cherrybomb is a great album with insane features and (in my opinion) one of the best songs of the 2010s SMUCKERS, i really recommend listening to the album

tyler's interviews from around the time of his earlier album releases have some fun moments of people trying to see why his music is so inflammatory (like using homophobic language for example) or trying to get him to open up and he deflects a lot of it behind humor or this persona of not giving a fuck which you mentioned & later on he opens up about being bisexual so now all of it seems more tongue in cheek than him being ignorant or trying to hurt anyone. To me it seems that during this time he didn't care to clear up anyone's preconceived notions about him based on his music and it only added to the fuel that caused him to have this cult following. Its crazy to look back on it now cause I was a freshman in high school when I found Tyler's music and I didn't fully understand why it resonated with me, but it's been great to watch his growth as a person and as an artist and I'm glad I get to see other people go on that journey as well. I love your videos and your perspective as someone who didn't grow up with this music. For me this was my rebellious phase and his music totally captured the wild energy that I think a lot of kids have around that time. For some people its rap & for others its rock but I love seeing good music bring people together.

This is the kind of stuff I love right here. And it's true-good music brings people together, people of all kinds. I sometimes wonder if Tyler did a little of what Lady Gaga did when she got slammed with fame at such a young age: made a persona to exist behind. Not trying to compare the two as artists, but I cannot fucking fathom having that much money/fame at a young age, let alone having the coping skills to deal with it. I would not be surprised if Tyler had an inflammatory facade as a way of pushing back against such an influx of attention. Even in Yonkers he's talking about how he isn't even dead but already wants his life back. To me, that's a direct reference to losing privacy and normalcy once becoming a star. Thanks for the great comment, and thanks for following me along on this journey. I have to say, so far, it's been a real treat. The Tyler fans I've interacted with have been fan-tastic (cheesy pun, I know)

I think you should listen to Bastard, a mixtape but what Tyler considers his first album, a personal favorite off there is Odd Toddlers.

I think you should listen to cherry bomb along the journey it’s abrasive and experimental and is different from all his other albums but critics hated it, I did not enjoy the album that much when I first listened to it but after giving it more listens if grew on me and I love this album

He was not considered very black and was called school shooter music for awhile because he had angrier songs. He had made songs from the pov of various serial killers which turned off the traditional rap crowd but since he wasn't radio friendly mainstream rap wasn't big on him either. Also I heard your last two planned reactions and would suggest pigs. Its One of his darkest songs and may be demonitized but it's from the pov of a school shooter and ties in with the over arching story of the first 3 albums

If you dug deeper, you’d see, TC is Tron cat (Tron cat is the person rapping all the violent songs Ex: Sarah) Ace is from the B*stard era, also the birth of Tron cat, but then in the wolf trilogy (B*stard, Wolf, Then Goblin) It’s a whole story, connected to one another, Goblin shows that all the alter egos and characters are Tyler, which is when he figured out he could do whatever he wanted, if you listen to the intro track on b*stard, he said there would be sessions “Today, Tomorrow, and the next day” But there wasn’t ever a next day, showing the growth into cherry bomb, he figured out he could do what he wanted, which added to his rap character, all the 3 albums were about was growth and moving on from an aggression filled past, I don’t expect you to listen to it in that order in one sitting (I haven’t either) But it was good watching TennisThoms explanation of them.

Golf Wang is Wolf Gang swapping the first letters. He did it with Goblin too at times. Was it a music video where you see the street is called Nilbog. But yeah Golf became his brand for many things. Wolf Gang was the group as a whole, OF aka Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All 😂

Just subbed, keep it up! 👍Great reactions man. Glad you’re going on this Tyler journey, I recommend you check out the music videos on your own time to these songs too, the video for this one is dope. If your doing Wolf I recommend “Rusty” of there. One of the hardest Tyler songs where he’s talking about real shit in his life around that time and has features from Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis some of the best members from his group Odd Future. This album has a story too btw.

not sure if you were aware of this but Tyler does everything himself, from the music videos, lyrics, production, clothing, THE LOT. I would recommend you do a few songs off Cherry Bomb, not his best album but necessary in the progression from WOLF to Flower Boy. The tracks I recommend are Buffalo, 2 Seater, Okaga CA and Smuckers, the whole album is pretty great besides a couple duds which are just a bit over bearing.

I do have to say that I'm very intrigued... but I'd almost rather go through his discography first. Unless there is an overwhelming demand for me to listen to the new album first? Maybe I could make a whole video of it? I don't know. I wish I could stream the damn thing, but RU-vid would shut that down. Anyway... thumbs up for me listening to the new album? Or should I work through Tyler's musical history first?

If you watch the video for Yonkers he eats a roach and that’s what people went to that video to see there’s 2 version to the video. Because the 2nd video he pretends to hang himself in the last verse of the song

Alot of the tracks on cherry bomb were meant to be instrumentals but label pressure made him add verses but he mixed them very low making the album very polarizing
