And another beautifful Lady that melted by Bobby...... the reactiion of Miss J:J: is so true and lovely.. She is so so so cute ... a bussy on your cheek.... :)
No bravado, no mugging for the crowd, no bragging, no ridiculous outfit, and no auto-tune. Just walked out, suit & tie. Sang the song LIVE... better than anyone before or since. Smiled, received his applause and went home. Bobby Hatfield.
@@redsoxrox37 Strange reply. Bravado is false bravery... _a pretense_ intended to impress or intimidate. For example, today's rappers are all bravado, all bragging, all ego, all style over substance. And it's strange to say "has one" - Lol - has _A bravado?_ No, this wasn't bravado... Bobby Hatfield _had_ a quiet & reserved manner. A calm confidence which let his performance make it's own impression devoid of bravado. BTW - I checked out your vids and I saw you also _just performing..._ without any pretense or bravado. Bravo!
Ok guys I have someone for you, listen to Floor Jensen of Nightwish and her performances on the program Beste Zengers, Phantom of the Opera! One if not the best singer in the world today!
He was definitely an especially talented singer, but I wouldn't kid yourself about singers today lacking talent. That's an easy conclusion to reach just listening to a radio station because all of that is indeed quite processed, but who listens to a radio anymore? There are plenty of talented artists out there that are easy to reach directly without having to endure the filter of the corporate world. Might as well be sitting in front of a TV tuned to a channel with only advertisements playing all day. Find yourself a streaming service, pick something you like, and search for anything else like it. You'll have more content than you can ever consume and you can decide the quality for yourself.
@Blackhole That's patently ridiculous, as many thousands of talented singers have performed live long before and after this man. You can and should value all talented singers. Who cares when or how? This tired idea that somehow the advancement of time is synonymous with the degradation of anything, including singing ability, is something every aging person ever has experienced. It's called declinism, and you should let it go.
This is real.music.....When talent shone through not good looks or a big booty or a glorified gangster.. All this bs about you gotta live and eat... YOU don't need to make £1000 dollars a day to eat well so cut the bullshit... IT'S VANITY you seek
...this song and particularly the song and clip together..ought to be shown to every human....so that they can catch a glimpse of ...the Lord’s ...Beauty on earth as it is in heaven....amen
Running around the same age group here, I don’t remember the women having quite the same reaction then but close. Plus our speakers weren’t as good then. I also agree that we did have some of the best music of the times. The right girl, the right 8 track, and the right car or place and you were bound to have a great night. And don’t forget we had some great dance music of all time, back when you would actually dance with the girl up close and slow. Funny how the Righteous Brothers were considered Rock and Roll back then. Don’t forget Elvis either. Yeah we had some great music in the “ Old Days “ . Haven’t been able to really dance with a girl to good music for a long time. Just my opinion of course.
It’s his voice, it’s his everything. His voice and delivery of the song are moving and flawless…a performance for all time. But his demeanor…..little-boy-like adorable coupled with gorgeous masculinity (his jaw-line, the confidence to wear a pink jacket)…. it’s the whole picture that makes women melt when they (we) watch it.
It is believed that the legendary singer "Bobby Hatfield" did in fact bite his bottom lip, due to the fact that both his parents were in the audience, watching him sing. Apparently, he was shaking with nerves because Bobby had noticed them and didn't want to mess it up, which of course he didn't. With nerves of steel, he calmly walked out, held the mic and just sang, no auto-tune, no gimmicks, no effects, just him and his smooth soulful voice. What a performance on the Andy Williams show, they just don't make singers of that quality anymore.
I viewed this airing. If I recall we were viewing this on a black & white television set. It's grand that it was recorded in color and was saved for future generations to enjoy.
Wow, I've watched this a few dozen times and never realized it was performed on the Andy Williams show! He is another great singer (crooner) that more people should do reactions for!
....i ssssssoooooo agree, and i withnessed the RIGHEOUS BROTHERS too........ ***swoon**** i heard a song by Stevie Wonder the other day in the store, and told the saleslady...... before he was your Steve Wonder....... he was our "Little Steveie Wonder" and he rocked us all.... music made us all friends....... didn't matter the color,...... it was all about, "show us what you got !!!!" The PLATTERS, Dionne Warick, Otis Redding (i was in San Fran "sitting on the dock of the bay"), THE JACKSONS....i could go on..... and ohhhhhh i almost forgot Johnny Mathis, (It's not for me to say)..... first album i bought with my first paycheck........ ***sigh****
I'll be 72 this week 6/10/49 I am a great songwriter, I wish even today that God would perform a miracle in my voice to sing like Bobby Hatfield did. I will always love the music 🎶 from the Righteous Brothers.!!
Probably the greatest singer of the 20th century. Bar none. RIP Bobby. Women are left shaking and crying...a few men as well. The man is an icon and rightfully so
@@Patrick-tq5jo Agree. That song, when performed by Whitney Houston, is the only female perspective song I can think of which comes close (both emotionally and vocally) to this live performance of Unchained Melody by Bobby Hatfield.
@@dennisquinn8558 Whoa whoa whoaaaaa hold your horses there. To you maybe....to me that song isn't even close to Unchained Melody's emotional power. To me, they are not in the same league at all.
You’re feeling that way because you have just listened to the greatest love song of all time that was ever written, recorded, and sung!!!! Anyone, in the world, would be extremely hard pressed to surpass this MOST ICONIC love song. I was a young girl when this came out, and it was as amazing then as it is now. I believe this came out somewhere between in 1965-1967/8. It was such a different world back then. It was a simpler time, and most all guys were gentlemen because at that time, parents taught their young boys to always be kind, humble, and respect women. Today we have parents who just don’t give a crap. Sad, sad, sad, but true. He always was a crooner, and had the American girls/women eating out of the palm of his hand. But on and ending note, you said you thought he was so cute. My dear, you should look in the mirror because you are simply stunning! Blessings to all 🙏
Cheap old mic. Notice how he has to tilt the mic and pull it away so it picks up the sound the right way. Another level of brilliance. This is the best vocal performance I’ve ever seen.
I have heard thousands of live performances. This has to be one of the best singing performances I have ever heard. Stunning!! He is hitting 2.5 Octaves, Amazing.
if I could sing like Bobby Hatfield I would never get anything done. I would just sit around singing to myself all day. The range of his voice is one of the most incredible ever
Back then, men respected women and expressed how much they loved them. Today's music is all about degrading them instead of respecting and honoring them as they should. That's why these young women are so emotional hearing these songs. They don't know what it's like to hear and see how they should be treated. Different times, different eras.
I have said this SO many times. Men and women were designed by God as equals, but not as identicals. We are wired differently, period, and that's why this music (and classic, positively masculine behavior in general) hits modern women with such emotional force - they aren't ready for it, haven't been primed to expect it, and thus it hits them at a deep, subconscious level. If you watch reaction videos to this song, it is ALWAYS the same.
@@dianeolsen33 nowadays "singers" got something phrased in certain tune, then sampled in a higher pitch, back then they did it on 2-15 takes to get it right!
Yes, that was my first thought as well. Reminded me of A young Janet Jackson. Flawless milk chocolate skin, gorgeous features. The accent is just icing on the cake for me. Loved the natural reaction to this. Do more reactions.
This was a period in time when singers had talent and didn't rely on gimmicks or electronic mixing to produce their vocal quality. They had it or they didn't make it.
It was february 1980, i was working on a ship and we were sailing from the Canary Islands to Lagos Nigeria with our boat filled up with frozen fish. I was in love with a pretty girl in my hometown IJmuiden in the Netherlands...Aletta was her name she was 19 and i was 20 years young.. At one night during a coffeebreak i smoked a cigarette and i was listening to the radio with my Portugese sailer friends..and then this song come out of the radio, at that moment i knew that i will quit sailing when i return in the Netherlands...and i did !! One of the best songs i ever heard..Aletta sadly past away march 2008, but when i hear this song i always look to the Heaven above me and smile....in lovely memory XXX
I was 15 when Bobby performed this and I get a kick out of watching all the young girls reacting to this for the first time, fanning themselves LOLOL... well ladies, they were fanning themselves back in 1965 also!
It’s always fun seeing women listen to one of the greatest love songs of all time sang by one of the greatest singers of all time. Yep, it’s legendary and no most modern love songs don’t even live on its shadow. Glad you enjoyed.
then 25 year old Bobby Hatfield the most underrated and forgotten voice of all time and every single time i watch or hear him sing this i end up in tears and it never fails , i am sorry that my generation of peace and love and save the trees and the animals and the planet and mankind totally sold out and we left the younger generation in a real pickle but i will say this , My Generation sure got the music right !!! R.I.P. Mr Hatfield
Notice he bites his lip and then he smiles because this blue eye singer knows fully well that he just nailed it without any problems. And he was nervous because his mom and dad were in the audience.
What is good about this is the start with you normal, easy going & then "POW" Bobby swoons you into a stupor to where you can't think straight. It is beautiful. "He's so cute" is your last words with a clear head
This is the Epitome of Romance. This is actually what the original notion of the idea was. The old Crooners had the ability to put so much power and emotion into their voices that both women and men would swoon and know they had a keeper. Makes you realize just how badly Romance has been watered down and how much has been lost, and most people just do not realize that.
I have listened to this 12 times TODAY.....I know what is coming, when it is coming and how it is coming....heard it HUNDREDS of times.....Hundreds.....and I get chills EVERY time....TODAY !...... How is that possible?????????????????
I love your reaction to this, every time I watch Unchained Melody sung by Bobby Hatfield I just melt, he was so handsome and this live performance is the best ever recorded by any artist. RIP Bobby x
"Why did he bit his lower lip?" That was a unintentional facial expression because he knew he just nailed that song. He did not sing those highs on the original studio version. Probably did not know he just did the best single love song performance ever but he knew he nailed it.
This song was meant for them it will never be surpassed most beautiful song it will live forever. No computers no big sound equipment just beautiful voices and a great orchestra
And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, was the effect Bobby and his voice had on many a young woman, when this song came out, and all subsequent times it was played. Also, this is a testament to Bobby's singing ability, he sang this song live, no auto-tune, no tricks, just his natural ability at the age of 25. Also, Empress Joy-Jean, you are not alone in noticing Bobby bite his lip like that at the end of the song... many women noticed it as well lol
