I want to give Kudos to Corey and Palmetto Battery Pros for their awesome service. I picked up the RoyPow 48v 105aH at their store locally and used this video to install it on my 2012 Club car Precedent. Palmetto Battery Pros is a top-notch dealer/servicer that you can trust and they were more than happy to answer all of my questions. Fortunately, I did not run into any issues (thanks to the Video) but if I did they told me to call and that they would be happy to assist. I would like to add that I am a degreed electrical engineer so you need to be respectful of the electricity/current present in this device. I have a 2015 club car precedent. It had the ERIC charger. From what i understand i do not have an OBC. Do i have to worry about anything using the factory charging port? Thanks!
I have a 2018 club car pres with this kits installed but still has factory charging port on the front is there a way to adapt the factory port to be able to plug in 120v without having to lift the seat every time I need to plug in the lithium battery charger?
I have a 2010 Club Car Precedent. If I don't remove the original charging port (and don't use it of course with lithium) two of the wires go into the OBC, the red wire used to hook to the 8 volt batteries I believe. What do I do with the red wire? Do I just leave it dangling? Thanks! I did not bypass the OBC.
The 12v light wiring harness should have a positive and negative wire end. For this install I used wire connectors to crimp the light harness wire ends to the reducer OUTPUT positive and negative.
@@PalmettoBatteryPros does each device need a reducer? Or is there some type of block to use where you can tie in a few accessories? I have a speaker bar, LED Underglow Kit, and LED light kit. I wouldn't need 3 reducers right?
@@nyguy4u and @Palmetto Battery Pros, I would like to know the same thing, although I am expecting we can connect a 12v Fuse Block with say 6 connections to attach up to 6 12v accessories. My question would be whether there are different voltage/amp of fuse blocks. I am installing three (3) Nilight - 18005C-A 26Inch Triple Row Lights 297W 29700LM Flood Spot Combo Beam Bars on my ClubCar Precedent roof, and want to ensure that if I turned ON more than one of them at a time, would I have a concern of overheating the fuseblock or something else?
So bear with me. Wiring is far from my strong suit. Where is this wiring harness for the lights? From that point, how exactly are we modifying it to work in the voltage reducer?
How did you know the speed controller failed , what were the indications. I think i have the same problem after install of roy pow in my 2007. Ran good for 3 days then felt like a car jumping out of gear presedent
I honestly can't remember, I've done so many carts since this one. When the cart is messing up, test voltage at the battery terminals to make sure the BMS isn't resetting or failing (the voltage will be low and dropping). If the battery is holding voltage, then you could have a solenoid issue or the OBC needs to be bypassed.
We replace the charging port and bypass the OBC in some of the newer installation videos. I recommend watching one of those to answer all of your questions.
So this was one of early videos, I have since abandoned using self tapping screws to mount the battery and now use nut and bolt. I use the ones provided by RoyPow. It isn't the best hardware, but if I think if you're exerting enough force to break them then you probably have bigger issues to deal with.
Can you tell me is that mounting kit came with the RoyPow battery. When contacting them today they didn't mention any of that as an option to purchase.
When I purchase RoyPows I have to order the mounting brackets and charger separately. Where did you order your battery from? I sell mine in a complete kit based on cart type.

I actually just filmed a Tomberlin install, but we ended up having to replace the controller so I haven't released it. We are actually still troubleshooting the cart. I will be doing a video on installing on Tomberlin once I get some info on why I've had issues with the cart.
Currently, there is no mechanism to prevent usage while charging. With that being said, ECO is releasing a CAN BUS feature this year (July is the projected availability date) that will prevent the golf cart from being driven while charging. Mounting the roypow battery on the extreme passenger side. Does that cause weight distribution issues? More weight on the passenger side cause the cart to lean?
I will try and address that in a future video. Existing chargers have to be able to and reprogrammed with a LFP (Lifepo4) charge algorithm. Newer chargers can be updated, contact manufacturer to see if your charger algorithms can be changed. If your charger can not be reprogrammed, you will need to purchase a LFP charger.
Thanks for getting back to me, I am in the process of installing the exact battery in your video in my 2016 club car. I have the flash drive to insert in my charger once the installation is finished, but I was wondering if you need to do anything other than hooking the battery up and plug in the charger. I agree and normally crimp everything, but the customer wanted to add a fuse block and extra accessories himself after the battery was installed. To make it easier for him, I just used the wire nuts.
