Hello all, its World of the Arms here. I decided to try my chances again and buy a M1888/90 Austro-Hungarian Mannlicher from RTI (Royal Tiger Imports). I bought one while they were on sale for $200. Shipping was $50. I paid $250 total for the firearm. In this video I will go over what I received from them.

the rifle is a M1890 it was made to use smokeless powder, the thick barrel shank at the receiver is how you know

That's a super nice rifle, world's better than the one I received, mine had a crack all the way around the stock.

Thanks! It does seems like I got one of the better ones from the $200 sale. It sucks that yours had a crack like that. I suppose that it's to be expected from RTI. How was your barrel though? did yours clean better than mine lol?

Did you ever try firing this and seeing if it would stabilize a projectile? I have one as well, it certainly has more rifling than yours, but is pitted throughout.

Mine came with the side plates but I'm thinking of taking them off since the markings are so worn down but the original markings are crisp

@worldofthearms6976 Год назад
Oh nice! Yeah I get that. Gotta love the 'normal' RTI wear and tear lol. Atleast your original markings are nice!

My reloads are with the .329 bullet works perfectly, very nice rifle
@worldofthearms6976
@worldofthearms6976 Год назад
Thanks! & I will have to experiment that bullet diameter. I'm hoping that the rifling in mine will shine up a bit with some shooting. Is your rifle from RTI? If so, how's your barrel?

@@worldofthearms6976 yes I ordered two both were in rough shape but cleaned up very well, I made 2 videos over them, the 8X50 bullet was a .323 but with a expanding base, the bores on the 1890s and 1895s average out at .329

@@texascastblast5011 Oh I see. I just watched your video on both. I will definitely try that! Also, nice videos!

Do you have to have a gun license to get a no FFL antique rifle?. Im about to get my very first rifle but Im unsure if I need a license since im in California but it says it’s a federal mandate. So if anyone can please help me out please let me know

In most everywhere else in the country, anything 1898 and older is classified as an antique. So in my situation, I can have any antique firearm shipped directly to my address in Iowa without a background check. I am not sure about the laws in California. You may in your situation have to ship it to an FFL even if its an antique. I don't really know California gun laws.

If she shoots well enough I’ve got a nice 88/90 with a good bore from the RTI lottery I wouldn’t mind trading you. It has African stamps on the stock which I personally don’t like though you may not mind. Btw use .329 ppu bullets for these guns, grafs sells them and they’re the correct Diameter for the bore. The original .321 bullets had a base that upset to fill the rifling and that’s not something that can be easily replicated nowadays so it’s best to use a proper sized boat tail. Cheers!

Oh really? Might be interested in that. and thanks for the info!

@@worldofthearms6976 ofc, just shoot me your fb insta or email or something and we can talk if all goes well. Btw for reloading off 54r brass you likely don’t even need to trim, I certainly haven’t for the rifles I have. Cheers!

Does that hole in the stock serve a purpose like bolt disassembly?
@worldofthearms6976
@worldofthearms6976 Год назад
Not on this rifle, as the bolt is quite different than per say a Mauser. It could have been that an Ethiopian had something decorative pinned to the stock and thus made the hole. It doesn't go completely though.

The 88/ 90 bullet is .323"

If it was made after 1890, they'd already have the updated sights. Are you able to see the date?
@worldofthearms6976
@worldofthearms6976 Год назад
Good point! Unfortunately I cannot see a date on mine. I wish I could!

That rifle is an 1890 pattern. I can tell by the extended barrel shank. The numbers on the right side of the sight should also go up to 30. In an unconverted 1888, it would only go up to 25.

The rifle is model 1890 not 88/90.
