My tolerance to rain is temperature based. 40s and rain I will avoid at all costs. Other than that rain is less fun then dry. Although, a quick downpour on a hot day can feel really good.

Must have been the one that skirted E. Tn. The hardest thing for me to do in the rain is see where I’m going. If it’s too bad I’ll pull over. There was a storm in just outside Maggie Valley toward Asheville a couple years back and something told me it wasn’t one to mess with so I stopped paid a fortune for a motel room for me and the GF. I live less that 70 miles away from where we stopped. The next morning when we left I stopped to get something to eat and the storm had ripped signs up, pushed dumpsters, and ripped a couple roofs off. Needless to say I’m glad the man upstairs told stupid to stop. If I had been by myself I’d have probably gotten myself into trouble. Hope you made it home dry.

I always say I’ll ride in the rain, I’ll ride in the cold, but I will not ride in the cold rain. At least not intentionally. I visited my family in Knoxville last summer and we rode a loop through tail of the dragon and back through the Smokey mountains. Got caught in a downpour twice in one day with no rain gear. Arguably the most fun ride ever because it was still beautiful and we all embraced the suck together!

Nobody like riding in the rain, but it is a fact of life if you ever tour on a bike. Living in Florida in the summer its a fact of life in the afternoon you are gonna get wet. Ride your comfort zone is all I can say. I’m the same way, I hate starting the trip in the rain. One thing since you wear a Shoei, put the pin lock visor in, it 100% helps against fogging.

Congrats on hitting 5K!!!!!! Next landmark - 1MIL views!!!!! Short trips (to-and-from work) if it's forecasted to rain all day - I'll take the truck. If rain is in the morning but the rest of the day is great, I'll ride to work and bear the morning rain. Long trips - inclement weather is part of the adventure.

If you ride you will ride in the rain at some point just be careful I don't start off in the rain unless I have some where I have to go be safe and keep the Rubber side down

Had to outrun a hail storm in Wyoming on the way to Sturges back in the 1980’s. The hailstones were huge and it seemed to take forever to find an overpass to hole up under.

My 2023 ST is due in end of month. Why you ask? I chose to take the $200 Traction Control option. I’m spending a lot of money to ride, enjoy the outdoors. I played outdoors as a kid in all weather and I guess I will continue as an adult. I run with scissors as well…

Rain is okay in the middle of summer. Didn't have any rain gear. By the time I got home I was completely dry.

Yes, that trip you mentioned with us was quite interesting. Lightning and torrential rains aren’t conducive to riding. We pushed through it as we didn’t have any place to get shelter. Rain doesn’t bother me, but I do prefer sunny skies. 😂

@@TyFromTennessee I’ve been out on my bike when there had beer rain earlier in the day, but none forecasted during the time I was out, still got caught in a downpour!! Another time, I was an hour away from home and there was rain in the forecast, but at a point where I should have been able to get home before it hit; yeah, not so much. It came down in sheets, I could barely see past the windshield of my Electra Glide Ultra on a two lane road heavily trafficked by tractor-trailers and no shoulder to pull off onto and zero potential for cover even if I had pulled off the road! I was about 5 miles outside of the upcoming town and the rain had nearly stopped by the time I got to a gas station with a huge canopy!! Just after that storm hit, a gust of wind hit the bottom of my bike and pushed it sideways nearly causing me to low side wreck! I just can’t see the reason to tempt fate that much, so I don’t care if “bikers” call me a fair weather rider, I’ll ride when I’m comfortable with being out on the bike(I do rode a fair amount in cold weather as well)!!!

We ride for fun. So if the weather looks bad. I'll do something else. If it's a scheduled ride, I don't mind the rain. But the people I ride with will pull over and avoid riding until it gets better.

My Chieftain is my only transport, so ride all year round (10k a Year) come rain or shine, prefer the dry weather though!

I live in Florida. Rains alot expecially in summer.Dont want to ride through a thunder storm. Light to medium is no big deal 😮 don't use rain gear it's too 🔥

Yeah Ty, I’m like you happy to get caught in the rain but would ride in the rain just for the sake of it. If I was leaving on a longer trip and it was rain I would suck it up and ride. I once got caught in a horrendous thunder storm on an interstate trip that I will never forget and I often wish I was running camera gear on that day.

Where I live in Washington it has in recent years gotten as hot as 118°f. If it's over 105 it's too hot for me, and I'm not going far in that kind of heat. I rode in 111° for an hour and decided that's not a great idea

I always say the worst thing about riding in the rain is cleaning the bike up when you're done.😂 Riding in the rain does not bother me at all but I would hide from lightning. I have put close to 140,000 miles on my last two bikes. But I always say there's no way I can be a biker because I do not have any tattoos or body piercings.😂😂😆😆 Ride safe.

I got caught in a hailstorm in Colorado. That really sucked. I was 18, riding a Kawasaki CSR 750. This was back in the 80s. I was stationed in Colorado Springs. Broke as a joke most of the time as a lowly E1.

One of the worst things to get caught out in the rain with is an open-faced helmet. I always found that you'd get the odd drop square in the bottom part of the forehead.I found that very painful.

I have rode through rain lots of times. I try to avoid it. I have been riding for years and I bought rain gear a couple years ago. As far asother riders they need to decide if they want to ride in the rain. It makes no difference to me. If I have not been on the bike for a while I will ride rain or not. I will not ride in the snow or on icy roads.

I'm sick of riding with wet feet. Im going to check out some cheap waders from Walmart., $40 bucks should get a decent pair of waders. A friend told me to check it out. He loves it, NO WET FEET!

@@TyFromTennessee Hoy mate, your welcome, thank you for a good video. My friend said waders are cheap, they work and you can wear regular tennis shoes. The waders that come up to your chest with the shoulder straps, they also keep your chest dry. A decent rain coat over that and he stays dry and warm. I'm going tomorrow to check them out, I'll let ya know.

I don’t care too much about what people think of my riding habits. But I also don’t tell people what those habits are on social media. The guys that post stuff on Facebook about trailering their bikes to Daytona or not riding in the rain get roasted by complete strangers and keyboard warriors

I am not sure who set the scale for who is a biker and who is not. Your on a bike your a biker. I won't leave when it is pouring but I have been in a ton of storms. You get wet you get wet!

I’ve road in rain don’t like it. If I’m home and it’s going to rain the Ultra stays in the garage. We all get caught in the rain at some point. But I don’t ride in the rain on purpose if I’m home. If your traveling you really don’t have a choice. I’ve road in cold weather but most of the time I like the warmer weather to ride in. I’ve been riding for over 30 years I got nothing to prove to anyone.
