Jay spoke about the 2006 Mr. Olympia years later, during an interview and even on his podcast when Ronnie told him right on stage before they announced the winner that: " You beat me, you won Jay". When Jay was announced the winner the reaction he gave was a mixture or relief but sadness because he took down his idol. His rival. The one man he had chased down for years. Again these are not my words. Jay also knew he took down Ronnie Coleman when Ronnie wasn't at his absolute best conditioning.

Your both delusional, your talking about beating Jay in his prime, was Jay Cutler at his absolute best? No but he was still better and that’s all that matters. Jay just out sized him and his condition was still extremely good. The mandatory poses showed that. And if Victor was such a good bodybuilder why could he never repeat his performance and win???

If you're gonna talk about uncrowned olympia, take a look pregnant Dorian Yates 'beating' Nasser El Sonbaty in 1997.. This is not even close to that. .. Also, where was this guy (before or)after 2007 if you should never give up? Did he just gave up and fck off after that..?

Agreed. I was on the fence before but now that I look back at this perfection I submit: Martinez had it. If only there was one point where he was lacking was his mass, surprisingly, despite both Jay and Victor weighed about the same that show. I’d say this clash was sort of the same as between Flex and Ronnie, where Flex had everything going for him. But Ronnie simply outworked Flex at every part of his massive body. Same here, Jay arguably retained few weak spots and was the slightly bigger dude overall, whilst still having that kind of condition. Flat ? No, Jay was ok and his presentation just barely let him retain the title by tiniest of the margins. The difference between the two competitors, supposedly, had to be ever more noticeable, where judge would have had no other option but to give the crown to Victor. Most importantly, the crowd is behind him and that matters.

He actually snapped his patella tendon and broke his arm not soon after 2007. His sister was also murdered. He was dealt a cruel hand.

When Arnold placed 2nd in his first American competition in the 70s, did he give up? Absolutely not. Yes victor was dealt a cruel hand but don’t say his life spiraled because of this one loss.

I love Jay but yeah, there's no doubt in my mind the judges robbed Victor that night. Edit: Too many controversial decisions in the IFBB, imo all judging should be by a panel of retired IFBB pro's.

Doubt that would solve much, there would definitely be some heavy bias. A lot of pros are friends/ train together or have trained at the same gym etc.

The Olympia has been bias for years. Nasser got robbed, Levrone got robbed, Kia got robbed. This past year Hadi got robbed. Arnold classic is going to eventually out do the Olympia.

I watched this happen live at Mr. O in 2007. The silence in the building was deafening. Martinez was robbed, and everyone knew it, including Cutler. I felt disgusted with the judges.

Mr O turned into a joke by the mid 90s. After Yates won in 96, 97 with obvious issues and unbalanced muscles it was obviously a joke.

He should’ve handed over his medal. I don't know how anyone could accept such a blatant robbery. I'd be too embarrassed to accept the title after that. It would’ve said a lot about Jay's character if he gave it to Victor but he didn't.

It's respectable to have those sentiments of wanting to hand it over, it shows humility and honor, but at the end of the day doing so is more about relieving your own conscience. Just telling the other guy that he should've won and saying it publicly is a better move imo. It's more about being recognized for your hard work and achievements, giving him the medal seems more like a cheap pity trinket.

It was awful what they did because of his immigration issues. Locked him up until the hearing and he lost so much size. Right in his prime as well. They could have helped him but they made an example of him. Was sad I remember it well.

Yeah, many people felt the same when Jay Cutler was robbed in the 2001 Mr Olympia…Arnold winning the 1980 Mr Olympia…Kai vs. Phil. Politics sucks and unfortunately corruption prevails in anything that involves big $. Best to just do it for yourself and don’t care about competing because usually the best never wins…the revenue popular favorite does and those in power will admit it openly nowadays. Sad, but lesson learned?….life is not fair.

Those people that told him that he won weren't the judges. Mike Mentzer use to complain about all the shows he should have won. Rather than come back and show the (judges) there's no way they can overlook you he listened to all the people that were fans of his and not so much fans of Cutler. Bodybuilding is an individual sport if you go on that stage worrying about what people think you have lost right out of the gate. This young man fell into that pat on the back syndrome he also never even came close to 1st place after 10 more tries. He mentilly dug his own grave. Of course all the other guys tht Cutler beat will say that he should have won. Think about it....

Don't care what anyone says, when it comes to a few bodybuilders for the win, it boils down to who is the most suitable ambassador for the sport. i.e who will bring more popularity and money to weider. Just look at all the guys that shud have placed B4 Lunsford. It's politics. Period. If an all American popular inflential figure gets close to the title, especially now, LIGHTS OUT! Just watch this year. Jacked, Samson, even Curry in his prime. If you don't train in US or all American role model, you better be miles ahead of all competitors.

The entire sport of bodybuilding is one big conflict of interest at this point. The “Vice President” of the ifbb/npc,Tyler Manion, is also the head judge for the ifbb. That would be like if Dana White was not only the President of the UFC but he was also the head judge for each and every fight card. Corruption and the ifbb go hand in hand.

It's a Pageant NOT a Sport. The guidelines change from Event to Event. Jay Cutler has the WORST Double Biceps Pose in Bodybuilding History because of his Short Lats. His Thickness overshadows his arms in that pose. It's Very awkward pose for him.

Victor's 1st Mr. O appearance was in 2004 @9th place 2005 @ 5th place 2006 @ 3rd place Cutler's Mr. O prior to him beating Victor is 2000 @ 8th place 2001 @ 2nd place 2003 @ 2nd place 2004 @ 2nd place 2005 @ 2nd place 2006 @ 1st place For Victor to come in at 9th place on his 1st contest and then be in the top 3 at his 3rd year in is great, but Cutler has been better the whole time through.

Competitive bodybuilding is garbage due to this reason, their is no hard scale to judge the winner as it is in power lifting, lift more weight with win the show no matter what the judges say about you.. But no matter what anyone says Victor is the real winner of 2007 Mr. Olympia for me and many others....

Not sure I agree with this. Martinez was fuller and had slightly better conditioning, but was way smaller, with a mid-section worse than the bigger guy. Besides, Jay was the current Mr. Olympia, it's hard to dethrone a current Mr. Olympia without totally owning him in most of the categories.

The judges didn’t even look at me… cutler just drew eyeballs. That’s the whole point. I don’t think Martinez had the best conditioning either cutler wasn’t at his peak but he still won. I think Kai beat Heath in 14,15 but the judges just prefer heats shape. Kai was like 30lbs heavier. His back was better, legs were better. And he had insane conditioning but the judges love Phil. I don’t think Dorian won every year he was Mr O either! There were many guys on that stage who would win today. Unfortunately your name does get you more attention

It's obvious that Victor Martinez won to .1% of the population. To the other 99.9% who are 'normies' it's not obvious at all. As a person who is not a bodybuilder and has watched many video's on this out of curiosity as to how it's judged... the one overriding factor is who is the biggest, even if it hasn't always been that way and not the only factor. Jay looks bigger. I watched a video with Dorian Yates stating that size is always the biggest factor.

Yeh! Judges from all olympias are bent. Their is a bigger force controlling the outcome. Paul Dillet should haver won it at lease once if not more. He makes Cutler look terrible. I still don't get why Cutler ever won even once . Defo fixed every year.

Kevin Levrone said it in an interview in regards to who wins. Weider maked more $$$ continuing to let Dorian win the Olympia in the early 90s. (paraphrasing). This is all a buisness plain and simple.
