Someone bought my 2080ti for $990 (USA) four days ago .-. I should feel bad about it tbh. But it was an auction online. Not a private sale to a friend or whatever. So no guilt here.
Partially because he has set himself up in small niche for most of his content, He does SFF for most of his content which automatically narrows his audience.
@@jhonedoe3734 Definitely! I can hardly wait for reviews and also the 6700xt release. Great to see AMD performing at the top end but I'll personally be looking at price/perf in the mid range.
I just finished modding my Velka 3 so it can hold cards over 180mm. I bought it last year but I kept missing out on any compatible RT2060/GTX1660 cards(shops either run of stock or their prices suddenly went up the roof). When I realized the Zotac has one of the shortest dual fan RTX2060, I decided to mod the case to add some more mm.
K39 user reporting in! I'm currently running the Gigabyte 2070 Mini paired with a 3700X, and I have no complaints. From high frame rate gaming to light 3d production, it handles all of it, but I'm considering upgrading to a 3070 as soon as there's an ITX version. My only concerns are the 12-pin connector fitment, power draw, and thermal management.
@@johnathanera5863 seems like a lot of work just to get higher fps. my recommendation is to upgrade your gpu when your 2070 is no longer giving you the performance you need. no need to create more waste.
This card is actually very attractive to me. The 1080p performance with max quality settings will stand at least for 5 years. That could also be translated into a great 1440p experience with DLSS enabled.
@@julianmanjarres1998 No I'm struggling on 4K for 1 because the FE cooler was too small and it keeps hitting thermal wall, 2 vram is barely enough for some games at 4K.
I find it so funny reading all the old comments from 2080ti owners saying "but its not been tested yet, it cant possible be true that its as powerful as my 2080ti". Well... It was true... lol
Well 2080 Ti owners had this performance for 2+ years so I doubt they care unless they are stupid and bought a 2080 Ti in 2020. Also, most people buying a 1200 dollars card, can easily afford it. I have been holding on to my 1080 Ti but a 3080 is incoming.
@@lort6022 that card was so good id almost suggest holding out for 4000 or 30ti because the power draw of 3000 is a little unreasonable, they need to step up efficiency now
Dude your videos are fantastic. Every single one of them. They are highly informative, helpful, and they are always very high quality. Keep it up man 👍
Hi Ali, Great vid! Will you be putting this in the nzxt h1? There seems to be a lot of requests in the commemts Would love to see the performance (thermals). Thanks
The thing is: AMD doesn't have to compete with products that aren't available (cough cough, RTX 3080/3090 and maybe even 3070). This season's battle will be one of availability and not product spreadsheets. If AMD actually manages to get some product out before christmas, kudos!
Well Amd just beat all nvidia cards , yes even rtx3090 got beat by new Amd GPUs. I bet you arrogant ngredia fanboys were thinking Amd only gonna be as fast as rtx3070 , lol Rtx3070 is DOA now , Amd rx6800 beat it by 15% and that's 3 rd card from top. Lol
@@skywalker1991 As much as i like AMD, it only beats it if you have 5XX Motherboard and 5XXX CPU from AMD. Drivers are also concerning topic. Wait till independent reviews before you make such statements.
The '70 cards have always been what I've gone for. Best bang for buck. I started with 670 in my stupidly large full tower build, replaced it with a 1070 when the 670 died and now I'll be going with the 3070 for itx build... as soon as parts are available :|
Yo, i was really waiting for you to this! Thank you so much! But the downside is, you didn't include the testbench for Premiere Pro which you always do before :/ still, a solid review from you as always! I'm depending my decision from your review if i'm gonna buy this soon or just stick with my current GPU haha
Ali, I have such appreciation for the work you do... Is there another way that I can support? Do you have a patreon or a membership that I can sign up for to support you more than just clicking the subscribe button and liking videos?
Hopefully I can get one for my pc with a gtx 960 in it right now, I have my eyes on the evga XC3 design since I'm putting it in a NZXT H1 case. I haven't seen any other 3rd party designs that could comfortably fit in my case.
Regardless of the fact that I have an NZXT H1, I'm going to get the RTX 3070. Thermals might be higher compared to other cases, but I can't miss the opportunity to get a $500 GPU with that much power.
I got 2070 laptop with i7-10750, runs at max settings with 200+ fps 1080p (yes 300hz display)... Will get through my college for 5 yrs for software engineering 🙃 and simple game development.... Will get Nvidia 5000 series after college 😂
WTF Ali, where are the noise normalised tests? Noise level wasn't mentioned once and that's one of the key values I look for in your reviews haha Are the fans also passive fanless under 60 degrees on the FE card?
It feels like a steal, but in reality, the whole 2000-debacle has helped nVidia push up prices for the x70-class cards by $120 over two generations and make it feel affordable. Well played.
I managed to purchase a rtx 3070. I'll probably stick with Nvidia since I managed to get one. If i wasn't able to get one, I'd probably try to snatch up a 6800xt.
Thanks for the great review. Your content is just so good to look at. I cant wait to see some videos about the water blocks for these cards. BTW drop us a hint if EK has given you any FE blocks to test ;)
Thanks for another awesome review. Looks like i'll be holding on to try and score a 3080 to shove in my ghost s1 as soon as it comes available, assuming AMD doesn't come flying out of left field with a monster gpu
I know u said on the video that thermal performance in sandwich cases will be bad but will you be testing the thermals of the 3070 FE in SFF cases like the GS1? Literally the only 30 series GPU that fits on the GS1 is the 3070 and 3080FE, all the others are above 2 slots even the 3070 from board partners.
Probably will be for 5-10 seconds... vs the insta-out of stock of the 3080. You're better off anyway. AMD will deliver this generation... it's the reason nvidia canceled the 16gb and 20gb versions of these cards. They know they're already going to be beat by AMD at their current price points... and releasing higher gb cards just won't sell.
Can't wait to see how scalpers will price the RTX 3070 on Ebay, because in the UK you can pick up a RTX 2080 TI for £770 or £600 if you trade a GTX 1070 TI towards it, at Cex.
most stores mark it up so its not really 500... cheapest here were about €620 and that is Euros.. Go figure.. You were able to buy one a little easier I think, since Im pretty sure they stayed in stock for 10 minutes or so. Glad I got my 3080FE for the MSRP of €720
dang, very nice! could you give us a look at the PCB soon please? it looks like its TINY. like 170mm or so. perfect for an ITX build with a waterblock.
@@kaizen1723 yeah, since the system is almost identical to the 3080 and there are lots of reviews out there that the H1 gets hot with the 3080, it's unfortunately not possible
Nice to see my 1080 still in the charts here, lol. Might upgrade to a 3070ti or 3080ti depending on which one is better values. I’m in no rush tbh, hahaha
whatever card that actually becomes available first between the 3070, 3080, and 6800xt will be fine with me. They all seem worth it. It's just a matter of them being in stock. 3070 would be ideal for me though since it's the cheapest, great at 1440p, and can utilize dlss
Who ever owns a 2080ti would be pointless to upgrade to an rtx 3070 card becsuse they are pretty much the same card If you are using it strictly for gaming. I would say the 2080ti would still be a better card as it has 11gb vs 8gb of vram. But the price point of 500$ on the 3070 vs 1200$ on the 2080ti thats just insane. I feel bad for all the 2080ti owners who ditched out all that money on there card and then nvidia releases the same performance card for 500$. I hope tomorrow AMD cards can compete with Nvidia.
Very nice review OT, it's compact, clear, and you go straight to the point, which is benchmark, comparison, ray tracing performance and DLSS. I prefer your review to a lot of other channel. Keep up the good work ! 👍
Update: 3080 TI's are back in stock at MSRP, you can snag a 3080 on eBay for roughly a thousand, 3070s you can get for like 7 to 800. I have a 3070, it's fantastic, I play at 4K, the 3080 TI will get you roughly 20 more FPS at 4K, for over twice the price. I'd say look on eBay for a 2080 TI if you play at 4K or 1440p just for that extra vram, no point in getting a 3080 TI spending over $1,000 where the 4000 series is right around the corner, but if you really need a gpu, I'd say a 30-70 would do it for now, if you turn down anti aliasing and shadows you could easily get over 120 FPS at 4K in most games
They do this kind of chain setup where the 2080Ti (really expensive where most enthusiasts with no wallet bottleneck will still buy into), and then the next gen they release 3070 (because they know people will compare it to the 2080Ti for this illusive pricing scheme, making them feel like they can touch the sky for half the price). It's a win-win situation for Nvidia, up next is RTX 3090, people that spend $1500 right now, they will be happy with it, and then when RTX 4000 series come or let's just say RTX 3000 Super series come, the RTX 3080 Super is going to have same performance but 10GB VRAM still as RTX 3090 for the price of $699, people are going to be so happy about it and Nvidia only have to put 10GB VRAM chip on the PCB.
How do you use Intels igpu for rendering with dedicated GPU installed in the system because I noticed removing DGPU from system gives a boost in rendering with igpu
Finally got a 3070 for retail. $549 ($600 after tax) for Gigabyte OC. I could have got a MSI card earlier but it wouldn't fit my SFF. It was too tall. Sold my 5700XT reference for $450. A $150 upgrade. Not bad. I should have sprung for a 3080... Ah well.
And maybe a perfect timing to update the video introduction see 0:44 with a new version showing GPUs of Nvidia 30series on the right and an AMD Big Navi card on the left after the big announcement.
Remember how VRAM-Bottlenecked the GTX 700-Series came to be over the course of 8th-Gen? 780 Ti 3GB? Remember the GTX 900-Series? 6GB on the 980 Ti and it's still killer. My point is that Ampere may be powerful, but if you're looking to build a one-and-done PC to last you the whole 9th-Gen console cycle, either Big-Navi or RTX-4000-Series is the way to go. Don't waste your money on the supposed 2080 Ti killer.
So basically, buy a RTX 3070 if you want a really good Workstation card that can outperform previous gen in 3D Workloads and handles itself well in video editing work loads, buy a RX 6900 XT if you just want to game for less than the RTX 3090 and want higher performance in 4K I think I'm happy AMD revealed the RX 6900 XT, as that means Scalpers will be less keen on the RTX 3070 than on the RX 6900 XT
I wonder if you could make a custom heatsink to make it ITX size. Deshroud, cut down the sink and make it single fan. I think ITX cards are 170mm. Make it fit a Velka case.
@optimum tech share the love with all the SF750 PSUs. “One random subscriber will win a Ncase M1 and a SF750 to start their Mini ITX build” =D do it and make us proud! Those PSUs are just impossible to get stock of lol
nVidia: "Raytracing is great! Just look, if you want to use it in the currently best implementation (Control), you can (almost) do it in 100 fps at 1440p, as long as you (upscale from a lower resolution) use DLSS. Oh, but you'll need a 3090, and those are easy to find and cheap, right? I mean, I have two in my workstation, don't you?"
I have to say if ppl are dumb then its not the companies mistake to make use of it. The top range xx80 ti cards had a MSRP aroung 600 bucks, sometimes 650. With the hilariously shitty 2080ti they raised the MSRP to 1000bucks with a little supply making it difficult to get. This lead to a point where ppl got used to these prices. Now, the prices came down a bit but there is a catch. As you heard in the video „the midrange 3070 ...“ costs (MSRP) 500bucks. Essentially making it almost as expensive as the usual xx80ti prices. They essentially achieved to bring ppl to accept these prices for a mid range GPU. Genius tbh the same as Apple, when ppl are dumb you have to make profit of it.
i am getting worried about the power consumption. Games becoming more gpu hungry without too much reason. (visually most newer games are not that much nicer in the graphical part compared to games from a year or so back, yet they require better gpu's for 60-ish fps counts) It's a weird world.. energy pricing going through the roof, yet entertainment industry thinks it's non existent. You would think, manufacturers try to get more bang out of each watt consumption instead of lowering it. The latter means, lesser bang out of each watt consumption, aka higher consumption requirements for newer cards. e.g. my 1050TI card from years ago, a budget card, still works quite well for most newer games (yet not set on high or ultra, but medium or medium/low settings at 1080p), with an average fps of 28 to 40, depending on the game. but the watt usage on average is just 75 watt. think about that for a moment or two.. if they would advance in that territory, i bet ndivia or amd could do a 75 watt card that could outperform a 3070, by smart design and such.. it won't be easy, but i think they can, but won't for easy production, or something.
This is perfect! I have a 165 Hz 1440p monitor and I play lots of F1 2020, will be amazing with ultra settings and 160fps! Currently using R9 270x so will be a huge leap!
i feel like this looks nicer than then 3080 design(cooler). also that price is just so good. i know ps5 is around the corner, but why not get both when you dont have to choose one
i don't know how people can say that this shit is good with that price tag. It comes with only 8gb, we had 8gb of vram in 2015 with the R9 390 for 330 bucks and than in 2016 with the RX 470 for 200 bucks. You can get a console with the same performance as a complete system for less money.
