Songs about polish resistance in front of a polish audience... instant epic

I was married to a Polish woman, metal head as well, but new to Sabaton, when I introduce them to her weeks before a concert of them near us, she really got to love them and their music ("Uprising" is another song about the Polish during WWII). The day of the concert, before it, I surprised her with a Meet and Greet with the band where she could thank them for what theyve done with their music and for honouring her country. Then, during the concert, we were close to the stage and Joakim got to see her (not hard task to track a polish woman in a latinamerican crowd) in the crowd during this song and waved at her during one of the chorus. She got really happy and still does when she remembers it.

My history teacher played us this song when we were talking about the WWII and that's how I fell in love with them. The best teacher ever, he still does that, and it's awesome. It's not only teaching but also showing students great music. Here in Poland we talk a lot about both Wars and this is very hard topic, but with something like a song it's a bit easier to remember things and understand it.

Oh and one Sabaton story I think you'll love is the Hellfest 2019 story. Manowar was supposed to headline but cancelled like 12 hours or a day before. Sabaton played at Knotfest the day before so they were in town, offered to step in. Only thing was that the singer Joakim had lost his voice but they powered through but after 3 songs he couldnt do it anymore so the guitarists stepped in and did the main vocals instead with Joakim running backstage to print out lyrics to tape on the stage by the guitarists. Joakim remained om stage though to help rile up the crowd. They gained a LOT of fans for that. Thats some showmanship.

As an example of how willing they are to go the extra mile: when they were building up to The Great War, they reached out to a Russian artist known as Radio Tapok or something like that and said "hey, we've got this song coming out about Russia in WWI. You wanna cover it in Russian and release it before we do?" And he did, and it was awesome. So naturally, when they played in Russia, they invited him onstage and played with him. Pretty epic.

Sabaton the voice of Polish Patriotism

At Woodstock after the song, almost a million people sang the Polish Anthem. That was amazing to watch, hope you caught it.

Their live performance of Swedish Pagans at Wacken is definitely worth a look.

The woodstock version brings me to tears everytime

They are one of the best live bands hands down.

In the first video - left stage is modern Sabaton + their touring choir. Right side is old members + Par (the bassist). For the song Swedish Pagans, they brought out Tina Guo on cello to top it all off. After the song in Woodstock, the festival organiser stepped up and led the crowd through the Polish national anthem. It was incredible.

As I said in the live chat, Tank is the hero we need but don't deserve! Who else is gonna give you a double reaction when they realize the song was much bigger than at first glance? Only Tank!

Uprising is also about Poland, the great tour version of it is pretty epic

Damn! What a treat. All doubles this round... Two stages, two tanks on stage, double Tank reaction... Man, this band is so awesome and energetic live. Sabaton in fact has two tank/drum risers. One's named Audie, the other Walter.

Just noticed that as he sings the lyric "The captain has pledged his life" Joakim drops an invisible grenade 14:24. The little details are why I love this band!

I had the luck to be there in Wacken. The crowd was massive. Waited there for about 2h before the concert and still just got a place about 100m away from the stage . It was said there'd been about 100k people in the audience. The sound was so massive that you could understand the lyrics 1km away from the stage and miles away you still heard the bass.

I was at that Woodstock concert. I was on the right side of the stage under the flag. It was a surprise for the band and we were so excited that I don't even remember the actual song. The crowd was insane, too

The comment I once read, which sums up Sabaton perfectly in my opinion: "Sabaton makes you patriotic for any country they sing about" I.e Polish people cheering to "Ghost Division", which is about the German Wehrmacht

Sabaton's performance of Uprising at Woodstock is equally as epic. The song is about the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, and the crowd goes just as nuts. Definitely recommend.

I remember many years ago, when Sabaton weren't so well known, me and some friends went to see them in Newport (Wales), and we were drinking with them in the bar, and the whole bands signed my arm, good times

I was at that Woodstock concert, under that flag. I didn't see, I didn't care :) One of the most patriotic memories I have. One of the best memories I have. It makes me tear up everytime I am reminded of this experience :D

Rewatched this video again, and noticed the chorus actually has like 7 people singing and an entire choir singing too. This is a crazy video tbh

With this song and Uprising, Poland has a lot to be proud of.

"Swedish Pagans" with Cellist Tina Guo from the same Wacken Set is also amazing. A realy fun song for Woodstock would be "Butterfly Defect" by Kontrust.

Yes, you gotta react to Uprising live at Woodstock Poland too... In fact, you should make it a double feature and also watch Uprising live in Warsaw (Great Tour). The crowd in both versions is f*cking INSANE!

I've mentioned "Final solution" and "Price of a mile" before, and I'll stick to those as my recommendations, mainly because of the much heavier topics that most people, and even history teachers, shy away from. That for me is why Sabaton is worthy of the respect they've gained.

Back in 2006, Sabaton played their first sold out headline show outside Sweden in Duisburg, Germany. There were 150 people there and I'm proud to be one of them. ;) Also so proud of what the guys have achieved since then! Please also do more Sabaton, they have lots of epic stuff!

Yes they do have more than a 100 in the touring party. A physio-therapist that looks after not just the band members but also everyone else in the crew. They also have their own catering crew traveling with them so they get the food they are used to, any time they want. According to Sabaton's Great Tour 2020 vlogs it takes about 4 hours to set everything up on stage, and you need to have a lot of people to get it done in that time. Start rigging at 8am, everything up and ready for first soundcheck around 12.30-1pm. Tank - While it probably would be very interesting for you to have a look at the 2020 vlogs (lots of pre-show, backstage footage and band members goofing around in general) you can not do that. There is at least one or more song mixed in as background music in every episode and you have not reacted to them yet. I'm sorry to be the one to give you bad news like this but that's the way it is. Nice reaction and very considerate to also include the Polish performance. Cool fact about the Great War Choir: The members of the choir are dressed in the uniforms of each and every army that took part in that war. You can see the choir in action in the song ‘The Price Of A Mile’ of the same concert at Wacken Open Air 2019. I can highly recommend that one, goosebumps guaranteed! I noticed that it already popped up on your screen when 40:1 ended :-).

“Ridiculous” is a fitting word in the best of ways. This rendition of it and the Woodstock Poland show of it are both off-the-charts in energy.

Loving your reactions, it's great to see such a unique perspective on some of my favourite bands performances. Sabaton in particular, I'm not even ashamed to admit they make me cry. First time I heard Price of a Mile I sobbed.

I think its the 3rd time I look at this very reaction. I am listening to hundreds of Sabaton (and Amaranthe) reactions every year...and whats so special about yours .... in addition to watching my favourite band :-) is ......I also learn something from your reactions!! The "Great War Choir" are members of Czech Academic choir, they first sung with Sabaton in may 2019 in Pilsen, which was the biggest Sabaton-headlined concert(excluding festivals obviously) to date. I don't think any of them served, but they are wearing various WW1 uniforms.

I was lucky enough to see these guys live a few years ago - what amazed me now and back then was even in the smaller venues like the one I was at, they actually seemed to be able to take into account how the music would echo back from the walls and adjust their soundmix appropriately, it took the music up to a whole extra level for me - but I would still love to be able to get to see them at a festival! - what I also loved was not only was their music on point when I saw them, but they were genuinely enjoying themselves and just having a good time up on stage :)

Sabaton has been growing fast the last years and their production has just gotten bigger every time I see them. They just become more fun each time I see them live. Imo, they're one of the best live bands around currently. The old Sabaton members that played the on other Wacken stage all play in the same band; Civil War, which is very similar to Sabaton, except they're not as big yet :P I recommend checking out Swedish Pagans next, it's the one hymn that everyone starts singing between every song, even the band. They also had Tina Guo playing cello during that song at Wacken.

The song that got me into Sabaton, to this day just amazing listening to it everytime. I love Sabaton and their productions. Saw them twice, one time a few years ago in Glasgow(Scotland) in a small/medium club and earlier this year(when shows were still a thing) in Oberhausen(Germany) in a big Arena. Both shows were absolutely amazing and I recommend to everyone to go see Sabaton whenever it's possible.

Watching many of these reaction video makes me realised I've been utterly privileged to have been there in the crowd at these gigs - having been at Wacken 2013, 2015, 2017-19 and been there for Sabaton & nightwish plus many other bands. The two stages was epic to see, but am glad we picked the stage we did, as we had the band playing on the Faster stage all the way through. Those that stood in front of the Harder stage only had the video screens to watch for the first half of the show. For me - the Wacken 2013 sabaton set was the best, then 2019 then 15 Sabaton won us over from the first time we saw them take to the Bloodstock stage in 09 as the first "signed" band of the day after the fan voted unsigned act "Uncle Rotter" opened the main stage. Sabaton's half hour set blew us away and we've been fans ever since (the set is on RU-vid) Plus Wacken is such an iconic festival - and has so many songs written about it (JBO - Wacken ist nur einmal im jahr, Doro - Wacken Hymn, Skyline - This is W:O:A, 30 years, Onkle Tom - Auf nach Wacken, Grave Digger - Wacken Will Never Die, UDO - Heavy Metal W:O:A) plus several films

So glad you did both videos, I think both deserve reactions for different reasons - and you don't get the very same thing twice :) Like the second T-shirt too

I first watched a few of your videos today and I already feel like you deserve a LOT more than 40k subscribers. Your insight is very impressive and I feel like I'm learning a ton about what goes into a stage performance other than just the music. Stuff I never really knew about or didn't know to appreciate well enough. I also love that you're getting into my favorite band of all time. I was lucky enough to get to see Sabaton when they performed in Finland last year and it was and still is one of the best performances I've ever seen, and I've been to see the likes of Iron Maiden, Metallica and Nightwish. If you ever get the chance to go to one their live performances, you'll be in for a real treat. With covid, who knows what the future holds, and when the live performances can go full swing again, but I think there's no harm in being a little optimistic. Stay healthy and keep doing what you're doing. Content like this brings relief into otherwise depressing times. Thank you!

We've been lucky where we live and have seen Sabaton live 4-5 times now in the last 7ish years, even on the smallest of stages, their show is still hands down one of the most energetic and fun things I've ever been too!

The choir adds so much to this show. They make everything sound epic when they jump in.

A couple things I wanted to say: 1) Did you realize that you were headbanging so hard your camera was shaking? You missed how the Polish flag suddenly looked like it was boiling when the chorus started. 2) Love that you went to the Sabaton History for the song after reacting. My favorite part of that video is the comment about not being able to leave the country alive without playing 40:1 when they tour in Poland.

Great video, both videos are great, so it's a well deserved double reaction. If I'm not mistaken, the singer Joakin is of both swedish (of course) and polish families, so he surely relates to the pride the polish people must feel listening to it.

There's a video from some fan from another show where Floor is coming on stage and gives Joachim an AK-shaped guitar^^ Can't beat that unique-ness.

Sabaton really seem to enjoy putting on a show and they seem to really appreciate their fans. Not long ago, I believe Manowar threw a hissy fit during a festival and cancelled. Sabaton stepped up and filled in for them. Joakim lost his voice during the show but Chris and Tommy sang the songs instead of him.
