This is so much better than the base models of the Grecale. I love the interior design and didn't realize that was their Nettuno engine, thought it was the V8 again. Great choice and love this car.
Ordered my wife a trofeo in this exact spec. The yellow stitch strangely works with the blue when you spec the yellow calipers, and was really only choice with the blu intenso paint
Just bought this model. It's also my second Maserati. Just love these cars. Nobody gets laid driving a Tesla. You always get laid if you own a Maserati.
I find this such a beautiful car. Though I hate to see these legendary sports car brands making these SUVs they still need to survive. If I had that kind of money & was looking for a SUV I'd go for the Grecale, but like you I'd get it 2nd hand so that someone else takes that first hit 😅 The Macan probably has a better build quality but it's not that special or good looking. But it'll probably have a better resale value. Heart says Grecale but head says Macan
Great review Sam and quality shots. I've poked around the Grecale and found the interior to be quite nice. Would you say the build quality and finish is on par with German cars ?
Lowered with a simple tune on the engine for more power, quicker spool, and torque it could really do some damage. Not sure about how Maserati hold up though
And after a 3 year lease the captive automotive finance company still has to off load the car to another customer that gets to live with the misery of poor reliability while making a monthly payment. They may look good and perform well when they are running but a poor choice of purchase after the initial lease.
Looking at 2019 Levante (as a comparable Maserati SUV) for reliability scores and not finding anything of any detriment - online reviews from owners appear to quite positive. I believe this reputation of poor reliability is based on the sub par build quality of the early Quatroporte models and the parts bin Ghibli.
I purchased a used Ghibli SQ4 3 years ago. Put 90,000kms on it. Absolutely love it. Just oil changes and had to do the brakes last year. I'm actually looking at a used Levanti now as well. Such a great value used.

I know this might be sacrilegious, but I’ve said for years if you flip the crest/logo upside down then the trident would also be an “M” for Maserati vs a “W” that it is now. It is sexy looking though 👍
LOL. It will be in the shop more than it will be on the road. Oh, and enjoy the plummeting resale value as soon as you drive it off the lot. If you're smart you'll by a used Grecale or a new Macan GTS.
The residuals are a joke on this car. This makes leasing Grecales a terrible deal……especially when compared to well-spec’d Macans, whose residuals are in the mid-to-high 60% range. No thanks, Maserati.
@@SamCarLegion both are luxury brands but not in the same class and unfortunately Hyundai doesn´t have the experience like the European engine manufacturer.
The Macan GTS is quite isolated in terms of driving feel. It's well build, feels solid, goes fast, overall a very well sorted car, but it's just not that exciting to drive compared to a Stelvio QV for example. Italians really do have their own recipe. I was thinking of a test drive of this Trefeo spec but like you said, those damn gear buttons really really put me off... It's not that good looking on the outside either, especially the headlights. Levante is pretty sexy looking in comparison. This is an important product for Maserati, but some of the key design decisions they made are just mind-boggling. Thumbs up to the production quality improvement 👍.
Seem like these kinds of whips always get leased by the wealthy n when resale hits drug dealers / hustlers n people new car shopping see these depreciated n clean n affordable buy it and can’t handle all the gremlins n maintence then the already semi reliable vehicle become the worst . So I feel we never get to actually see how reliable they really are .
I actually purchased a used low mileage great condition Maserati Ghibli SQ4 3 years ago now and absolutely love it. Bought it with 30,000km on it, now up to 123,000km. Just regular maintenance. Most expensive items were the brakes but I found a cheap place online for parts. My mechanic/friend even bought a used one as well. Just have to take care of it like any other vehicle.
@@alexruska2701 oh yeah , I always wanted a damn quattroporte with the zf 6 speed or a grand turismo always thought if it got the zf trans I can handle the maintenance on. Everything else what problems u had on yours bro
@philly spitta81 honestly no problems at all. Brakes were expensive but expected for this vehicle. The car looks, sounds and drives incredible and with the depreciation they're a bargain used.
production value is getting better! To increase your youtube engagement and have viewers continue to watch the video, you need ti structure your videos like Matt watson does from carwow. Watch a carwow dedicated car review video and you'll see how he segments the video up and cuts it up. You have too much rambling/long segments and need editing to stay more concise or funny/entertaining, this will help you
@@philippedupuis9219 first of all, I am really impressed you got a 2023 Macan GTS so early in the year 🙄. Second, I added myself all the features on the Macan, and it came about 124k with no air ride.
So it looks like a Chinese copy of a Macan and people think it's the competitor? :) Maserati is an unreliable and crappy driving mess, Porsche Macan is the most reliable in it's class and the best driving SUV on the market, a totally opposite thing :)
I test drove this car today but it was the Modena priced out at 92k (72k w/o extras). My wife who is not a car person didn't like it and I absolutely hated it. Porsche nor Audi has anything to worry about except the onslaught of trade-ins.

Sorry. When you buy a car, you intend to drive on a daily basis and keep it for a long time. Cars as investments are a silly way of making money; not only does it hurt the actual car by driving it slowly in small distances, but also hurts the brand since the cars are not intended to be driven properly, they break down. If you are looking for investments, stick to the stock market. If you want to buy a car for your needs, both models are equally good. If you are worried about depreciation, just dont a get a car and stick to your Ford Fiesta.
Come on let's be realistic here. A Maserati has always had poor quality and poor reliability as compared to a Porsche. It also has a horrible re-sale value as a product here in the US, Gee I wonder why that would be? Because of all this its no real threat to a Macan. It's an offering in the space but it's no real threat. Lets put things in their proper perspective.
It’s definitely a threat. And I’m not surprised they’re competing against Porsche. In reality here Maserati should be more prestigious than Porsche, they have a longer racing heritage then Porsche starting in the 30s. That was before the first Porsche even came out. Ferrari should actually be more of their competitor as Maserati actually existed before Ferrari. I must admit Stelantis has definitely had a big hand in the crappy quality and somewhat lack luster recent years of Maserati but they’re making a comeback. I hope it goes well for them.
