The Carcass Crew jumps back on their 1972 Camaro and are metal working the damaged core support. They show you the right techniques to bend and manipulate metal brackets to save you money. They'll also show you how they are going to install the carbon fiber fenders. Then, they show you how to create a custom steering column for your race car that won’t break the bank. Plus, they fabricate a custom dash to accept their new digital gauge cluster and show you an easy way to wire your project.

This is probably my favorite build , I've owned four Camaro's myself . And I was born in 1972 , so one of my favorite cars from the year I was born 👍

The fun I could have with that monster. That's a straight night runner, built for I40 between Little Rock and Memphis.

I'm doing a 68 mustang track car. I started with a 2008 ASA NASCAR chassis. I have to replace the front cross member so square it up. Going for a late 70"s IMSA vibe. Thinking about using the #20 Dekon Monza style flairs but am not going to be using 16" wide tires so that might not work. Tires need to be sticking out of the fenders 8 to 10" For it to look right. Next style to consider is the 1975 BMW IMSA 3.0 CSL cars fender style. Might mock up the BMW style on one side and the Dekon monza on the other side to see what looks best. I'll be mounting the body soon so I'll see how it will go. Got a vintage boss 302 from a A sedan race car I bought 35 yrs ago. I cut up the body and saved all the parts. Body was 2 cars welded together vary badly so not salvageable. Lots of work, lots of fun.

@30:30 you could also put a thin 1/8 strip of foam tape around all profile and then roll stamp ink or metal dye into. Align piece over where you want and press down. Viola!!!!

Absolutely love the car boys. I’d be thinking about bracing the crank with all the drives off the front of it

PCM/PDM offerings are currently in their infancy for the enthusiast. When they are combined with plug-and-play harnesses for specific applications, sales will take off. That and the reduction in price from economics of scale.

Isn't adding that aluminum tube to the outside of the collapsible steering shaft defeating the purpose of being collapsible??? Won't this now impale the driver with the outer tube in a crash?
@19chev81
@19chev81 3 месяца назад
No the collapsible part is still from the firewall to the steering box

I like most of the build, other rave cars I truly hate the wall. Even Nascar's, SCCA, are able to see out the back. It's not mine, but you ask for feedback.

I am using the same block as you are. Could you please give some details on what you used on the front motor brackets. I see crank trigger. What type of cam sensor and Ignition? These are the parts of my engine build where there is not much info on.

That back firewall ruined the look of the car. The original design looked so much better than that wall built into the roll cage. Just my opinion but it ruined the car.

I think it would have been faster, easier and better to not have destroyed that clean 72 and just built a tubular frame and hung some aftermarket body parts and custom sheet metal on it... you're ending up with a frankenstein car that you've chopped up so bad.. i mean what are you saving from the old car? part of the subframe, some brackets, parts of the quarters that you shouldn't be saving.. and you destroyed that old car... thats sickening

You must of been looking at another car, it was pretty rough. In the end its their car and they can do whatever they want
@zippythechicken

@@dalebickham2666nope that car was clean. I was a mechanic for years then autobody for years after that. that car only needed light repairs and they chopped the crap out of it. viewers have a right to an opinion because they make money off our views. we are the customer.

@@zippythechicken "clean" 72 that had been in a wreck. Good thing there are another 80000 out there that you can go save!
@zippythechicken
@zippythechicken 3 месяца назад
@@RetroCheater81that wasn't a wreck the frame wasn't damaged the core support wasn't bent bad just a bracket... if you throw cars away for a bent bracket you're a fool.. go find me 80k of them.... go find me 1k cars like that that aren't $100k because they're fully restored... they could have got $1500 in sheet metal and made a better car

You spend way to much time crapping on a rare classic car to be able to justify chopping it up.

Whats the point of covering the rear window. If youre gonna race with other cars you have to see them. Just another camaro build that will never see sunlight
