Do NOT reward Roland for creating musical instruments YOU WILL NOT OWN. Do not buy subscription based instruments if you value yourselves as consumers and rightful owners of the stuff you *purchase*, no matter how shiny the toy is. There are always amazing alternatives out there - go reward them instead.

Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. From Roland's website: "GALAXIAS is available exclusively with Roland Cloud Ultimate membership". Done with your membership? Kiss your Galaxia license goodbye. 2. A lifetime key is NOT ownership. From Roland's TOS: "Roland continues to offer the applicable Lifetime Membership Keys to users through the Roland Cloud Service. For clarity, references to “lifetime” or the “life of the Account holder” under this Agreement mean the natural life of the individual who registered for the Account, and such rights are not transferable, descendible, or inheritable. You do not need a Subscription to purchase a Lifetime Membership Key. .. . . If you remove, cancel or terminate your Account, or if your Account is terminated by Roland for violation of the Terms of Use or other policies or conditions provided to you, you will not be able to use the Lifetime Membership Keys you have purchased. There will be no refunds." So it's NOT yours, you cannot sell it, you cannot give it, and if Roland one day decides it's done with the cloud, or with you, kiss your "lifetime" key goodbye. Many small time manufacturers get this RIGHT. Hi Jack! Happy New Year! The Roland Plug-Outs work only with the System-8, System-1 and System-1M. The System-8 will run any plugout, the System -1 and System-1M are limited to simpler plugouts like the SH-101 (monophonic). Fantom EX can run ACB models (all plugouts are ACB) but the ACB models in Fantom are loaded in as a model expansion, not a plugout.
Been playing on Galaxias for a week now. Gotta say, so fun. Why not splurge $20 a couple times a year and just jam? Fun to have access to so much and not have to ever open a DAW.

You can do the same thing if you have akai VIP 3..I've been doing this for ages. But where VIP beats it is you can layer any plugin not just Roland. Also you can have 8 layers plus you can use any FX plugin and it can be done in standalone or as a vst.

Definitely not interested in a subscription service. Just trying to demo this made it easy for me to abandon. If I could download it and own it, I’d be onboard.
Being able to "rent" a massive collection of synths would make a lot of sense... if you couldn't already just buy the Arturia V Collection for not a ton of money and own the software. Yes, they're not the same, but renting software is a no-go for a lot of people. You can buy all the Roland stuff, but it'd cost a massive amount of money, unlike the V Collection. However, if you're broke and you want to make an album, I could say where renting is more affordable in the short term. Or if you're a business, renting might work.
Another note - The Roland Jupiter 8 uses like four times the CPU as the Arturia version. To my ears, they're comparable in terms of sound, but I might give a slight edge to the Roland version... but at 4 times the CPU, I'd still prefer the Arturia, as a budget-conscious musician,
There are VST hosts allowing you to program every type of VST layering or splitting. I use GigPerformer, but I know Cantabile and Camelot that work perfectly well. You can do everything you want, including automation with your midi controller resources (buttons, potentiometers, faders). With all the VSTs you own.
One of my favorite is the sp808, don't understand why they never made an up to date version, with more polyphony and a real memory (not zip !). Would be much better than the sp 404.
Dang!, It seems that Roland has been catching up on to the subscription mindset, just like DAW Plugins for the past decades. I will not be surprise if soon they will make a keyboard with subscription enabled sounds in the next decades. So in these kind of scenarios you don't own much/nothing.
If only they came out with a decent keyboard controller to run it with. The way I see it, I would not pay for this every motnh but if I were to produce something where I need these patched, I would set up my midi and record and sample what I need and move on...
Great shout and agreed. I actually thought that’s what this was initially. That’s the only way a subscription service works for me, include the controller with X length of contract or something. A decent premium controller. With the hardware to run the software built in if the heavy CPU usage is still the same haha!

I prefer to pay upfront instead of having a friend that s asking all the time for money And you know what, I believe that it would be even more advantageous for them considering that after one year of use I d get tired of it. Well, you can buy 1 pro keyboard from $1000.- $5000.- "OR" pay monthly or annually for the whole TOY BOX of Super Fun Groovy Roland Goodness - Do the math folks - - - after 5 years you've only paid $1000.- for all the Roland Treasure not a smidge of it. "DO THE MATH".
Probably great for someone, but personally I HATE plugins. I'm old so, dedicated hardware attached to whatever soundengine is the way for me. On another note, Zencore always sounded plastic to me. 🤷
You literally have 16 years of Ultimate membership before you hit the price of flagship Fantom. I do not understand why people hate subscription model. Don't like it? Don't buy it. There are many other options.
Instant no buy, the need to check in to prove you bought it If you cannot trade it in send it to a friend sell it need Internet to use it than you don't own it you are just renting.Without hardware there is no value as it cost 9 for software after the initial r and d. Pure profit.
