His right hand is at a right angle to the strings. I used to do that and was told to stop. I’m self taught and I don’t know where I picked it up.

Here's some more great "Tips For Guitarists" from Eliot Fisk. He discusses right hand arpeggios along with a funny story.

What is the moveable chord that is being used?
@StringsByMail
@StringsByMail 9 лет назад
Rick Macha It looks like the moveable chord he is using is essentially a type of barre chord on at the 2nd frets on the 4th and 5th strings, and the 4th fret of the 3rd string and 5th fret of the 2nd string.
@MatthewJohnFaunce

Rick Macha It's what is commonly called a 'power chord', which is a chord that consists of only the root and fifth. The first chord he plays is spelled, starting from the bass, e b e' b' e" e". The second chord is e f#' b' f#" b" e". n.b. The standard spelling for middle-c is c', and is spoken "one lined c." The open strings of the guitar are as follows: e a d' g' b' e", and the e"' at the first string, twelfth fret, is a "three lined e." (Each higher c above mid-c gets a new line.)

Good exercise, there's a million of them out there. I use that chord for tuning and as Elliot's video shows, it's unforgiving as you ascend the fbd [as when he gets to 10th position..."G" on 5th sting] BTW I don't recommend using only this one chord for tuning, if you flip that chord around you get a different stack of 4ths and 5ths...E A E A E A low to high... the idea is to avoid using intervals of a major 3rd, which has to be sweetened slightly according to whether you have one or more major chord in a very exposed situation. [If all else fails....get a clip on tuner...from String By Mail of course] lol

E is the root of all the chords, so almost all the names are wrong

No, the open E strings are incidental. He's moving in the cycle of 5ths using the note fretted on the 5th string.

Why do you always run? He has to teach slowly what he does, we are not Formula 1 drivers
