With our base set up, we still could use more food. There is a bear in the region, and we have a sled, so... let's go for a little trip? I am sure this bear will be no trouble at all.

I love that every episode from now on is considered “not Part 57” and eventually only us veterans on the channel will understand the lore Edit: Btw you and my Therapist are from the same country so sometimes when you speak i notice similar dialect. It’s pretty cool and makes you videos so much more immersive

14:05 Mental flashbang, I know it was for a COMPLETELY different context, but Outer Wilds is a video game that you (and everyone else) should definitely look into. It’s a space exploration, environmental puzzle game that is best gone into blind.

I came to this region blind, with my main run, preparing carefully and bringing in lots of food from FA. I explored and explored and explored and I remember this: I found one (1) single deer. That's it. The only renewable edible thing I found was a single deer. This, plus multiple consecutive blizzards, made me really really nervous. I was watching my resources go down with proper anguish. I came to the region fully prepared to explore, learn and conquer but it just seemed it was impossible to survive. So I started eating (so permanently losing) all non-renewable food and I just aimed to complete the Buried Echoes quest ASAP and GTFO. I just wanted out. I have to say, not the best feeling. I was fully prepared to enjoy a new reasonnable challenge. Instead I found a region with no edible animals, 20 to 30 wolves who do not give you meat and at some point it just feels like NOGOA, except I do not like NOGOA, do I, that's why I went with interloper! I am amazed you survived this long without having to do entire episodes fishing against scurvy and you just seem to breeze through these regions without need of gathering extra food. I really think us peons are missing something fundamental here.

14:05 Speaking of outer wilds, you should definitely play the game called Outer Wilds, not a survival game, but puzzle exploration, with a art style that reminds me of The Long Dark. Also one of the best game you will ever play. Risky session with these predator encounters, the clothes loss is tough. Totally agreed with the sip of thermos beverage, it's unnecessary tedious to remove the tea to drink it. Also we should get a one button shortcut for stims, like click once to select and another to use. 1:00:52, famous last words !!!

I used a thermos all the time for hot coffee at work, you cant really sip directly out of it, its awkward and tends to burn your tongue, it is best to unscrew the cap, which doubles as the cup, and pour a drink. So the mechanic, of removing a cup from the thermos and drinking it is actually more realistic.

Hi Zak. Great video, as usual. Regarding the second bear, yes, there is another one. Which makes this region very sustainable. On your Interloper ZoC blind run, that path that you took between 40 and 41 minutes, behind the waterfalls, near the cave system and the rope, he is there. If I remember correctly, you even crossed paths with him. Thanks a lot and all the best!

I think making a few Breyerhouse/Dockworker/Prepper Pies between your bases for situations like this would be a good thing to consider. The healing effect would be nice for times when you think, "I'd like to go out, but my health is just a little lower than I'd like."

Hi, random idea that you might completely ignore if you want ofc, but what do you think abt making one of those episodes of this series played with the filter(s) on, to show them off and how they be looking in the game? I'm referring to the ones somewhere in option settings, where you can enable stuff like black-and-white, sepia, old movies filter, stuff like that. Maybe make one of the videos with each one on for a bit as a showcase, maybe one video in each filter. What do you think? A lot of people don't realise those exist, and I think they're a neat visual novelty to try out in the game

zak theres a bug with the bow i noticed. when it doesnt let you draw, holster then take the bow back out that should fix it

I have a bug with my bow: Sometimes when I prepare my shot, there is no endurance meter decreasing and when I release, it just cancel the shot instead, and often no time to check that the shot doesn't work before retrying when a wolf is charging at you...

I've always wonderd what you would do if you did die at the start of a recording or about half way through. Would you lengthen the video with pictures of cats (I've seen that done), some recolections on the run and what went wrong or would you start a new main run in the same video? I hope it doesn't happen but with TLD danger can be behind every corner.

If you heat them all, you can select a hot one from the quick menu. If you don't you may have cold drinks in the quick menu.
