Rivian can sell the commercial delivery trucks not just to Amazon, but to every company that needs trucks because cities around the world will ban gasoline trucks.
They will succeed, I think. The Amazon deal is huge. Who else is in the self driving game? Tesla, Google, maybe Apple? Stellantis (lol.) All of these automakers gather self driving AI from their own testers and from their customers who self report their data. With Amazon, the drivers deal with a diverse set of driving scenarios everyday. More than your average driver. I think once their Amazon fleet is live, the data they will gain will push Rivian to the front of the self driving technology world.

Lol... all these "influencers" pushing to phase out fossil fuel cars without asking the hard questions about the sustainability and impact to the environment if EVs become mainstream. Does power grid is up to the task? Are we also phasing coal generated electricity? What regulation is in place to ensure that damaged or degraded batteries are properly recycled or disposed? What protection consumers have against predatory tactics to squeeze money out of consumers for vehicle repairs and software updates?
Short answer is yes that’s all been figured out. Feel free to do all the research you would like. Making a batteries is less of an environmental impact than extracting oil , Processing, transportation, accidental spillage,. If batteries or battery component spill out they’re simply picked up. Once there’s enough battery components in the marketplace it will be a circular loop and the environment won’t have to take any more mining hits. Most of these vehicles will be charged at night so there won’t be stress on the grid during the day. We are receiving enough energy from the sun wind and other means, It properly harnessed to help phase out fossil fuels…
They have super capacitors and solid state batteries etc etc. Coal and fossil fuels arent used because we need them, they are still used because of greed. Nothing more.

Everyone's assuming Amazon will still be open by then and that rivian will continue at a fast pace. With that said, as cool as the truck is they haven't proved anything yet. Only time will tell.

So instead you illustrate the strength of the relationship with Amazon bc odds are it will all work out. #2 "We wont be profitable for 15yrs" also gets you fired for crashing the stock. Tesla Wasn't profitable until 2020. It takes a long time for these companies to pay back the investments and then meet market demand but you don't want to tell people that. You can also find old interviews with Bezons where he clearly states that the stock price is a very poor measure and he doesn't care about it in the short term. If he cares so much about crashing the stock price (when it's clearly inflated by mem stonks as you said) then that IS a sign of a bad CEO.
He didn't give a direct and candid response to the "Amazon's Legal Obligation" question. That's a big red flag for me. A CEO who is not honest and who lacks integrity will not succeed in the long run. On top of this, he got a $650k salary and a $650k bonus last year(2020) in the midst of a pandemic and no-revenue year. He is more about enriching himself than putting his money in the business he trusts.

They appear more concerned with doing it right than doing it fast. This is a good sign. Crawl before you walk before you run. These aren't Amazon packages, and rushing things off the line isnt gonna cut it. Tesla's QA remains among the worst in the industry, and it sets a bad precedent for anyone else going electric, especially any newcomer. Given their current rate of burn, this healthy IPO, and their current position, Rivian is wise to measure twice, cut once.

Hope they can live upto expectations. NIO's model with battery swapping is still the most viable option. Batteries degrade and who / what will be producing l the ectricity needed to charge all these. Hope it will just displace emission from one from to another.

No, he is not, the EV market is growing at around 50% per year and is expected EVs would make up 50% of all light-duty vehicles sales by 2026 and 100% by 2028. At this growth, i do believe more companies will jump into the industry and succeed
