They got your mom locked up in a psych ward, dude... Unless this is a different timeline, in that case, I've said too much. Just keep an eye on your mom.
"You're a professional enemy and everyone you meet is a liar." What an insightful way to put it. I actually studied to become a police officer once, then, when I started to learn about all the tension and stress it entails, I changed my mind.
Yeah,I'm going to take some of their conversation from this interview and use it for dialogue for characters discussing inept corrupt police officers in a comic book I'm going to be doing. It's just such great conversation and good dialogue. Joe doesn't seem mind it when people use things he's said and quote him from the podcast and he even told one animal biologist that he could use something he said on the podcast whenever he talks to people about crocodiles,so I feel like that's different from plagiarism and also for other lines that I'm going to be using from things that people have said in interviews and even posts on RU-vid,I'm getting their permission to use the words and I'll even be citing my sources. I think Joe and Rob Zombie are so right about cops. They have such a difficult job. They're overworked, underpaid and they need better training-in every aspect-I think that every cop should know how to fight, that should be mandatory.I also think that there should be more stringent screening in place,I think that every cop should know and understand the law, they don't need to be a lawyer or a scholar on law but if you're enforcing it,you should understand it. I think cops need more training with their guns, they should also know about things like breath control when it comes to using guns, tactics like cover and move and in addition to that, every cop should know ''Verbal Judo''-they need to know how to communicate well with people from different backgrounds and walks of life and they need to know how to read people and how to deescalate a situation so that it doesn't have to accelerate immediately to them going to their gun-and a lot of cops don't have those skills and training that I was talking about and we see what the end result can usually turn out to be.Physical fitness is something else that should be mandatory for cops,I've seen some overweight cops to the point that it's like you can't even believe what you're seeing. I can't imagine wanting to be a cop.I could never do it and even Special Forces guys like Jocko Willink and Tim Kennedy have said that they could never do the job of a police officer .Obviously, law enforcement has a big problem in America right now.
Do fire instead. It has its moments, but people appreciate your work, you get to actually help people, and you get to work in a team, and you don’t ruin lives throwing guys in jail and stealing peoples’ money and impounding their property and you’re dont tase people and shoot people and search their shit and violate their rights.

I'll never forget 2014 Rob was playing Aftershock in Sacramento and some rent a cop security guard was hassling a guy over smoking a joint. Zombie stopped the show and said he'd pack up if they didn't leave dude alone for smoking. Mad respect for that Rob
Rob's no dope fan. He's had plenty of people ask him if he's into it but he always turns that stuff down. Still, the fact that he was still willing to stick up for a fan is cool of him.
There’s a bunch of stories like that w/ bands and artists stopping shows cuz fans and/ or security guards decide to rough ppl up and muscle them around or...throw things onstage and all kinds of crazy stuff. So I’m glad rob zombie did that. We need to see more of that
That’s crazy, he mentions the lead singer of Reagan Youth Dave Rubenstein. That dude had one dark life. He killed himself in ‘93 after his girlfriend was murdered by a serial killer then his mother died in car accident.
Another thing you got the realize is that Joe says its a small amount but hes missing the point.... The small amount dont get held accountable, the police union defends them always no matter what and they always get off from any trouble Paid leave and then back on the job

The Ted bundy film was shite and could have done with a Zob Zombie touch.
As a retired cop I really enjoyed this discussion. You both are correct in your perspectives. Being a cop can be really satisfying - putting a case together honestly that sends a molester away. However, all the stuff you see and SMELL. Yes PTSD abounds. I now do pre-employment backgrounds. This is a critical area where we need much more training and money do to a better job. I could go on and on, but thank you for your straight forward show. Paul
You should watch the original version of Bad Lieutenant starring Harvey Kietel. Good flick and close to what you may be picturing, minus Rob Zombie of course. Don't watch that shitty remake with Nicholas Cage. *cringe*
@@TheIronWristFighters shit doesn't happen more to black people. It's just reported in the stupid ass regressive media more. All the killing that everyone had their fucking panties in a wad over happened to unarmed white men in the same manner. Do some fucking research.
I was just a correctional officer a few years, and the amount of trust I lost in people after that was huge. It's still amazing how someone can cry and seem so sincere and you know that they need help, right until you find out every word out of their mouth was a lie. On the other hand, some of the people I worked with treated the inmates like shit, and it didn't matter what I said to them or the higher-ups, it was just pushed under the rug. There's horrible folks on both sides and those are the ones that are lifted up as examples of all.
yeah ive experienced bot types of cops..being from a city with over 1 million daily residents, we have great cops because they understand real danger and real thugs..but ive dealt with cops from towns with less than 5000 people in the whole area and some of those cops are the biggest bullies..not a de facto but much more common.
We need to have full castle and stand your ground laws where everyone has firearms. Breed a healthy and safe gun culture. We wouldn't need as many cops.

@@patrickdecambra2219 Nah dawg Toby's right, one- calm down and two- it is definitely not worse now than it was during the 60's. I'd argue the opposite, that cops are literally scared to make arrests or use force when necessary because the .01 percent that are bad and had shot unarmed civilians have made national news and spun the narrative out of control to the point where people hate them with intensity. Don't forget six innocent cops go sniped in Dallas because of one bad apple in their city. There is enough liberal pc shit in place to ensure all cops are not only not using excessive force but in many cases scared to do their very job. And no- you have not seen countless videos of cops hunting down unarmed civilians to shoot them for no reason, the ones that make the news are sensationalistic stories. the detectives are some of the worst. I think your perception is Sherlock Holmes type detectives which is not like the street detectives that roll around harassing everyday people into making a case....few months ago someone I know was driving from work and got stopped only to find out his license needed renewal. they let him go,on the condition that by the end of the night he provided them with information that lead them to a gun arrest. he told them he didn't have information like that. they told him again that he had by a certain time that night or that they would come back and find him and arrest him for driving. worst part of this is that they told him that if needed they would stash a gun somewhere so that he could plant it on someone, like maybe leave it in a car and then notify them. imagine your life being destroyed so that these pos officers could get their numbers. happens everyday. and btw,no,he didn't do any of that or help them, but true story indeed...this shit and worse happen everyday, and that's just my city let alone the rest of the country...

Theres a book in England called HOODS and some of the police mentioned in there were actively working within a gang within the force and working with other gangs in he Nottingham area
Yeah and there are many different police departments that operate differently across the United States, the police isn’t just this one entity some departments are corrupt as fuck and some are top of the line no bullshit and good honest departments
That’s because blacks are so tribal. Anywhere they go they’ll always divide themselves into smaller and smaller groups. The military had gangs too in the early 2000s when they lowered the requirements to join for the Iraq wars. Mexicans and blacks created actual gangs within the military and it got pretty bad. That’s a pretty interesting thing to watch happen. No matter where they go they’ll never work together as one large group, they’ll divide themselves into little tribes. From dividing platoons to entire countries into tribes. The only time I saw white people create any sort of gang in the military was just as a response to blacks and Mexicans and the white gang wasn’t really even a gang it was just a defense.

@Invert Your Cross riiiiight, that's not a easy Job at all. Alot of people can't work in Emergency Services especially a Law Enforcement Officer. I'd like to see who you would hire for that job go 2 Days without without Police/Sheriffs Dept, see what kinda madness would ensue. God forbid a traffic light go down, dumbasses can't figure out a flashing traffic light at a intersection and Police have to direct them. Same people that get their house broke into or themselves or Familly member gets Murdered/Raped they want the Police there NOW!....but fuck the Police right? Doing a job that a overwhelming amount of people can't even do let alone do what they do in the environment that they do it in these days for the pay they make.
They do get paid good salries for only having high school diplomas. They want more money, get educated. Most don’t even knownthey law they’re supposed to be enforcing. Anyone can do that job. I did it for 8 years until I found a better job in a field where I can actually help save lives. In the medical field.
They did strike like 2 years ago in protest and crime actually went down so they hurried up and came back and act like the protest didnt happen look it up
3 types of cops in the world: 1. Former bully who wants to keep being a bully legally. 2. The former bullied who wants to do the bullying. 3. The guy who wants to actually make a difference. The last group is rare and they get beaten down by the 2 previous groups and eventually quit.
There have been 5 people very close to me who have either been abused or murdered by cops. I have never run into a cop who has been nice to me other than my uncle who was shot on the job so dur, of course there are a few good ones, but they are far and inbetween. Just gotta get that quota
One issue A LOT of "normal" people have who rarely have encounters with police, is that almost every interaction with an officer leads to them being told they now owe the city/county/state $ because of some law they likely see people break every day and likely it creates no perceivable victim....Reaction from said normy "so what you're saying is, I paid you to take my money and tell me im bad?......Hey so there is this crack house over on the end of that st".….."ok give the non-emergency a call."
Another thing you got the realize is that Joe says its a small amount but hes missing the point.... The small amount dont get held accountable, the police union defends them always no matter what and they always get off from any trouble Paid leave and then back on the job
@NeanderthalRetardo I'm sorry you had to deal with that. It does reinforce my point though. Essentially people's opinions of police whether positive or negative are drawn from their own experience with them. I am simply saying I think that a large percentage of people have an interaction, or a few, like I mentioned previously. I'm not advocating for or against police. Just giving a hypothesis.
@@995109 I agree. To your point I would say police unions/legislators are not doing the officers any favors by holding that "thin blue line". I realize it is only a small percentage of police that will be in the bad apple group but, it could be an even smaller percentage if departments didn't have to look forward to a possible legal battle any time they decided to get rid of one of those bad apples. One thing that has always really bothered me as well is the way the laws/precedents are in regards to officer involved shootings. Essentially if an officer draws a gun and has to fire it, no matter what the person on the other end did, he/she is in for a legal battle that is likely less bad....if one of the witnesses (the person that the officer shoots) isn't alive to tell their side of the story. Thus, giving the officer a person motive to make sure that person they shot dies...a great example of how this would save lives if changes were made is the "he was going for a gun" (that it later turns out doesn't exist but the officer reacted to the person reaching near wasteband) shooting.
Police hatred is a distinct difference from a humble town that has very little to no crime, but people are getting pulled over for ultra simple driving infractions. And when they are pulled, 4 squads show up..... (seat belt, one day expired tag sticker, exactly 10 over, etc.....) Then there are major city cops dealing with very scary people! This, should change your appreciation for them! They have a very difficult and potentially life altering job. Many cities have very serious crime and killings daily. Having zero respect for those types of police officers that police those areas, is ridiculous. They deal with situations that maybe 70% of the police force in the US will never even face. Hence the shity yearly salary. I wish there was a way to change it by location.
I appreciate the kind words towards Police officers. I graduated from the Police Academy this year, and I love interacting with people, and helping how I can. I volunteer usually a couple times a week, and miss wearing the uniform when I dont have it on. It's an honor and privilege to wear the black and Blue, and we're people first, not just cops. Cheers!
Too Canadian, enjoy your police work, stay safe, uphold the law unilaterally, don’t violate people’s rights, and above all please do not turn a blind eye to any misconduct/illegality you may ever witness a fellow officer do...if you see something, say something!
The black band across the badge actually represents that the officer is mourning a death of another fallen officer within a 30 day time period. It would be unnecessary to cover their badge number because most departments don’t require you to disclose your badge number.
@bryan joiner Yup photos of cops hiding badges hurts your cop blowing feelings. Zombie quoted The Post and they are shit ass right wingers who said same thing. Guess you are dumb.
I've known good cops growing up. If I saw a cop in trouble I know I'd do what I can to help him, but I've had cops try to punk me before & play demeaning games with me. That's a pretty safe place to take those type of shots at me from. I never picked on smaller kids growing up, nobody that didn't have it coming to them. Just want to say I think you're an awesome guy Joe & Rob Zombies music is soo good to me! Seems like a real nice guy. Saw him at the showbox I think, & maybe OzzFeast early 2000so.? Always one heck of a show!
I’ve been stopped about 25 times in my life and I’ve had one experience that the cop lectured me. He wasn’t an ass, he just lectured me for about five minutes and let me go without a ticket.
That's why they mentioned perspective. There's people out there who got stopped 25 times and got harrassed every single time. Depends on the neighborhood you live in, the cops themselves, how you look etc. There are a lot of variables at play.
Who’s in charge of the good cops? They can’t just fire bad cops that’s up to their boss. Funny how people with this mindset only knows this shit from “the media” and nothing else
Native New Yorker here, late 40's lived here all my life.. I was around for this riot. This story needs context. Tompkins Square Park was on Ave A and stretched to Ave B. It was a cesspool of homeless drug addicts, heroin mostly. You could walk past people shooting up or shitting out in the open. There were runaways begging in the street and there was a miasma of dirt, chaos and violence that permeated the whole area. The police were there to remove the homeless encampments from the park. The situation had carried on for years. The punks, addicts, drunks, and homeless fought back against the police. They threw urine on them and bags of shit. Eventually the black "mourning bands" that were higher on the shield slid down and the beatdown began. The park got cleaned out by force and children play there now. I like Rob Zombie but the beatings were deserved..His friends easily could have just left the area. It was a long simmering escalation before it got crazy.
Alot of big cities warrant that attitude from police ,and then theres the arrogant small town fear me im the be all end all authority ,creating situations out of nothing
Ive worked with police in big cities vs small towns and almost all the dicks are in the big city. In small towns news and gossip travels so fast, you know most people and your name is known by people. In the big city you're one of a thousand badge numbers, can get away with being a dick to whoever you want.
The value of a given salary is relative to the area it is being earned or will be spent. Earning $3k/mo in California is under the poverty line and requires a roommate for a 2 bedroom apartment, but take that same income to a place like Iowa and you're renting a 3 bedroom house. Alone.
I live in Silicon Valley. I know how expensive California is, and I'd still take it over just about anywhere else (as long as you can afford it like I can) A cop making 300 or 400 grand a year, which is what they make in Beverly Hills, is not hurting. @Liberty or Death lol yeah right like I would be a mindless jarhead. My brother, grandfather and great grandfather were all Army as well. The black "band" if you will that was across their badge wasn't there to cover the badge number and some departments don't issue "badge numbers" on badges. The black line on their badges wasn't tape either, its a small piece of cloth almost like a hair tie which has a significant meaning. It means an officer of their department or a neighboring department was slain in the line of duty. Its to signify a fallen officer.
@@jdwilliams6526 Or they don't have a badge number.....or watch the video and see its not tape....or they don't need to cover up a badge number......if they were needing to "conceal" their identity why not just take the badge off or wear a Velcro stitched badge....makes no sense. I'd imagine most cops are good people. We just don't see the cops who do a great job day in and day out, most of the time we only see examples of bad cops.
My dad was a cop...... I remember him telling me, some cops get into it for the wrong reasons. They want a badge and a gun, to feel empowered, because they always felt small. Those are the guys to watch out for, the bullies, the guys getting into it to compensate. But the vast majority of cops ARE trying their best, are trying to make their communities better.
"Powerless twats when they were young." Hahahaha! But you're right, Joe, there are always a handful of guys that had their underwear pulled over their head when they were younger. Then they're given a badge and become Billy Badass.
LOL, if you live in a place where a person with multiple stab wounds could be running down the street screaming for their life and no one would try to help, could you really blame the police for being so brutal in that kind of environment? 😂
I have had a vast amount of encounters with cops. For me personally I can only say this just be respectful. If they give you shit always remember they have the badge & more importantly they have the gun. Your rights are important to know but arguing or correcting cops will get you nowhere fast. It's all in how you conduct yourself towards them.
Most Police academy's are 6 to 9 months and then 3 months of field training and a total of up to two years probationary period where they can be fired without the benefit of Union representation . But I guess that's not enough for you huh
@@bobmaluga5958 No. Like I said in my country it's 5 years or so to finish everything to be a police officer. That makes complete sense, 6-12 months does not. If you take some random guy off the streets, he won't be able to handle a shootout after a year of training. That's what police are in your country, mostly random people who are normal. They hide behind a badge is all. And having been to the US for extended periods of time, your police are 1/3rd good, 1/3 trash, and the other third just harrass you. No matter where I went that was the case, when I went back home 99% of them were good at their profession.
@@Eddy-dn1jx No. You couldn't just grab someone off the streets and just put them through the academy. Most of them wouldn't even pass the physical agility test, and the background check, and the written psychological test, and the interview with a psychologist and the lie detector test and the drug test etc etc THAT YOU HAVE TO PASS JUST TO GET ACCEPTED TO THE POLICE ACADEMY! Then, they have to pass every written test, the numerous physical agility tests, the vehicle pursuit course, the firearms course, the active shooter course etc etc and after all that is complete you have to take the State Wide written test to be certified in your State. So random people of the street wouldn't even pass the numerous tests just to GET ACCEPTED. As to your experience with cops in this country I could only say that you have had an unusually high amount of negative experiences with the police and 99.9% of people probably wouldn't have that many in their entire lifetime. Also, people don't talk about or release videos of normal routine experiences that they have of the cops. Only when something goes wrong.
The point is that, out of the one million police officers in the us, some people believe one million turn a blind eye. Like they think a deputy in Michigan that serves a county of 45000 is the exact same as a jaded 20 year nypd vet. Some don't ever have the opportunity to cover for a co-worker because their co-workers didn't do anything illegal. Some fit that narrative some dont. Only a sith deals in absolute.
If you were a surgeon and knew one of your fellow surgeons was drunk during surgery wouldn’t you rat them out to your superiors? Why should it be any different for cops?
Can’t wait to see the new movie! Cops are rad nowadays. Especially when you’re not doing anything illegal. Even a tough cop can be fun if you give them the same respect they give you. Had a bad rep, took on 6 cops angry at the world 8 years ago hating the world. Some of the same cops involved then, Ive seen several times over the years while people are being rowdy and causing trouble and they notice me and tell them that I took on a half dozen of them and won and if they have a problem just talk to me. I’m a good guy, always have been. But when I stand up, I seem to take the power out of everyone with a grudge as I do so with a smile and a handshake. I dig fighting when it’s called for but I’d rather be friends. I’ve ended many bar/street and domestic fights. Perks of being 6’5 270lbs. Respect your local cops. They are people too. Ya, I wrote a novel with an old Nokia with the snake game. Triple tap.
So Philando Castile was looking for trouble when he told the cop he was carrying and that he was reaching into the glovebox to get his license? That was looking for trouble?
Joe makes a good point, in a way policing is like user interface design, it's not really thought about much by the public unless it's an example of them doing it wrong.
Midnight Green have you ever considered that this stuff can happen all the time and you never hear about it because there was no big incident to report about? “Police officer detained for abuse of power” gets a lot less clicks than “cop gets away with abusing minority”. You will never ever be able to completely stomp out people being bad, it can happen anywhere.
