RoboCop: Rogue City - A Brutal Head-Popping Narrative-Driven Open World RoboCop FPS! 

RoboCop's one of my all-time favorite moves so I had to cover this and was pretty impressed with it. It really nails the RoboCop vibe (it's even voiced by Peter Weller) and although some of the early storytelling is a little heavy handed (and the OCP guy especially annoying), it really improves later on when you go downtown and start doing some open world police work (Pickles is a particular standout). Plus the shoot outs are gloriously violent! One thing that I'd warn about though if you plan on playing the current build is that it's a massive 44GB download and it suffers from Shader precompile issues, so stutters each time you explore a new scene (for the video I fixed this by playing through each part twice and recording the second playthrough).

An FPS where you walk very slowly and get hit by every bullet. Truly makes you feel like Robocop.

Honestly feels just right. I have no idea why there are people out there expecting a complex movement shooter. This is based on the classic Robocop film. Not the new one or any other version. It's also a breath of fresh air being able to play as something more akin to an unstoppable force rather than a glass cannon. Of course, they will have to keep things interesting gameplay-wise with how enemies react and what other types of threats will be in your way the further you progress. As for early gameplay, it makes perfect sense for Robocop to be breezing right through human criminals. If this turns out as good as it's looking, I hope this team can make a Dredd video game with Karl Urban.

Deliberately slow movement, a bit of the original movie's music, a clear 80's style dystopian city. A work of love to the source material without a doubt. In a way this is an anti-cover shooter since this game expects you to soak damage like a sponge as you confidently walk towards the dirtbags in your way as you shoot them.

I think that having the game to be this slow paced and expecting you to absorb every bullet is a really brave approach, given the recent boomer shooter trend of having you jumping platforms at 300mph. It reminds me of Space Hulk-Deathwing to an extent. Controlling a tank with arms and legs. It's difficult to make it work, but it SEEMS that they're nailing it on this one.

One minor complaint I have is that Robocop shouldn’t need to aim down sights for the assault rifle. It would make more sense to use the SMG’s zoom for it instead.

They nailed the likeness of officer Lewis and the desk sergeant. I felt the devs actually capture the 80s dystopian detroit landscape. I'm glad they put so much accuracy from the first movie like they did with Terminator

The only thing that is unfortunate is that the enemies don't have Soldier of Fortune levels of dismemberment. That would fit so well with this franchise. I've been keeping my eye on it but have been a little arms length since the trend of games based on movies can be...disappointing to say the least. And as @PsychoRavager said below, if this is a success, a Karl Urban Judge Dredd game would be bomb.

Robocop theme still hits like a shotgunblast to the limbs, now to wait who is the first one to speedrun this with eliminating every enemy with a shot to the groin.

It looks like the dream game you always wanted as a kid watching robocop. As soon as the main theme started I got chills.

These devs are really great at making faithful source material. I hope they make more licensed games in the future since they seem to know what to do with IPs.

I wish more developers would have this much fun with the blood and gore and visceral impact of each bullet. Games like the Far Cry ones would definitely benefit from this kind of combat feedback since they're already pretty much M rated.

Its developers are Teyon same people who did Rambo the game and Terminator Resistance(which was pretty good). I see a theme here. Hope it's as big a leap in quality as Resistance was from that Rambo game.

This is a love letter to fans of the robocop franchise. Same with terminator resistance, this is for the fans. It may not change the gaming landscape, but it doesn't have to be. Sometimes, just being a good game that happens to be your favorite movie franchise is enough. Though i know it won't be for everyone.

Hearing Murphy say "Sleep tight." to that drunk guy made me chuckle and go "aww". That drunk is probably the only criminal Robo will ever be gentle with.

It’s nice to see how much Teyon have improved since Terminator Resistance just the atmosphere and details are pretty spot on even down to that little cat going underneath the car was kind of cool.

Shooter games kinda come in mostly two flavors it seems. The faster paced "action hero" types (10x on boomer shooters) where you can fight through hordes, get hit a lot and can get back up a bit more easily, or the slow, more methodical tactical types where your mortality is very apparent But this... this is like slower tactical but you also a beefy action hero that tanks bullets. It really fits the OG Robocop and I love it so much. //now I need an OG Terminator type game that does the same philosophy and my life is complete

Just remember the scene in the original film (and even RC 2) where Murphy walks into a big warehouse and just slowly dismantles the entire place. If they can replicate that, this game will be spot-on.

honestly love how the game makes you FEEL like robocop, tanking bullets like its a minor obstacle and his gun basically blasting peoples faces off

yknow for Robocop tanking damage not only makes sense but can be a fun mechanic where you have to balance the damage taken with how quickly you can aim and dispatch enemies just like how the REAL Robocop would, maybe adding a meter for how much damage tanked and be used on an auto aim attack where the gun will track and aim itself at enemies. I'd also love to see instead of storing secondary weapons, Robocop holds secondary weapons as disposable while in his left hand and uses them as suppression tools to keep enemies in cover while you'd be advancing on them, and when out of ammo for the gun he toss them aside.

I've dreamed of a game like this since I watched robocop as a kid... I sure hope this game is as good as it looks.

i like it, robocop isn't a super fast hyper lethal vector, hes a menacing force of nature that can't be stopped by conventional means. he doesn't need to chase down a target whos cornered

Robocop is my fave movie of all time. This looks faithful to the source material. Beyond pleased with this.

Man I have waited 30 years for a good Robocop game. Played the demo and man nostagia and fan service is oozing in this game. Only gripe I have is that the sound of Robocop's gun is not the original 3 burst like in the movies. But man Peter Weller is back! Preordered the game and I fully support this studio. Someone already mentioned it somewhere but I hope this studio goes on to make a Dredd game.

This just feels like a Robocop movie that you get to actually star in. It looks perfect.

the game prompting you "throw object" when you grab an enemy just feels very robocop

This is like a childhood dream come true for me. The slow deliberate movement and the sound of Robocop's footsteps make it all the better, as well as Peter Weller coming onboard to play Robocop again, of course. This is as close as it gets to a true Robocop 3, I guess.

This feels like a passion project and not just a cash grab. That's great news for Robocop fans. The NPCs look a little low-budget but otherwise it looks great. The destructible environments are impressive.

I am stunned, this is amazing, the lighthing, the vibes, the asthetic that this game gives, this is what graphics were made for, the enviromental desturction, the explosion effects, painting the walls like that so much more than any AAA game i've seen in a while.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

I absolutely adore the voice acting performances in this game. I have never seen any of the films so I don't know how on-point it is, but even from someone with no prior experience on that front this looks incredibly fun and engaging to play.

As someone that saw the movie as a 10 year old in 1987 this game captures that movie. The glorious ultra-violence, society in decay, corporate greed, and the few good people trying to survive it. Peter Vierhoven's universe brought to life as a game. Definitely getting this one.

They really nailed it with this. Has some really nice attention to detail, and really captures the right feeling and atmosphere. I'm really impressed. There are a few things that need some work, but overall this is really awesome.

Awesome they paid to get the actual Robocop theme too. A nostalgia piece like this would really need it.

Seriously though, this looks to nail the feel of being Robocop: just slowly walk in, take loads of punishment without flinching, and cap everyone with maximum prejudice. And picking fools up by the throat just to hurl them thirty feet across the room into their buddies is just hilarious. P.S. Also hilarious that Murphy is taking the time to stop off into side rooms to retrieve stolen wallets and handbags in between reducing gangbangers to red mist.

Peter Weller the actor who portrayed Robocop in the film has a PhD in Italian Renaissance Art from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). For that knowledge I'll buy that for a dollar.

This looks and sounds so good. Seeing the first shoot out with the RoboCop theme blasting gave me shivers. Sooo goooood.

People seem to forget how good the actual story of RC1 was, but after 30 minutes of this, I’m pleasantly surprised that it seems the developers haven’t. I’m actually interested to see how the story plays out, go figure

Every time I see her walking in front of Murphy during a firefight, my blood boils. They need to fix that AI! But, in general, looks quite solid. Another thing, I don't remember seeing Robocop reloading his pistol manually, and, I don't think it needed to be infinite, even his armor isn't.

Great game but needs more blood squibs… I like my dead goon looking like a company exec after pointing a gun at ED-209

Man the team who made this very obviously loved the original 1980s-era Robocop. Every little detail has so much polish, even his HUD and the sound of his burst-fire pistol. He doesn't run or parkour, he just walks towards the enemy. Feels really tanky and the health recovery is a good touch on top of that. Might have to get this one. One of my favorite movies handled with such obvious passion.

Wow, this is awesome! The atmosphere in the city is phenomenal. Seems they completely nailed the whole essence and feel of the movies. Glad they based it on the good old original movies too, rather than the crappy show-off reboot (to put it politely). Some walking animations could be a little better. You can tell Robo lacks weight, sometimes. Could do with a little view bobbing too. Other than that, even the voice acting is great. Whoever did the robo voice, does it pretty damn well. :) (EDIT: lol, I just learned it's Peter Weller himself!)

It's great that they brought back Peter Weller as Robocop, but it also sounds like they brought Nancy Allen back as well. I'm really glad they brought them both back to reprise their roles. It feels a lot more like a Robocop game with them in it.

Huge shout out to the developers for making this so authentic to the original movie including NPC faces and scenes in the movie. You put a ton of work into this and it shows. People criticize this in some small ways, the engine is dated, not much dialog with NPC's, but it's fine I'm going to watch more.

One thing I do note is that a lot of the extra guns you can pick up seem kinda superfluous considering the default gun is already accurate, powerful and has unlimited ammo. Also, I'm guessing it can be upgraded as the game progresses. I'm guessing later on you'll get more hard-hitting weapons like the rifle used to blow up the walker for big tanky enemies. I do think it's cool that a good amount of the game includes stuff other than simply shooting goons, particularly investigative work and community outreach.

I had a feeling about this game, something familiar about it, so i checked and it is from Teyon, the same company that made Terminator: Resistance. Definitly going to my wish list

This is better than what I thought it would be, as I was expecting the worst. They did a great job though, because due to RoboCops slow movement, what they did was essentially make an "advanced" rail shooter. While adding the cop in a dystopian city aspect. Open world, different dialogue options, and investigating scenes is a cherry on top.

This game is amazing. It not only feels good as a RoboCop game, with all of the member-berries, it actually looks pretty good as a game. I'd have to see more to see how the high level abilities work out, but what I've seen so far is really cool.

Never has bullets flying through glass shattering looked so satisfying. This game has GREAT destructible environments.

This is fkg phenomenal. You can tell the devs are pure Robocop hardcore fans. What a hommage! Everything feels like the movie since the first minute. Even Louise is as lovable, loyal, and badass as in the movie So much love put into this game.

Man this is dope. Really cool looking game! The Robocop, Luise, other police members. Even side quests look quite detailed! Well, not like detailed on graphics or something, it just feels good to investigate! Developers did really a good project. Gore effects are also impressive, some criminals even react on their shot body parts, that's quite the details. And I agree that AK ads is kinda uncomfortable, but it's a little and a minor issue. Other than that - game looks great!

This looks fantastic, man. Nothing crazy or over the top, but like the terminator game recently- faithful, and *right*. Also lol poor Robocop, man tanks a platoon’s worth of bullets and gets blown up, only to get no thanks from the saved. Well, they probably didn’t know he did that.

Open small areas with main missions and side activities, blood splatters, lots of action, plus we get to grab the scumbags by the throat :D. I love this!

The HUD in this game is fantastic. In other games it often comes as some kind of game convention, as a mean to present you with some info, but in this game it is a big part of the lore. Love how clean and unobtrusive it is.

oh he moves like in the movies?? I wasn't honestly expecting that. that's a veryyy risky move, and that also makes me sorta interested to see how it plays. EDIT: after watching some of the footage, I think it's pretty interesting, but it also makes me wish there were other ways to diffuse the situation like in the movies. Murphy sometimes uses hostage negotiation tactics and there's a lot of stand offs in the movies, which makes me wish there was a mechanic like that in this game - you point a gun at a criminal and the guy freezes and has to consider to shoot a giant robot or run away.

I really love the realistic graphics, especially the details of the real former actors.

You know what I'd love? A Style System in which you charge up a meter by shooting the bad guys, then after it's full you execute a trick shot showing Robo killing someone in TPP while striking a pose.

this......this is the robocob I have wanted since I first saw the movies in the 90's as a kid holy shit! And they nailed the spank tank model of robo, he's not fast but I'll be fucked if he ain't flashy.

It's not a triple A game and you can tell but this is made by the same team that did the terminator game a few years ago and that ended up being a competently made, hidden gem. You can tell this game is a true labor of love, hand crafted by a team of huge fans of the original robocop movie. It just oozes with the same passion and attention to detail as their terminator game.

HELL YES!!! These guys did so much with so little with Terminator Resistance. They gave the true fans of 80s action sci-fi what they actually wanted for once and this looks like they took it to the next level. Not going to be GOTY or anything but still going to be a fun ride.

Looks so faithful! Amazing. Would love to have just a third person option to see all the style and animation based on Peter Weller's amazing interpretation. Well, that a replay mode where I could just sit, relax and watch my own gameplay after going through a level, in movie style with the awesome soundtrack playing.

Seems a little janky, but leagues better than any previous RoboCop game. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the preview!
