from non GS riders, here in the UK?

There's probably a few that just ride from Starbucks to Starbucks, and occasionally go up a curb or through a puddle to justify their purchase, just as they do in the UK. However most guys I ride with (15+) own an ADV Tour bike and they are all comfortable riding 350-mile days, riding on fire-trail roads, and some of them are even ambassadors for the BDR tours. Because America has the right topography and weather (long distances, sunshine, lots of off-road riding) they're even more suited for here I'd say. With that said I owned multiple GS/GSA's in the UK and along with a Triumph Street Triple RS, it's still what I'd choose for UK roads too. Personally I don't care what people ride or how they choose to use them, only that they do is what's important.

Thanks, Scott. It's literally the only 719 I've seen with forged wheels. And I know the dealer didn't swap them out, because I had the VIN and spec sheet (that BMW supply) while it was still in a crate at the docks. A lot of triple blacks come with the forged wheels but off-road tires which I didn't want. I came close to buying the triple black, as I like the stealth looks, but this came up and was basically the top of the rang with every accessory box ticked, and I just thought its not a time to skimp on costs and went for it.

Some say the Worst GS BMW ever. Maybe they thought it was a Honda but the Grandpa Green would of gave it away. Enjoy anyway

I've only owned 5 GS's, so perhaps I need more experience on them to make a more informed decision. I do know at least two people personally who have ridden it and didn't like it. So it's not for everyone. Choice is good.
