The Irish Guy examines the Italian press deciding that Cristiano Ronaldo has been a Juventus flop after their Champions League exit to Porto. #ronaldo #championsleague #messi #juventus
Ronaldo is considered kind of a flop in the Champions League. He was brought in to win it for them and achieve that last step towards the trophy. Instead, he has not led them to pass the Quarters. I know he can't carry a whole team now on his own but still...they paid 100 million plus cash for someone to let them win more not less...now they will lose Serie A and haven't won except a simple trophy against Napoli this year
@@myname1552 juve hasn't done shit in the UCL in years. It's not just down to cr7. Plus their mgr is even less experienced lampard. Pirlo had 0 experience when he got hired
@@RasenRendanX they have reached 2 finals WITHOUT Ron. It was expected they would make a step forward and actually WIN the final but they haven't even reached Semis
@@lucasdunn1147 Wrong. 2010 England squad was just Poor. Defending was atrocious, shambolic. They’re lucky to have gotten out of the group stage, honestly more painful than 2014.
Just because you're embarrassing yourself does not mean you can't criticise others for being embarrassing. But don't get me wrong CR7's time at Juve has been far from poor, man has carried a bang average team.
He’s old. It happens. Whenever Ronaldo plays, he will be one of the best out there, but you can’t play forever. Messi and Ronaldo are only a few years off retirement, so trying to blame solely them for a teams success and failure isn’t fair.
Nah with the way some players play today.. Both zlatan and CR7 will be past 40 when they retire and their dip in quality will be minimal.. I think messi will retire first but he still has good years in him
@@snow5064 Ronaldo and Zlatan are slaves to physical perfection. We’re talking yoga, ballet, taekwondo, a refined sugar and red meat free diet. 5 hours a day doing low weight high repetition gym sessions. No one in the history of sport have put this much effort into attaining and sustaining physical ability as those two.
@@aidanb9671 did you see the vid on hitc 7 which looked at the clubs who's entire wage bill is lower than messi's "reported" wage? Apparently it's over 2.1m euro a week. Ronaldo's only 500k at that price maybe messi should be performing 4 times better than Ronaldo haha
eh, no? Agreed, Ronaldo at Juventus hasn't at all been bad, but then he needs to step up in important games like Napoli, Lazio, Inter, ACM & Porto. If not by scoring, then at least by helping the team in the build-up, with creative moments and some playmaking. But Ronaldo does neither of that, he's just a goalscorer which might not suffice for Juve's purpose. As in there are so many bright Juve youngsters like Chiesa, Kulusevski & McKennie who can create and pose a threat to the goal, so perhaps their progress is being stalled by Ronaldo's omnipresence. Just my view tho.
I agree but i think you may be forgetting the times where ronaldo was the only good player for a struggling juventus. And maybe the young players that are now flourishing because they have CHRISTIANO RONALDO in the dressing room. World stars like him improve teams just by being around him. These young players would have grown up idolising him. So he has done so much than just score a ton of goals(which is an achievement on its own).
@@dhruvmaslekar Lol exactly. These two have set the bar so high for themselves that they are deemed as 'flop' even though they are still better than most other footballers at their worst.People have too high expectations from them despite them being in the twilight of their careers.
@@ashishmehta8342 I can imagine the psychological toll on these players from getting hate just for performing below their usual standards which would be deemed incredible for other normal players.
This video is a proof that Irish Guy talks much more sense than majority of the Football Pundits , Journalists , former professionals and RU-vidrs . Love you Michael Ramsay ❤️❤️
@@mosaeed5744 it’s truly unfair for both Messi and Ronaldo because they are both game winners, when they don’t show up suddenly the teammates who missed open goals (juve vs Porto) and ones that miss one on ones (Liverpool 4-0 Barca) aren’t to blame.
@@arthur0023 I mean, maybe, his huge Character(the power he gained because of his incredible achievments) disturbed other team members and crashed team balance. But there is no evidence or sth so youre right
stupid ronaldo fans keep tryna make it seem like messi played had yesterday when he was the best on the field with navas. They call messi a choker than watch ronaldo against porto and got in there feelings now there taking it out on messi
@@thebarcaboardroom406 Your also kinda stupid because ronaldo bottled against porto but scored all except three of juventus's goals in knockouts since joining them.
@@mahiramahzabeen8924 but than his fans call messi a choker when he does the same against those level of teams. But barca actually WIN those games. They beat lyon, and napoli. But the narrative is ronaldo "put up a fight" and messi "choked". On top of that all the trash ronaldo fans talked after the first leg against psg
does anybody remember that at the beginning of the season messi had the same problem eventually a player will play terrible look at the team around messi and around ronaldo both are a team with good players koeman is a good manager but come on pirlo is far from good at least koeman did very well with the dutch national team.
@Harvey White but at that time benzema was there to track and do everything ronaldo didn't want to...this is why he's better now cause he doesn't have to do all that
@@tkay25 Like Messi didn’t have Suarez, Neymar, Rakitic, Alba, Ter Stegen, etc. Both sides used to be absolutely perfect, don’t act like Messi had a worse team
@@alexbeck8568 that's not at all what I'm saying I'm just saying I hate ppl who say ronaldo carried real madrid to ucl titles...he did not.He had the best player in every single position I even forgot navas...I'm just saying y'all should use the same criticism you give messi to CR .I'm actually a real admirer of both and I hate these new guys haaland and mbappe who'll prolly pass their goal tallies even tho messi and ronaldo are better than them
So ronaldo from 33 to 36 getting 28 goals then 38 (31 in the league)then 20 so far is a flop not to mention he scored in 11 consecutive games scored a hatrick to sink athleti is the seri a top scorer as we speak that's a flop?
yeah for me this was a crazier appointment than Lampard, I know Pirlo is a legend but he really needed to be a coach or a manager for a while in order to even consider appointing him... I think they took what they had under Sarri for granted and look at them now lol
@@champeone7061 And he did okay all things considered in season one despite the challenges. At least Lamps had experience, albeit Championship, so slightly different from Pirlo. We don't talk about THIS season however...
@@guguy00 at his first season in championship and his first season at chelsea was very good. Your man pirlo cant even top the table of a farmers league
It’s safe to say that Ronaldo is better than Messi, he’s broken more leagues and left his eternal mark. Messi is an absolute God, but he’s only ever played in Spain. Ronaldo has played, and dominated, in England, Spain, and now Italy. I know he played in Portugal first, but he was nowhere near the player he was in the following three countries.
Ronaldo won 2 league in 9 year in Spain.. 😂 Changing club doesn't make good just say zlatan Ronaldo didn't even go to mid table table.. 😂 Gold digger penlaldo
According to Arthur, Ronaldo is very involved with his team mates in the dressing room, that shows good leadership, and then this bruno guy is calling him arrogant cause he cabt speak Italian
The problem is that Bruno hasn't really got the reputation to say this type of things: it's actually almost the opposite. He never won a senior cap for our national team, and the main reason why he's remembered is that he was one of the most brutal and reckless defenders Serie A has ever seen... 😅
Cuadrado was class in that second leg, coming from a Porto fan. He showed way more passion and skill than any of those Juventus players, apart from Chiesa
@@firefootball7 Love folk like you in the Internet that slate off footballers. They're all playing at very highest level of the game and you're sitting with your belly sagging out your t-shirt slating them😂
I understand where ur coming but the fact is that juve didnt need ronaldo tu win fuckin serie A and since he arrived they just got worse either in champions league specially and in serie A
I’m 12 and I even I know that’s ronaldo can not be called a flop that’s bs man he’s one off the best players ever to be born and he’s 36 and in the shape off his life and still playing at the highest level u can’t blame ronaldo when he’s scored 27 goals so far this season he could still win anything if anything I blame juventus
Yes Ronaldo shouldn't have turned his back but why was he even in the wall in the first place? You would think putting natural defenders in the wall and not splitting like the red sea when the balls hit. I would blame the keeper hes the one setting up the position of the wall and at that time in a CL tie why wasnt the wall packed full of players. Juve had 10 on field players to choose from.
call ronaldo a flop, won 5 ballon d'ors, scored 20+ goals a season, and is 36. ronaldo scored 100 goals first before dybala. cant really call him a flop
Here’s my take: Ronaldo has been great for Juventus but it was still a bad buy from the club. The sole reason they bought Ronaldo was to get that champions league and they seem further away than before he came, the money could have been invested wiser (not ronaldos fault though)
Sorry but you seem not to understand how football economy works. That buy alone was far bigger gain for the club than they spent on him. And it is not his fault that they decided to get a rookie coach. Rookies don't win the champions
I disagree. They had five transfer windows to fix and make a champions league competing squad. They also chose sarri and pirlo after Allegri left . Ronaldo has carried the team way too many times already and has justified his price tag. There are only a few number of players who could've produced the numbers Ronaldo did and they wouldn't have come cheap at all ( atleast more than Ronaldo's cost)
Bruh... Why do people always blame Ronaldo and Messi when the TEAM fails. The end of the day football is a TEAM sport... So if the whole team os conceding goals and not performing well how can you just blame 1 player. If juventus wanted to win the champions league they need a world class coach that gets a team working as one cohesive unit
He’s not a juventus flop, but ronaldo going to juve was an incredibly stupid decision. Not saying he should of stayed at real but the premier league or PSG would of been a much better move
@@samplingmastersxlr8660 His fanboys deserve it,not him.It is not like Ronaldo asks them to troll Messi. Both don't even give a damn about what is being said about them on social media.
Tbh if just under a goal a game ratio at one of the biggest clubs in the world in your mid 30's constitutes being 'a flop' (by your normal standards), that merely enhances the argument that Cristiano Ronaldo is without a doubt one of the greatest footballers ever. I don't think our generation fully realized how lucky we were to have both Messi & C. Ronaldo playing at the same time. All that time we spent comparing them, we should've celebrated both.
I’m gonna look at this from an alternative angle: Ronaldo himself isn’t a flop, but the transfer itself is. Juventus are now regressing and stand a high chance of losing their dominance on Serie A and haven’t come close to a CL final. That isn’t Ronaldo‘s fault as he’s done incredibly well, but it’s the clubs fault for spending big on one player rather than improving the entire squad. Real and Ronaldo were a match made in heaven, and breaking it up has brought out these views of him being a "flop."
@@ahmedxd3333 Losing Allegri was probably the worst thing that’s happened to them. He took Conte‘s success and cemented it, with his own little imprint on the team. Sarri maybe could have done better if he had an improved overall squad, but not likely. Pirlo just isn’t ready.
Yesterday Messi put in a master class but barca couldn't finish, Ronaldo put in 2 disaster classes vs Porto ffs, and opened his legs to let porto through...
This isnt new for Ronaldo to face the criticism of the media. He is doing that for the past decade. And even after everything one thing has always been constant and it is how he always bounce back from these situation. And he will bounce back hard from this situation. Once a promise was made(Champions league for the old lady) and the promise will be kept.
Juventus : Hi Ronaldo, you have to win us the champions league. It doesn't matter that we don't have a squad good enough to be one of Europe's best an that we continue to hire managers who aren't good enough to win it. Yeah ofcourse the opposition teams are gonna be record breaking teams with star studded players and quality managers. I know you are past your prime but you are gonna get 31 million a year. So best of luck..
Juventus: Hey Ronaldo,I don't care if I've appointed pirlo as the manager and I don't care if I've not signed any creative players. You knocked the hell outof me when I was close to winning the damn thing and I'll make sure you suffer just like me
I have seen the critics from Juventus fans .....totally unfounded. The reality is that the club wanted to be like Real Madrid without having the financial means. CR7 is an indisputable talent even at his age. The club spent that money for the player without enduring to build a proper team around him.
He is a legend. And some people who can't do anything in their lives hate him, as he has achieved more than anyone in this game both on club and country level
Yes he was brought in to win the CL yes he hasn't delivered but last I checked football is a team game the fact he can still hit 30 plus goals a season at his age is nothing short of incredible Ronaldo and LeBron James are defying everything we have ever known about pro athletes
I'm not a Cristiano fan, but wow. Just wow. Everyone blaming him for juves failure because he turned his back towards the ball. What a pathetic way to blame someone, not because he scored an own goal or because he failed to score 20 goals a season but because he turned his face against the ball. The fuck is that. Literally the guy next to him, whoever he was also turned his body around but hes not getting any blame. Jesus man, give this man a break. Give him some respect. He should be treated as a legend in every club he played at. He got hate from real too. Wtf.
The fact that there are people calling Ronaldo a 'flop' for scoring 30+ goals every season at Juventus only showcases how good he really is. Haters will always exist no matter how many times one has proven himself on the big stage.
RONALDO IS GOOD HE HAD ONE BAD GAME DO NOT CALL HIM A FLOP WHEN IN 2 SEASONS GOALS: AROUND 60-80 a HATTRICK VS AT LET IT GO ASSISTS 40-60 GEEZ FOR A 36 y/O
I'm a Barcelona fan, I hate Ronaldo in some way but I recognize his greatness and his docorated career. I recognize why some people might call him the "goat" but what I don't understand are people calling him a flop. I am sorry but if a man scores 30+ a season for a club and it's considered a flop. If you expected a punchline or some shit go away.
Messi carried a trash Argentina team to a World Cup final and 2 copa America’s... Ronaldo can’t even take a far superior juve team past the round of 16 in the champions league 🤡
If he’s a flop, then EVERY forward for Juventus from 1997 until NOW are flops since none of them were able to win champions league ever since. Ronaldo is 36, some of your favorite players or legends were either washed up or just simply retired at this age, yet he’s the highest goal scorer in Serie A. Ronaldo doesn’t have Juventus powerhouse mids like prime Vidal, Marchisio, and Pogba, also he doesn’t have someone like Tevez or Higuian as a striker partnership; the defense is also not as good as 5-6 years ago. If he joined that Juventus team 5-6 years ago, he would of helped them win the Champions League. I’m not even defending Ronaldo, just straight up #FAXX here.
@@EasyWinnerz bruh are you dumb cheisa has been sick the whole season. It seems like you’re either American or just don’t watch serie a. Apart from Ronaldo cheisa is juves best attacker. Man has 12 goals and 9 assists this season , mckennie’s performance levels have dipped a bit

If thats a flop i cant imagine GOAT stats. 🤡🤡🤡
He’s definitely not the reason Juve lost. He didn’t play well in the Porto game, but neither did any of the other Juve players (other than Chiesa). And Pirlo was signed for the long term project, not to be good right away. He’s done a decent job with the players he has tho.
Federico Chiesa, after the 1st leg, was the first Juventus player besides Ronaldo to score a UCL knockout goal since 2018. Don't dare blame Cristiano. Juve's team is not good enough. Plain and simple.
Thank you for defending Ronaldo in this time. God bless you. For a time it seems like I was the only person that was defending him and it just makes me sick to see an absolute beast of the game getting ridiculed like that. Thank you.
Juventus have been awful all season, unfortunately I wasn’t very surprised they bottled it, they have 3 good players ronaldo, de ligt and Chiesa the midfield is poor, defence is ageing very badly and striking options are useless, Ronaldo has the highest percentage of his teams goals in Europe this year is like 43% and yet people still blame him. Anyone who watches juventus every week unfortunately won’t have been very surprised
I completely agree with everything on this video EXCEPT one. Morata is having a very good season in Turin and he's actually one of the better players in that team
