SGU was a great show is a great show and will always be a great show from within our deepest emotions we know this was a great show Some day young kids will wake up one day Bored of their reality tv shows and will revert to science fiction They will see Stargate Universe and play the first episode 42 minutes of pride and joy is crushed as they find out only 2 seasons were made they will utter slowly in shame "What have we done?" But for now do not retreat to despair for there is still hope SGU
What a great actor, loved him in 28 weeks later, I was surprised to see him in SGU cast, but after 4 episodes I'm already addicted and I think his character is the most promising of the show, this is clever to not making him play the average good guy.
he's my favourite on Once. sgu is great. just saw season 1, now am gonna see season 2. love him as an actor (and as a person from all i've seen of him), and wish him a wonderfully happy and blessed birthday this sunday. Hope he gets to spend it with his family.
He says "the most important thing is to have a really secure family unit in his opinion and hes blessed like that with his wife and children back home, and their really understanding about what he does and what he has to do and what he has to do,he does for the family" and it all works for him,...they then go on to talk about moving to vancouver and how it is very child friendly.
His wife is so prettyyyy (and she looks like she's a nice person too!). Lucky guy, I'm happy he has such a stable family he deserves that :) I've only seen him in Once Upon a Time and The Fully Monty, planning to watch some of his other movies. Probably should add Stargate to the list, it looks really fun
what's funny about the original show... is... it's this really family friendly show but the first episode they have this random full frontal nudity scene I watched the last half of the show first and then something like seasons 2 through 4 and then finally got around to watching 1 and it was just so weird that they started like that
What's great is that they took in massive amounts of lore and detail from the show's past to construct the scenes here. If you enjoyed the world building in SGU, you may like the previous series as well, as you'll be able to point to certain events in Universe and realize the causes of them :)
@starcraftification SGU is a good show, besides SGA was scheduled to have 5 seasons. It wasn't cancelled because of SGU. SG-1 and SGA existed together for some time. SG-1's last good season was season8
i dae ken lyk, obviously wen a see robert carlyle a see begbie, fukin crazy bastard, probably ma favorite character fae a film, but a canny see him in sci fi, fukin legend tho, utmost respect fer this guy
@Zeemis ...don't make me choose D: For me it's a tie between Rush and Carter. Also Amanda is the actresses' name Samantha is the character's name. But don't worry about that I've gotten actor's names mixed up with the characters they play XD
@tonboyy Ey, dont say SGU sucks, the same director directed SG-1 and SGA (I think) and im sure they will be making more sci-fi in season 2, discovering aliens, advanced technology and so on
@starcraftification stargate universe has alot more appeal to the general public that has not seen all of the sg1 and atlantis episodes like some have (including me). but it also has a more tied together story line from episode to episode. not like all the stand alone stuff on sg1 and atlantis
Im a fan of robert carlyle and feel hes been let down by this cancelation, rush was a great charecter, universe was becomeing the best s.g yet.I think everyone that has really enjoyed this franchice to do what the fans of family guy did(which i was one of) and that is petition to get the show back on, the same way the fans got carson beckett back on atlantis.
Really? I thought he played a scientist with a very machiavellianistic personality rather well. I dont think I could have chosen a better actor to portray him
Female presenter reads SGU description: "'Stargate is a military science fiction franchise based on the idea that star gates, ring-shaped alien devices, create a wormhole, enabling teleportation and time travel to similar devices located cosmic distances away'. Explain please" The woman reads it like a semi literate 10 year old, just so the majority of stupid viewers aren't threatened or offended.
I've always assumed that space gates, since only accessible with a ship with a DHD of some sort, dirive their power from the ship itself. The fact that I have even thought about this tells me that I need a life. x
I would love to see the 1993 film called 'safe' where robert carlyle plays noshty the homless idiot, he played that part so well, it isnt on youtube!!!??? can anyone help me out here?????? where can i watch that fillm again?? it was brilliant!!!!
As bad as Stargate Universe was, Dr Rush was an outstanding character played by an outstanding actor. He would have made a fine addition to the cast of SG-1 which is the highest praise I can think of.
I can’t with SGU. I love Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica so it’s not a genre problem. I find it IMMENSELY boring when RC is not on screen. And that Eli character is such an obvious surrogate for nerdy sci-fi writers/fans he makes me cringe so hard I pulled a muscle. I’m trying really hard because I straight up LOVE Bobby. But it’s really not good.
@Zeemis You know I made the exact same mistake you made only with Daniel...I replaced the character's first name with the actors first name and so...I ended up calling Daniel, Micheal Jackson XD
@aeonic: a good handful of characters DID actually have their reprised in an episode of SGU, and several members of the cast and recurring characters had previously appeared in the franchise.
Stargate(to me is the most influentual franchises ever...period......Bring it back, we get stuck with doctor who, 24 american idol and all sorts of other mainstream shit while PROPER entertainment, REAL viewing and brain food is being binned for that shit. So vexed this franchise has gone.
Carlisle's face when no one knows what Stargate is and have to do their research right there for themselves and the not target audience is priceless "I oughta go all Begbie on these f@#$'n c&*%s"
Re: @8:30 … Yes! They definitely got the "right guy"! Robert's performances on SGU were absolutely stellar. I doubt that anybody else could've brought that character to life in such a realistic way that made you love & hate him, and everything else all at once! It's really an embarrassment that so many "fans" of the franchise we so "vocal" about not supporting the series, especially taking their criticisms to such a personal level, attacking the quality of production, acting, etc.-which is complete rubbish! Not everyone is going to like everything… But to claim that SGU was poorly made and had a piss-poor cast was hogwash, and completely unnecessary! And although in the end they weren't actually responsible for the demise of the series-which seems to have basically been the end of the franchise (except for an unsuccessful revival attempt in the form of a 'made for web release' prequel, which truly was not on par with the rest of the franchise, sadly!), nor were those behind the 'hateful voices' ever even close to being a majority in numbers. But they did manage to create a "tainted" situation that has made it much more complicated & risky for anyone who might consider resurrecting this brilliant franchise.
LOL i don't know how you behave if you'r stoned? But i am able to do all those things when i'm stoned. It'slegal in Holland to smoke weed... And none of my buds are loosing their capability's to write when their stoned. And we smoke a lot for American standards. You probably smoked once felt all messed up and now you think everybody behaves like that when their stoned... LOL I'm stoned everyday.. even on my work... And i have a pretty good job..
Yea, very true. I always thought of them as devices to keep the Stagate in the right orbit, but suppose they could serve that purpose. Saying that, they would eventually deplete. And since it was thousands of years since the Ancients ascended, you have to assume that there will be some other way of powering them once that power runs out. Christ. I can't believe I'm putting this much thought in to this. The writers didn't so why are we? ha x
@Brunkie: I don't think there's any evidence that the Ancients originally put any gates in space. It seems clear to me that it was the wraith that moved them and maintain them. And from what we've seen, it really doesn't actually seem to require all that much power to dial a stargate, and once the connection is made power can be drawn from the destination gate. And someone with the right knowledge could even design a system for recharging the power source of a space gate each time a connection is made, and I'm sure their energy storage technology is virtually wasteless & lossless...
No person in the ENTIRE world would go onto their computer, go to youtube, and then comment on how good a person looks for 50 when they are stoned. I highly doubt you were high or even came in contact with any form of narcotics. Well unless of course you didnt inhale. hah
