@@ananyapawar5356 aged well why kid? If you cant understand that RF is still the best thing that ever happened to tennis, i am sad for you. But i am sure you havent picked a racket in your life and thats a fact for all Dokovic fans. KIDS!!
He is the lion of the jungle.. Neither the fastest.. Or the tallest.. Or the biggest... But he is still the king... 😊😊 Long live the king... Well deserved victory..
He is the smartest though. He knows how to beat every type of player. Last year he was only defeated by a dip in concentration (Dubai & ATP Finals), some rustiness (Stuttgart), and a troubled back (Montreal and US Open). Think about that....
Just as we thought Federer would close out the match in the 4th set, he loses his serve twice and Cilic pulls through. And with momentum and confidence going for him entering the 5th, was pretty sure Cilic was going to win. Federer had other plans, he elevated his game to another level and gave his opponent little chance. That's what makes him the greatest. He's able to elevate, adapt his game and play with uncanny coolness under adversity and extreme pressure. Remarkable.
Roger Federer is the quintessential example of the sport and tradition of tennis. He lets his game speak for himself, and shows a true love for the game whether he's on the winning-side or not. It amazes me that he told his parents at the age of 12 he was leaving to go to a tennis academy to pursue his dream. These achievements we see here in the modern day were formed in his mind many years ago. Imagine being young and dreaming of breaking records in the sport, like total Major Wins, or even personal goals like serving 4-5 aces in a row, etc. Determined to be the best whether he is currently at that level or not.
1:54 Picks up like that should tell you how talented this guy is. He was falling backwards all the while too. Insane volley, one of the very few good forehands he hit today.
I feel very lucky that I have been able to witness the best ever sportsman on earth... KingRoger.. There are many great sportsman around the world but there is no one like him 😘
That's your opinion. Of course, for other people a whole assortment of athletes are 'the greatest ever in history of mankind'. In the end, these are just grown men who hit balls over the net instead of work to cure cancer or end poverty.
Roger has always taken the ball early but today he's taken it to another level especially on the backhand. He's a different player than the "old" Roger of 2003.
End of an Era. Thank you Maéstro, a.k.a. Roger Federer for all the memories. It was an honour witnessing your grace, elegance, flamboyance. There will never be another athlete, another Champion, another #Legend like you. We all realise what you had to go through the past 3 years with 3 back to back arthroscopic surgeries on the knee. The only thing I am happy about now is that you will be relieved of the physical stress that a tennis athlete has to endure in order to play at the highest level. Needless to say that it breaks my heart to even imagine that you will never be seen again in the ATP Circuit after next week. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔Tennis will never be the same again without you, Rog! Thank you Roger Federer for everything you gave to the Sport, thank you for the sheer joy, encouragement, motivation, belief that you gave us over the years. There will never ever be another Champion like you. 💯❣️❤️
@@fg92626 well well.. Roger still won 8 Grand Slams from 2009 to 2019, and he would have won 10, or maybe even 11, if it weren't for Djokovic's match point saves(at the 2011 USO, and 2019 Wimbledon).More importantly, Federer schooled the Prime Djokovic at the 2011 RG, at a point when he was holding onto a 43 match winning streak. All these just show how naive you are, and how one sided your analysis is. 😂
@@diptanupandey8820 the sad truth is that Fed got dethroned in August 2008 after falling victim of 22 yo claycourt bully in wimbledon final, he stopped winning gs titles in 2010 and between 2011 and 2016 he won only one (1) gs. He didn’t pose any risk to Djokovic in gs since 2012 and broke only the 71 year old dubious record of wimbledon runner-up who lost a final after having had championship points and finally he retired with a bagel in wimbledon from Hubie Hurkacz😎
@@fg92626 I bet you ten thousand bucks that the Djokovic of 2017 , and also AO 2018 wouldn't have been able to win a set had he faced the Federer of 2017-AO 2018. Speaking of Wimbledon 2021. The fact that a 41 year old ailing Roger Federer reached the Wimbledon QF after having 2 back to back knee surgeries and having been out of the game, out of match practice for more than a year, speaks volumes of his love for the game, his dedication, determination and sheer talent. We shall see how Djokovic fares when he reaches 40!! 🙂🙃Djokovic and Nadal already have a huge advantage, considering the current weak Gen(1988-2002 borns, except Medvedev, and partly Sinner, but then too they havent been able to act as a Potential threat for Nadal and Djokovic) who can hardly challenge then in G.Slams, specially on Clay and Grass! Among the new rising stars, Alcaraz and Mussetti seem promising, but still they lack plenty of experience.
@@diptanupandey8820 lol Fed impotent performence against Djokovic at AO saw him literally win one (1) set in the last 15 years FACT 😎 i hope he can already sit after that awfull 2020 AO SF spanking 😎 Fed last success against the king of grass was in the distant 2012 he posed zero (0) risk since to Djokovic. The golden era of tennis was 2011-2016 where Fed won 1 GS.😎
What an athlete, what a legend. We'll never see another tennis player like him again. Winning a major at age 36 is just incredible. Congrats King Fed on your 20th major championship. Cheers for many more to come!!!!!
really excited federer won! hope he wins more grand slams, atp world tour finals, atp 1000, atp 500, atp 250, laver cups, and anything else on the annual atp world tour schedule! hope he keeps improving his game and retires at age 45 years!
Age is just a number for him..Incredible stuff at this age of 36...Apart from so many hurdles and disappointment he is just proving still he is G.O.A.T..Congrats the great Roger Federer for 20th grand slam...
Cilic pulled off the Houdini trick in the 4th set, winning 5 straight games, just like Federer did last year against Nadal in the 5th set. But no matter how good of a magician you are, The Great Wizard of Basel will always be a step ahead of you.
Both players were very humble after the match. Cilic will win a few more slams before he's done - he definitely has game. The secret of success in men's pro tennis: FIRST SERVE. And when Federer's serve abandoned him, so did his game (4th Set). Then the 5th Set - his first serve landing in and bingo - his game is back. And when Federer gets his first serve in - he becomes the master of court management.
Smart observation. Both players had solid game plans. It all revolved on whose first serve was a little weaker in that moment. When Cilic lost the 3rd set, he didn't hit a first serve in at all in the game he was broken. Then Roger lost this in the 4th. But in the 5th, Cilic's serve just deserted him, only 38% vs Federer's 76%. Also Cilic wasn't able to get his insane angles clicking. Federer gave him less pacy balls and tried to stop him from moving to the corners. Cilic in turn did everything to stop Federer from stepping into the court. Cilic isn't Nadal, he's harder to hit past and a deadly attacker. That backhand that saved Fed in the 5th was at an unbelievable angle to get it past him. So all said and done, it was the first serve.
Akhil Raaj Indeed! Roger did lose a bit of focus after being a break up in the fourth set but credit Cilic for running through the set. In fact, Cilic had all momentum going into the fifth and had break points on Fed’s serve in the first game of the decider. Once Fed held tough for a hold, he pretty much breezed through the set. Both athletes should be proud of the effort and both deserve appreciation and applause! Fed is GOAT and Cilic, A very worthy opponent indeed!
people are freaking out that this speech was a retirement speech i don't think it was because he was so happy and when you do really well in grand slams you have to get emotional sometimes
Say what you want about Federer, he will surely be missed once he retires. At this rate, he will still be able to win slams at 40, just a question of how long he will continue.
No it's a half volley dude. A forehand on the rise is taken at the apex of a bounce as it's rising about waist high or slightly higher, a half volley is taken immediately off the bounce around calf height. Watch again and you will see a continental grip and the ball hit right off the bounce, DUDE.
And the amount of top spin and side spin he was able to put into it, and so much pace on a half volley and that placement...wrong footing Cilic completely who was in control of rally at that point, and Fed just neutralised it in just one flick...Unreal, GOAT!!
@@KarabauPlay Djoko will likely pass Federer's GS record, but Roger's ball striking, court sense, mental strength and grace on the court put him in the #1 spot in my eyes. That is of course just my opinion.
I still don't get how Cilic is as mobile as someone who is 5'11. This guy is so tall and yet he can move! Gotta love his game but he got bested by the King of tennis himself!
23 gold medals because there's too many swimming events even though it's all the same. All he's doing is trying to swim as fast as possible. Not really competing against other people. Just trying to beat his own time.
This Federer level in Jan. 2018 shows me that his US Open performance in Sept. 2018 was poor because of the stadium conditions with no air. It was hot here too but very open.
I think it is clear at this point, Federer is the GOAT. I know his record against Nadal on clay is pretty bad but honestly not even a machine could beat Nadal on clay at this point. But 20 grand slam titles is ridiculous
The argument for Nadal on clay can be more or less countered by the number of times he's lost to extremely low ranked players early at Wimbledon. At least Federer was making it far enough to play Nadal on clay. They've both been so great I'm ok with just calling them the top 2 all time though and have stopped trying to argue who's better.
@@evankirksey3735 there is no argue. Simpel facts federer has 16 wins against nadal and nadal has 24 wins. So nadal is better there is no arguing simpel facts.
@@cryptohodler824 i am a nadal fan and you are correct he is the better of them 2. He leads against both of them simple logic Also dontsay GOAT. records get broken eventually
