Rock Lee is often referred to as one of the hardest workers in the Naruto series, yet his existence has continued to be questioned by many in the community. The original motive of his character has almost been completely lost/twisted due to the number of misconceptions that have only spread and grew throughout the years, and so through this video, I hope to share with you all the true purpose of the boy who was called a genius of hard work, Rock Lee.

For me, Lee losing against garaa, then almost losing all hope to be a ninja again, then bouncing back and have the surgery be successful is one of the most realistic and well written themes ever His ability to stand up and fight against garaa, while also gaining the respect from everyone and proving he is a splended ninja is unbelievably awesome and motivational, full of drama and just phenomenal Great video

So lovely to see someone who properly analyses the series without bias. It amazes me how shallow so many people's understanding of Naruto is, and to see someone really have a grip on things is really great! More people should watch your videos! Great work!!

yea I feel like the main problem in the fanbase is that he didn't get screen time post ts. a lot of fans found him the most relatable character in the show so it gave them a big sense of disappointment even if you can argue that he already finished his character arc in og.

Another great video. I always felt Lee was pretty underrated myself. Yeah, his character was meant for comedy at times, but his characters also represents those who are different in life like myself and so having that kinda character, especially in one of my favourite anime and mangas ever, just makes it even better. Not to mention the fact that you can completely sympathise with him with Kishimoto once again doing an amazing job with a flashback and making us understand his character more. And his fight against Gaara has always been one of the most impressive to read and watch and I adore his role in the Sasuke Retrieval Mission Arc where he saves Naruto and teams up and makes amends with Gaara. I guess it’s a shame we didn’t get much of him after that, but that part there was the peak of his arc for me and I still enjoy what he did later on and now what he’s doing in Boruto.

Happy you enjoyed the video man, and I'm glad you were able to find something that you yourself could relate to within his character. That sense of understanding definitely helps us want to root for his character even more and take inspiration from his actions 😊

Lee is my favourite character of the series. I truly found a reflection of myself in him. I've never been good at sports or anything and I always worked my ass off to achieve the things I wanted. For example: as I said never had any proficiency in any sports, always been very weak but I managed to become a personal trainer. I learnt how to perform a proper freestanding straight handstand, without moving. It took me 1.5 year to achieve it but I never gave up. I was really bad at martial arts, now I'm very skilled, was not able to do even a chin-up, now I perform pull-ups with 55kg as added weight. Hard work is hard, but as long as you keep going, you are succeeding. Failing is part of the learning process. Believe in yourself!

I too felt weak at one point, but surprisingly it was recently not in my childhood and that was because I gained weight during my university Studying medicine is hard and alhamduliallah I didn't do anything that would harm me but I unfortunately ended up eating a lot, which also lead to feeling tired and having less motivation I was truly happy to read the manga in my spare time, I have been a fan since childhood but themes in the manga resonated with me even more, Lee being one of them, I lost 22 kg and now at my last year (technically graduated but still one physical work year remaining) in medicine Naruto is a work of art and you are an amazing youtuber, really happy you are back

The video is phenomenal and I love your videos Rock Lee is a well written awesome character, I think the problem that made people think wrong about some characters (including Lee) is that they felt the characters didn't get enough screen time which is not true in most of characters cases but the longevity and length of the manga while also giving huge impact and focus on naruto and sasuke made people think like as if anyone else was forgotten which is not the case, they were woven into the story as naturally as possible or it would have been forced Again thank you so much for your videos, so happy people finally started respecting the masterpiece that is naruto

Lee had some heavy ironies. He fought against world's odds to receive outside recognition (which even motivated him at the moment of opening 3rd Gate as he thought of Sasuke Naruto and Neji, which proved self-destructive. Then after 5 Gates combo, he was clearly recognized by likes of Neji, Guy and Kakashi, he cured himself from this obsession of being outwardly recognized as a splendid ninja but at a worst possible time - the only moment when it would prove even more self-destructive (his attempt to continue the fight). Had he come to terms with it at any earlier point in his life, it would've done wonders for him. Less relevant point but it's also parallel to Naruto's way of dreaming. He was dedicated to obtaining the title of hokage only to be recognized but along the way that dream matured, as it stopped being fueled just by his terrible childhood experiences. He kicks a rookie's ass and tries to cripple him (Sasuke) with a forbidden technique, just to prove a point that everyone gets what they deserve. He trains more so he wins and the other one can go on a wheelchair. In other words, he believes in some twisted, obviously self-serving form of karma. Yet later he's crippled himself and felt unrewarded, as though he didn't gain what he himself deserved. Might seem cruel to say for some (not me though) but the reality is that Gaara's and Lee's motivations were nearly the same - "I wanna near death this kid because it'll feel good". Then when facing the dilemma of Tsunade's surgery he goes through an internal struggle of will to live and will to dream. As he began to cry about it while talking to Guy (ch 180), he said that this time there's nothing his hard work and believing in himself can do. But this is reflective of his flaws in everything else. He's been so deadset on proving the entire world wrong, that he thought it will always be sufficient if he just has enough of both those things, which it's not. Gaara proved that point more than clearly. He identified his vision of "splendid ninja" with "unstoppable" or #1 and that causes him to suffer. There's always a risk of loosing ANY fight and his toxic belief in always rewarding in the end world won't change it. The operation isn't very different from them. He certainly would've benefitted from reading Vagabond. And unfortunately a lot of his fanboys fall into similar trap. They mistake freedom with omnipotence, causing them to hold the terrible take of Naruto's story propagating fatalism/determinism.

Amazing video, my dude. Sorry i'm late, but WOW, you rocked amazinglee(i am not sorry). To me, Rock Lee is the embodiement of integrity and how important it is to stick true to ourselfves, since, at the end of the day, who we are is everything we truly have. I don't think i've got anything else to add to it, your video summed it up perfectlee, but i will say that, although seeing Lee doing 1000+ push-ups as a penalty for not being able to fight Neji without his hands or blindfolded or whatever, was really endearing and inspiring, it'd probablee lose it's novelty fast throughout Shippuden. I'd love to see Lee getting his world's point of view shaked after witnessing Nagato's hate cycle and Madara's pain speech; only to, once again, rise again as a symbol of integrity and sticking true to his belifes and Might Guy's teaching. Once again, great video brother, keep rocking hopefullee

To those who want more of rock lee I recommend reading Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth despite its art style it has some emotional moments in it
@delix787
@delix787 Год назад
The thing I always ask people. Do you just want Rock Lee to have fights in shippuden?? Or do you generally want another good journey for his character? I don’t think Rock Lee’s motivation about hard work versus natural born talent would work going against the Akatsuki! They don’t care about things like that and they won’t even acknowledge it. Lee’s arc worked because he was around young kids who didn’t understand the ninja world correctly yet. I feel like redoing the same formula in shippuden just wouldn’t cut it. Lee would have to have a new goal or a new journey to keep his character going but sometimes it’s just complicated. I feel like Lee vs Sasuke at the five kage arc would be great storytelling for him because he looked up to Sasuke when he was able to master his Taijutsu in just a month while it took him years to perfect….. Lee was both frustrated but happy at the same time for Sasuke. Now imagine to see him go rogue and Lee is going up against him with huge disappointment that he has to take down someone who he looked up to once. I feel like that would’ve been good for him.
@Viroh

I just wish Naruto's "natural gifts" were toned down so he could carry Lee's message with him. Did he REALLY have to have the strongest tailed beast to give him a "Small Loan of a Million Chakra" any time he starts getting his asswhooped? Why not have Kurama be the _weakest_ tailed beast, but slowly grow stronger along side naruto learning his potential is not set in stone by his tails alone We've seen tailed beasts like Shukaku pride themselves on their power after all. Did he HAVE to come from two legendary bloodlines with powers feared by every surrounding nation ALSO blessed with massive chakra pools? Did he _REALLY_ need to be a reincarnated demigod to send the story's message home? I don't know, I feel like you could write the same general story with the same core message without making Naruto _feel_ so priviledged in his strength.
@D_Owo
@D_Owo Год назад
@@sasaki999pro the only thing that actually benefited him was being kushina’s son due to the large chakra pool, being minato’s son meant literally nothing other than a confidence booster throughout the series,?being a reincarnation of a god also didn’t help naruto at all until late in the war arc and even then he was still destined to fight with sasuke which he then broke that cycle
@sasaki999pro
@sasaki999pro Год назад
@@D_Owo Minato ALSO had a large chakra pool, he can frequently abuse flying raijin and the rasengan, two extremely chakra intensive jutsu And when he was FATIGUED he was able to match HALF the nine tails chakra with the Reaper Death Seal. Any one ninja being HALF a bijuu is absurd let alone with depleted stamina, _LET ALONE_ the nine tails which is the strongest of all its kin. So Naruto had TWO massive chakra bearing bloodlines, half of the most powerful tailed beast that was STILL stronger than any of its brethren. And when ALL that failed, he had the sage of six paths as a safety net.
@D_Owo
@D_Owo Год назад
@@sasaki999pro it was stated that naruto's large chakra pool was mainly inherited from kushina so that doesnt rlly apply anyway. also ur acting like naruto could use the nine tails whenever he wanted, he had to learn to control it and even then he would be at risk of being overtaken by it and so he had to work very hard to control it, same with the chakra, he had to work very hard to learn chakra control and even then he couldnt use chakra efficiently and like i said b4 so6 paths had more drawbacks than benefits
