Honda says the take rate for the 2.0T was about 10% but at the same time they never marketed it. A lot of people didn't know the 2.0T even existed and since Honda doesn't allow for special/custom orders, dealers would just order 1.5T's and Hybrids. Fun story: When I went to buy my 2.0T, the dealer I went to (the only local one willing to do MSRP, I just had to wait 3 months) was giving me the paperwork for a Sport Special Edition, which is a 1.5T. They thought the Sport SE was a 2.0T and didn't know there was a difference, and they're the Honda dealer... If it was either better marketed or there was more consumer information, I have a feeling it would've sold better.

Acura presents a positive experience while Honda is a letdown at dealer. Also warranty repairs are atrocious and denied.

@@macaron3141592653 The base Camry has 202 horsepower and the base Accord has 192. It definitely looks more tame and generic compared to the last gen, although it does look decent. I’m just not excited by Hondas new styling direction with the new gens as the new Civic comes to mind. What’s always made Honda vehicles so great was their more exciting sharp styling which it has lost now. The cheap hard plastics and again, plain door panels and seats is a real bummer. No rear seat ventilation on that level of trim is freakin inexcusable. The road noise seems high on concrete roads and over rough pavement which could be a dealbreaker for some people.

I haven't liked the bodystyle for years, more specifically the body shape. I still enjoy the body shape of the generation ending in 2017. While I will admit, Honda has improved the style of the front of the Accord, the rear bodyshape just doesn't do it for me. That and the fact that I enjoyed the older model's design that had better viewing angles from the interior and less blind spots. All of the tech that has been created is more of a distraction than a help in making a workaround. The backup camera does have some other practical uses that are truly helpful and less of a workaround.

This 11th gen is growing on me, but the 10th is definitely better. There are things that this car is lacking that would definitely actually make it an improvement over the 10th gen. It’s sooo bland. The most troubling aspect of the 10th to 11th Gen transition (other than the demise of the 2.0T as you note in your video title) is the feature deprecation in 11th Gen models compared to their 10th Gen predecessor trim levels. This is the "top" 11th Gen Sport trim (Sport L). Here's what it omits compared to the outgoing Sport 2.0T: driver's side map pocket - gone, rear seat air vents - gone, rear USB charging ports - gone, LED fog lamps - gone, stitched, padded rear armrests - gone (replaced with uber-cheap molded polyurethane textured units).. The all leather interior is nice, the new styling is bland but inoffensive (and I agree lacks any traditional Honda styling quirks - call it generic), it is a bit quieter in terms of NVH compared to the outgoing generation, etc. But here's the thing. it's a family sedan. It is woefully inadequate as a VW GTI performance driving/motorsports alternative. Families often use all of the seating positions for, well, family members. And this is not an inexpensive trim level. The deprecation of the occupant comfort and convenience features is kind of silly cost-cutting in a model better for people carrying than canyon carving. It's like the accounting team (Yen savings focus) and experience design team (customer use case focus) didn't talk during the project. I also wonder whether the drop in price of the base RWD single motor Tesla Model 3 to ~$30k after tax credits will decimate mid-sided family sedan segment sales (particularly Accord and Camry). The Tesla is RWD and handles better than FWD vehicles, is quicker than any 11th Gen Accord in its single motor base clothes, and quicker than all but the V6 Camry models/trims, has comparable generous passenger interior space, and for much of the US is supported by a now truly expansive Supercharger network (i.e., the 278 mile per charge range of the base model isn't much of a liability vs a gasoline powered sedan). As a newer brand Tesla also has a lot more "cachet" than these hoary old "fleet" sedan model lines. Still, it's not too late for Honda to redeem the 11th Gen. All it would take would be a limited production Type R model. Maybe with the 2.0T model with the LSD and DCT borrowed from the Type R and a hooning-oriented suspension tune, or an AWD version borrowing Acura's SH-AWD and one of Honda's surviving V6s (the new 3.5 DOHC unit in the Pilot or the 3.0 from Acura). Honda still has the pieces in production to make a more engaging, enthusiast oriented Accord. Will they? Probably not.

How is it that my 2013 EX came with turn indicators on the sideview mirrors PLUS driverside blindspot camera and this don't? 2023 Honda still using prompt rods, no panoramic sunroof, no rear Air vents(that's just harsh), lol bigger screen than what comes in the Pilot yet no 360 views the same 3 basic views since 2018..... I’ll be keeping my 2017 EX-L Coupe V6! The 2023 seems so poorly designed and overpriced when compared to the previous gens that I’m going to burst out laughing next time I take my 2017 to the dealership for service and the salesman asks me if I’d like to trade it in for a’23. I’m a devoted Honda fan though - I’m looking forward to whatever they produce in future years. I’m going to remain optimistic, hopefully they’ll get it right next time.

Not for me. I have always bought the last year for the model honda I liked. 2000 civic, 2012 accord and now my 17 accord. This way, You get the refreshed version you like, and the kinks have been worked out. I don't know what they've done to this 5 yr haul they've created (model lifespan) gets refreshed 3 yrs in. Run the refresh for 2 yrs, then on to the next generation. But as for this generation, I won't be getting one. Remember the 10 gets fuel/oil mixing problem in the 2018's and 2019'. That was the new 10th gen model. The had all the stuff worked out as the generation runs and exposed problems have been address. But this lack of power, I mean the engine isn't even connected to anything. Did you know that? It's literally there to make power for the battery and has fake shifts as it is not connected to a transmission. I'm so confused by these choices, oh and 6 modes of braking?!!?

Based on your review, maybe I’m missing something, this new accord is not worth it for the price. They cut corners, all for a more expensive price tag compared to its competition.

Completely agree with you @ ~14:30 - I definitely haven’t been a big fan of the outgoing generation’s interior or exterior but Honda certainly knocked that incoming gen out of the park with all its aesthetics. The only reason I wouldn’t personally purchase one would be because of the seemingly underwhelming powertrains (ie: just leased a ‘23 Sonata N-Line and *love* it), but otherwise, it looks to be a great and much needed product offering in their evolving lineup.

What Honda really is missing is that most drivers are boring drivers, hence, large portion on SUV sales. Those of us that like & want cars are, a large part, enthusiasts. That means make an enthusiast's car, not a rental fleet hero.

Never buy the first year of a new Honda Accord! You will get more if you wait a year or two. The 2.0T is a nice car - we rented one for a trip a few years ago. I love my 2014 Honda Accord EX Sedan with a 2.4L non turbo engine AND CVT!!! Just turned 80K miles on the odometer last week. Currently I only put < 5K miles a year and I will see what the new Accord has to offer when I retire, in 3 years:)

Is it really solely the wheel size that’s making the change in mpg between models?
@mjm291982
@mjm291982 Год назад
It actually is. The most fuel efficient model is the exl with the smaller wheels. So you pay more for a a big car on tiny wheels [compared it's size], hybrid battery weight, and an engine that solely serves as a generator. If you get the 19's you start, it's takes a bite out your mileage. Makes all that extra stuff, just for things that can break or malfunction not worth it, 🤔, maybe if the hybrid made it fun to drive, but it's wheel size seems to play a large role, so........

Think it's a disappointment from the 10th generation. It was alot more sportier and I think it's just going to make the 2.0t more valuable or even the 1.5t at that. The power of the gas engine 10 speed and turbo honda was on to something. They should of kept the sporty look cause not everyone want to drive a civic.
@jessizzle5575
@jessizzle5575 Год назад
without the 2.0t performance this car is not worth the money imo. with markups these things get close to 50k, for that money even if im looking towards practicality, id expect it to be a little fun to drive. for almost 20k less you can get the new 200hp prius which will outperform it and get significantly better gas mileage. with awd as an option. if you need a hybrid honestly its a no brainer
