I'm so sad PvE isn't coming back, but I can't help it and still imagine: what if Ruination had a PvE like Odissey where you could be one of the Sentinels and change your skills with upgrades, like Olaf using R and causing fear or his E dealing AoE and other interesting stuff like that. I liked the Ultimate Spellbook, but I would enjoy the PvE mode so much more and the event would be really great because I would enjoy it (missions about killing the final boss or specific monsters through the levels could be added instead of just "kill more people gain more points")
I thought the same, PvE Is such a nice and fresh thing, but Riot just want people clicking like crazy on the same game mode over and over and over again all the year and not just the event... I really miss that effort they did on Odissey and Invasion
that would be good but riot focuses too much on the marketing team not the ideas team. basically the marketing team is giving ideas team orders on what to do
Oh, imagine if they mixed the story and gamemode together. Boss fights based on each part of the story, with hoards of ghouls before reaching that boss fight.
Regardless of whether or not the chat is toxic, you can still mute and report. Having tooltips that come up in game if there's a ton of chatting, or the bot detects slurs or "sensitive language" saying "You can mute chat if it's too toxic or distracting" is really all they should do. People being shitty over the internet is a continuous problem, and it can't be fixed. It can only be dealt with or mitigated. All chat being removed is just going to make players feel more isolated with their team, and lash out even more. How are you even going to be able to report the enemy team for being negative or toxic? Maybe they should make a champ that is extremely negative, and angsty to commodify depression. That'll really appeal to the toxic fanbase.
My favourite moments when was a toxic teammate would complain about an ally in the /all chat and be bullied by the ennemy team because no one likes that, it was always a magical moment but nah we need to delete the all chat instead, leave the whole team in an ecosystem of hate on their own instead of having a better report/ban system or something, put a shitty bandage over the already existing bandage (mute) instead of trying to improve But yeah I agree all chat is just wholesome most of the time unless you're an asshole, the team chat is where the toxicity mostly is
@@delfinenteddyson9865 what? Dude you're delusional. They're treating their player base like children being put in timeout. They're deleting all chat for one patch. What are you talking about being sheltered? Toxicity mostly comes from your own team. Riot doesn't care. They're just pretending to do something about it in the weakest way.
@@sspectre8217 I whole heartedly agree with this, see the issue is I’m afraid if this is just the same as what Blizzard is doing with WoW right now If they just did this one thing and said “JOB DONE” this won’t be a good decision, people can deny it all they want but the toxicity won’t stop in the foreseeable future, it’s deep in the roots, they will always find a way to shit talk.
Trust me they know, If they actually don't realize this the game is 10000% doomed. Removing All Chat will change literally 0 about the game, It won't have any positive nor negative impact in the game the real problem is that Riot thinks this is the right direction to combat toxicity and they couldn't be more wrong.
Guilds in League: no one uses this because its just a text chat and a clan tag, so we are removing it Guilds in Wild Rift: here is an interesting system which shows we know how to use this to build community and improve player engagement we just dont care about the main client
Why does it feel to me like Wild Rift gets a lot more love while League is supposed to be the bigger game? The guild feature, the passes and the rank badges ... they are so good I think as a concept ... especially the badges could show if someone would be a boosted teammate on your team?
Beacuse they are still in a competition with ML aswell. Soo they are trying to out Class ML...meanwhile me im just average with both tho the report system is ml is better then wild rift. In my opinion.
@@mysticstelios ik that for a fact but i still find it fun....totally did not spend a fortune on that game aswell as league. Copy pste tho have their own twist is a norm. Espacially now that multiple games are using other games ideas for their own. Heck check out the battle royale genre. They are the same with their twist. And the item system of the game recently got reworked and stuff. Its better tho there is ome broken item and everyone and their mother is going for it.
I hope they redeem themselves with the upcoming Arcane event, I hope they learned from the mess Ruination had. On the other hand, removing /all chat is such a controversial decision, and I hope Rito find much better ways to deal with toxicity :/

And your example makes no sense. The pull isn’t coming from a mobile moba stand point, it would be the addition of a new character in the League universe.
The problem of removing all chat is not flaming the enemy. Most of my interactions with all chat have been nice, I've learned when I was a new player, Ive had dance parties on a losing game, I've made friends, all because of all chat, it's a important feature. Yeah there are people who just use it to flame, but we are also loosing the wholesome moments that come with it.
It is so obvious that there is no point in what they are doing that the conspiracy theorist in me believes that this is just an attempt to remove power from the player. I’m not sure for what reason. So that players can’t communicate with each other and join together to demand changes? Maybe the chat is problematic because it gives the game a bad rep just like the old League Forums were nuked because people spamming issues with the game and company there was ruining the company’s image? Is the toxic environment in the chat threatening to interfere with the PEGI 12 rating they want to maintain as a game? I have no idea, but I find such a pointless action and plastic pretence of goodwill suspicious.
Agreed. Asking where my opponent is and learning they flamed and asked? Priceless in condolences, dance parties, getting the 9 of us on board with making the game fun and/or accepting the surrender. Priceless in explaining I am not inting, my team is actively refusing to play with me because I didn't do Sett's sit ups for them to make sex jokes on. Priceless in chilling, because it's a game above all else and if you're not having fun...? But nope, Rito's stripping me of any recourse when my own team are the toxic ones, which is far more than half the time.
@@kx5462 Never in my entire time of playing league has all chat been used for productive talk other than making fun of riot which in itself wasn't really productive.
I'm seriously wondering where these genuine friendly people everyone keep talking about come from. Once again...seriously...what elos are y'all at to be experiencing this? I have gotten to the point I have muted both team and all chat because they aren't ever used for what they are their for.
Riot should have made the ruination event a reskinned odyssey event, enemies are shadow isle mobs and main boss at the instead of kayn could have been viego. and the champs you play are the sentinel skinned champs. Would have been a much better even that fits the theme

What if it's a new champ? Exclusive to wild rift that'll tie into the arcane event. Maybe thats why they didn't show it because it's a spoiler for the show.
I may be biased because I started playing just before the Odyssey event, but I really liked that one. It was super fun, and I wanna see it again! Though I think I missed the Star Guardian event…

I'm pretty sure when Wild Rift was released, all the good workers that were on the League of Legends team were moved to Wild Rift and now Wild Rift is thriving. The whole idea with the rank badge is amazing and will actually remove a lot of toxicity and frustration to the lower ranked player in the game. Chatting with the enemy is sometimes wholesome and fun. You'll never had the same feeling with chatting with your allies cuz all they do is type ravial slurs and death threats to you.
I will be sad if all chat is removed, I've had enemies give me tips in match ups, but that said, the last twelve games I've had in ranked all have had at least one person being toxic in all chat because "if it's the last time I'm going to flame ill get the most of it."
All chat is where basically all my wholesome league conversations take place: simple stuff like complimenting skins and random jokes really do a lot to keep toxicity levels low. Almost every other game I see good natured all chat. It's only like 1 in 15 games where an enemy actually tries making some weak attempt to flame in all chat
@@FoxRidgeFIlms i've played a lot. Half of the people that is actually toxic is just ranked sweaters who aren't playing good against their ranks and came back no normal mode.
yeah, some of my favorite moments in league were banter in all-chat. And anyhow, i feel like flame from the other team tends to hurt much less than flame from you own team, since it's only the latter that can actually lead to AFKs and feeding.
im so freacking sad that odyssey wot come back, i played it so much and loved every single match. AP yasuo, healer ziggs, trainwreck malphite and meteorshower jinx were so fun that i sometimes get unmmotivated to even play them again in normal/ranked games cus they seem less fun after that
I literally started to play the game because of that star guardian mode and playing odyssey mode was one of the few times i actually had fun in the game. The fact that they don't wanna bring them back because they're too lazy to do their job, really rubs me the wrong way
It's really easy to attribute it to laziness and I don't inherently disagree but also like. The english speaking community is not remotely the dominant region for League and they pull in this data worldwide. The people that want pve back are a very vocal minority (I'm going to be clear that I am part of this minority and prefer pve over pvp), and the gaming industry as a WHOLE is really big on "player engagement" to the point things cant just exist and be fun, but they have to retain high player engagement or they're not worth the production time. The dev team probably wouldn't mind putting time into pve modes, but it's the execs up top that aren't seeing the value or $$$ in it. One thing people always forget is that its usually not the teams actually making content that has the final say in these decisions.
Considering it wasn't originally a joke, I'd say if people making fun of Riot for that is the way to get their balancing team's heads out of their asses then let it be as overused as it can possibly be.
Imagine bringing back Odyssey PVE where Kayn has to team up with the Morningstar crew to fight Zed/Jhin/whomstever. The banter between Kayn and the crew, especially him and Jinx, would be priceless 🙏🏻
I remember I was playing with a friend, and he was in top lane. He and his laner formed this brotherhood, and they just did not fight in lane at all until around 18 minutes when things really started happening in the game. The enemy top laner said in /all chat "Forgive me, brother." and stuff like that is why I'm biffed about the removal of /all chat. At the same time however I agree with the effectiveness of the decision. Square Enix did this recently with the ranked PvP mode in Final Fantasy 14, except they just removed chat altogether. Instead you can only ping and send pre-generated messages to your team, which I agree with. It mitigates toxicity a lot.
Two examples of pre-generated pings I can think of where they dont stop toxicity are Smite and War Thunder. In smite they can use the "Good Job" ping and then the "Nevermind" ping to flame you despite still having a chat. I may be remembering the names of the pings wrong but the essence of the combo is still there. The same thing exists in War Thunder. Toxicity is a natural part of gaming that you have to combat intelligently. If you take away every outlet for it then people will just get creative in their methods. Take the recent hate on MiHoYo for the Genshin Impact anniversary, the players were having all their methods of expressing displeasure taken away so they took to spamming a character in the discord because every other option was gone.
I am super sad about pve and odyssey. I managed to get the final achievement that allowed you to order the captain jacket from the store but I was so fucking broke at the time, I couldn't afford it. Gotta love college... But now, thanks to college, I have work and could afford the jacket now :(
Why is everyone talking about lack of dragon on Thresh when Lee Sin, Ashe and basically non of the skins look dragon apart from a few details (just like Thresh) except Asol the dragon? Karma model doesn't look dragon apart from the two symbols on her back. She doesn't even have scales like Ashe and yet Thresh is the one people complain about. Not saying that I didn't have any negative feedback or make suggestions in the feedback thread on how to make him more dragon but I don't get the complaint is such a big deal. He isn't a dragon he is someone who was blessed by a dragon. I am not one to normally defend Riot but I think when they put it down in the thread update that they were Dragonmancer not dragonslayers they were correct and they did update the model to be more dragon on Thresh despite that so I feel they got *that* part right. I don't have beef with anyone just saying my opinion.
Well, Lee doesn't have much skill effects to begin with and "his storm dragon" is actually ASol... sooooo yeh? And Thresh just looks like a generic smooth-armored version of himself Edit: I just took a look at Thresh's splash art and literally just realized that there's a dragon beside him
@@name-ug5xq I was talking purely model design and apart from the dragon pattern upon his clothes nothing in his design screams dragon. I get the at first glance Thresh model looks like armour base but he doesn't lack dragon looks in model anymore than any other non dragon champ in the skinline. In fact he screams it more imo. Edit: also what does Asol being his dragon have anything to do with how dragon like his model design is?
It's similar to the "dragons" in Ionia in LoR. They don't have any superficial qualities of a dragon, but the way they play, and where their powers come from are that of a dragon. Base skin Lee Sin doesn't have any dragon qualities, so it's the same shit. People are just misunderstanding the thematic.
Maybe because it's the NEW set of skins, perhaps? I'm pretty sure people pointed the things you said about Lee and Ashe back when those skins were to be released.
@@nuicrowe7965 OK yeah fair but even in the new set of skins Thresh doesn't look much less dragon model wise than anyone else. The only rival being Kai'sa because it was easy to put the dragon heads for guns. Anyway they don't have to look like very draconic in the model because that is not the theme. The theme is that there powers (the Vfx) were given by dragons this the focus of dragons in vfx.
One way to add more replayability for PVE content is to add randomized waves or generated things. One idea that really popped is the last boss in Odyssey. It could switch between Kayn or Aatrox, maybe even Sivir if they wanted to make a villain playthrough.
really like this style necrit! i dont really play league much anymore, but whenever i get a pang of nostalgia and want to check in with it i come back here :)
A rough gauge on how overloaded a kit could be, I feel, is how long a tooltip is. I've seen it pointed out several times throughout youtube that Akshan's W by itself has more characters in it than Nasus's entire kit, including his passive. While there are some cases that a tooltip HAS to be long even on an ability that does a single thing for clarity's sake (there's exceptions where the ability does not work, or similar), it is a good starting point on whether or not a champion's kit is starting to look a little overloaded. While I'll have to see the upcoming dragons to see how they play out, but I could see the chemtech's jungle camouflage ability working if it functioned like a... shroud? Conceal? Where instead of a full on stealth, it just conceals who it is you see there by making them some sort of cloudy silhouette or similar until you are close enough or they take action against a teammate. That way you know there is an enemy there, you can see they are alone, but whether it's a squishy Nami placing wards in the area or the fed Talon waiting to jump on you you have to get close enough to find out or be able to see the other members of their team and do some deduction. Think when someone steps out of Senna's shroud (her E) where they just appear as a ghoul for a brief moment.
They could make other Odyssey skins be bosses too for replayability. Say, we have Kayn being the villain as in canonical lore of that universe, but for the gameplay diversity your team can meet any of the Odyssey cast that you haven't picked. It's not like gameplay reflects the lore in League anyway, as shown by literally any game mode there is. Also would be happy to see either two rotating game modes, say one for PvP and one for PvE or PvP replacing PvE and vice versa everytime the rotating game mode changes. Might also bring more >engagement< when you're playing different game modes from time to time, not just urf and urf and urf.
Rito: *removes the items exclusive to Nexus Blitz* Players: *like it less* Rito: Clearly it's the mode that's wrong. Also, for the Odyssey game mode, isn't Zed's legendary skin from that universe as well ? Not to mention that now, well, there's Aatrox, Khazix, Sivir as a mercenary hired to kill the players ! As well as the outside of game items, like Ziggs' healing mines or Sona's multidirectional ult !
@@alexursu4403 All of them along with Karma were released after the Odyssey game mode but even back then with 6 skins that woul multiply the replayability, even moreson with the new skins like Zed and Aatrox
"we will not make come back other gamemodes course they arent played enough but they want more of them, and we dont want urf course people paly it too much and dont want to come back to the base game" it seems that they arent happy that players dont let them be in their comfort zone of doing the minimun wild rift is the best example, they are doing stuff, and good stuff
Particularly star guardian, I had a blast trying to complete the challenges with my friends, and playing new team comps. I miss PvE so much, I wish you could just custom gamemode it. An open-champion pool PvE mode, with really difficult challenges that force you to think outside the box would be really exciting. honestly that SHOULD have been the sentinel event.
While I also don't think disabling all chat is the best way, I do think it solves 1 problem that even the riot devs didnt mention in the post. The people who intentionally want to lose and give away key positons like where the ally jungler is, or when the team is going for baron or dragon. It for sure doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen, and even if its not a solution for the flaming (since as everyone mentioned, team chat is the really toxic one) it does make it a bit better in the situation I mentioned above. And yes, I know that ppl who want to lose will find a way, but if they additionally can give away allies efforts to win the game (calling out a sneaky baron/dragon) it makes it just that much harder to win with someone who wants to lose.
I agree 100% about the events odyssey and star guardian were the best espacially odyssey with those upgrades you could unlock(so it actually had replayability)
Or someone in team chat screaming TOP GAP and then your top lane opponent coming to your defense. Honestly I have had more people in All Chat defending me than Team.
for me personally the removement of all chat is a bad thing, i like interacting with chat, making fun of flamers or getting into fun conversations even with the enemy team. But there was a time, when i definetly cared more when other ppl flamed me. i raged like crazy so i understand that decision. it's bad for the players who enjoy all chat, but not removing it would be worse for ppl who are likely to overthink stuff
I am an overthinker and think the removal of all chat is wrong. Maybe its just because I play with friends who are like "no they're wrong you did everything you could there" when I fuck up though.
Didn't really get the point of "Now they just do it behind your back"...Like okay? They can still talk shit about you in their own team chat, this doesn't really change anything
it does make sense why viego and akshan has stealth and also kinda makes sense why vex ult is long and can dash to it since she is lazy she just rided shadow. about all chat i really like all chat because aside from the toxic stuff its really fun to just talk to the enemy team sometimes
About Vex needing mobility, I think the dash is very important because it gives her battle flexibility (especially because she has Personal Space W while being a squishy immobile mage). I mean, a giant mountain also has a dash that knocks up enemies in an area.
Idk if you still don't know this but 3:37 Thresh dragon's is on top of the lantern and 4:13 Volibear dragon is on top right, there's a space behind him to show the dragon, ig they didnt use that instead of far background. Tho it's true that the duality is missing. I think the duality is that other side of him is white and the other is black which is possibly a reference to yin yang
"Ultimate spellbook was a success, while PvE modes weren't" Nice, I played the PvE modes like crazy, because I wanted the rewards. Do you know how many games I had of Ultimate Spell Book? Two. Because I'm the kind of player that got bored out of SR's gameplay and also drafted bad ultimates both times I played the mode. Maybe the amountof players that would enjoy a PvE mode isn't the same, but I'm pretty sure then will have a big impact if they brought back Star Guardians or Odissey with new skins and more characters. I think they could easily make Star Guardian mode more replayable if you could alter the characters abilities like we could in Odissey, and also adding more SG skins to the mix and making player's options more varied. You could easily make it a competitive mode (Still PvE) by creating more corrupted/dark SG's characters and tracking scores for the "factions". You could make that each character that is part of a team (Lux's team, Ahri's/Neeko's team, and the corrupted SG's like Zoe and Rakan/Xayah) will garner points for their faction. I dunno man, there is definitely a way to make better PvE modes that are successful
the problem is riot is lazy when it comes to game modes. they rather tweak one or two rules of summoners rift and release it again as an event game mode instead of the work necessary to make a new map with new visuals and different basis of gameplay. i know it can be "a lot of work" for a temporary event, but for a game that literally has the same two maps and game modes for the past 10 years that just about never drastically changes...come on riot. i think its also deeply rooted in riot believing they can never outdo themselves by making something better and more long-lasting than summoners rift so they rather not even try because they think it'll be a failure and a waste of time anyway...all while their long term playerbase is tired and bored of the same old crap for 10 years now. its also kind of almost a hostage like situation where they are constantly shoving summoners rift down our throats and are afraid that if they give us anything else that we will abandon summoners rift permanently...like whats wrong with having choices riot. if you forcibly lock us in a room with summoners rift thats only gonna make us not want summoners rift even more when you do finally give us options, making it artificially look like choices are bad for the rift
@@shoyrushoyru right? If Riot had a good balance of different modes that could attract different styles of players, the game would probably have much more players. Honestly, I think Dominion would be thriving today if Riot hadn't axed that super early, all the needed to do was change the mode a little bit, maybe add some new stuff that made sense. Riot really needs more modes, modes that work and are fun and will keep a playerbase that likes to play that. Why do some gaming companies feel the need to choose for players what negative/positive experience they have? We all know what we sign up for when we play a competitive online game, and we have the tools to mute or disable all chat. Is it really worth babying the small fraction of logically inept players in the playerbase so they feel happier about playing the game? Riot wants to arbitrarily remove negative experiences just so the players are happy and spend more money on the game. It is extremely shallow. Let players decide on how they will play the game, and how they will interact with other players. It would've been a better change to implement a "Remove Chat" setting so people who don't want to deal with any chatting have that tool available to them. Why is my experience being decided despite there being tools in place that allow me to adjust how I take in the game? Sincerely a trash change. I couldn't agree more with you on the PvE Gamemode-Part. I really really really loved them and played like 1 or 2 games of it per day, most of the time a different strategy, another itembuild to go for that game and so on. They just felt pretty chill and yet you had to prove yourself. Loved it, was great either alone or with mates. URF and Spellbook however ARE successes, that's for sure. But when you play alone you have the problem that you can't really communicate properly and this - for me - most of the time resulted in getting flamed because I played these modes for trying out weird things. *sigh* I really do miss the PvE modes. Doom Bot too, for sure. Was a highlight back then when I started with my friends. Well. Maybe they'll get that they have to put in more replayability to those modes and they'll EXPLODE. Oh. And the missions for these modes were.. well. I actually wanted to do them and not just "Jeah, whatever, do 25 kills. Again. Or. Or 500k Dmg. No problem, mate, have fun as the support." like every other mode had..
