The last time I filmed a lap on Sunset Ridge, construction had just been finished. It was nice to revisit this one with Alex Petitdemange now that the lines are burned in and everything is running nicely. Kudos to the builders for making this wonderful piece of tech trail. There is more trail being built right now at Hawes with a similar character to Sunset Ridge. Jumps, drops, jank. All of the best things. Do Saguaros have spines that come off and stay in you if you accidentally brush against one? Is there ground cacti right on the trail edge? Are flats very common in this kind of riding? Desert riding seems weird but I guess now is the time to go. Not hot, so you can wear more protection, and the snakes aren't out yet.

Basically, don't touch anything in the desert. Everything is trying to kill you. Snakes are the safest part.

I tried riding this trail yesterday. And the trail needs maintenance, badly. They are so many portions of the trail that are just completely washed and rutted out. Just couldn't ride most of the trail.
