Really healthy plants! Are you using the stock nutrients from rise garden or do you supplement and manage nutrients and PH levels with other products?
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener 2 года назад
I am using all Rise Gardens nutrients! They have worked well for me. Checking pH regularly has been very key as well!

Great video. How do you arrange the garden to keep a constant harvest of vegetables? since they seem to take 4 weeks to harvest what to you do in between times once the harvested veggies are picked?
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener 2 года назад
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! What you can do is something called session planting. This is when you start seeds for a particular fruit/veggie that you like every week. For instance, if you like swiss chard. I would start the seeds and perhaps wait for them to sprout and then start another seed pod. This would most likely take up the bottom row of your Family Garden but this gives you the opportunity to harvest them multiple times and always have some. I hope this helps! I just may do a video on this to give it more context! :-)

Which ph/ec/temp monitor did you purchase? I’m considering getting one. Thanks
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener 2 года назад
In the past I have used the electronic ones but have found over time that when the batteries lose their power, the readings are off. I prefer the General Hydroponics drops and determine the pH readings from the chart. I don't really check my EC.

When you’re harvesting do you pull the entire plant from the root or do you just take off how ever many leaves or vegetables you want, while leaving the root?
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener Год назад
It all depends on what it is. I typically pull the entire plant, root and all. Although, keep in mind that the roots can get pretty massive and difficult to remove.

Hi great video! Just a question, can you use outside sourced seeds or are you limited to just rise garden products?
@themochafoodiegardener

Thank you! 😊 You absolutely can grow your own seeds by using Rise Garden's seedless pods or Rapid Rooter pods found on Amazon. Good luck and happy gardening 🌿☘️🍀

When just starting zero experience, never grown anything. Been watching lots of videos interested in growing my own food. Currently dont eat lots of salad but transitioning and I do like to cook. I have researched and believe this system is what i want but torn on buying the two tier or starting with a personal size to get the hang of it before forking over that much money. If I like the system will I regret buying the smaller unit rather than just going with the bigger one.
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener Год назад
Great questions! I would say if you just want to grow culinary herbs and salad greens, I would stick with the Personal Garden. But from what I am reading, you want to have a more substantial amount so I suggest getting one (you can always add on later) or two to start. I began with two levels and went to a third after a year but still haven't used the 3rd level yet. With two levels you can grow larger fruits and veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers and Swiss chard. The second level will be perfect for herbs, salad greens and flowers. Since you are new, I also suggest that if you do get two levels, start off slow, two large on the bottom, two herbs and salad on the top. I hope this helps 🤗

How many plants in total were you able to grow on 3 tier rise garden?
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener Год назад
I think Rise says you can grow up to 108 with a three-tier but I don't think I've done more than 15 and that is a lot. The garden is super easy but even that is a lot to manage.

From what I understand, the pods are made up of coco coir and peat moss. I hope that helps!

Do you have little bugs around or flies?
@themochafoodiegardener
@themochafoodiegardener Год назад
The only time I notice them is if I have something else growing near by. I've used the lights to grow mini potted plants or when I played around with other seeds in mini pots, I did get fungus gnats. I found that it was only when I used coco coir. Otherwise, I've never had an issue. I have heard of a few people who got aphids or spider mites but again, I think it is what you have around the garden.
