I bought a moddiy 4 pin adapter and plugged them all in, no overclocking on a 1000w PSU. Haven't had a single issue and I did a check of the port and cable at 2 weeks and 4 weeks. I have the same case (P600s) and will say with a moderate bend to the adapter, it does barely touch the glass.

@@kr00tman I bought the C-series Pro ModMesh 12VHPWR black with white cable. Other than the plastic cable shroud over the connector being a bit flimsy, the build quality is exceptional. I’ve checked the connector a few times since purchase, no issues. I’m probably going to get the 90 degree connector when it launches, since the cable comes really close to the front of my case.

I bought the vertex gx-1200 and will use the supplied 600w connector. They recommend in the box to not bend the first 35mm close to the connector of both side, the one connected to the power supplied and the side connected to the graphic card. I don’t know depending of the case if the graphic card is in a pci e motherboard slot if there is enough clearance for 35 mm. But it should.

Thank you bro, only a question: I've an RTX 4090 Suprim X to install and I've the Corsair cable 600 W that you use in this video, if I connect it can I overclock the GPU? I've a Corsair HX1000i. So my PSU is KruX Generator 850W Gold. I bought it a month ago. Let’s say I get 4080/90 and it comes with 3x8pin adapter. My PSU is capable of 4x8pin. I’m gonna use the power adapter that comes with GPU and use 3x8pin individual cables and it should be fine? What if there is 4x8pin plugs in my adapter? hello so my question is that, I bought a Corsair hx850 80+ platinum psu because im planning to upgrade to a rtx 4080 which needs 3 8 pin cables, when the psu arrived I found out that it only has 2 separate 8 pin pcie cables with daisychains at the end of each, is it ok for me use 1 cable daisychain and 1 separate 8 pin pcie cable? or do I need to upgrade my psu again. PS, I dont get corsair, the older version of the Hx850 had 3 separate 8 pin pcie cables with daisychains so why did they change it now to only having 2 separate 8 pins, and the other kicker for me is that this PSU has 3 4+4 EPS power cables instead of 2 like what the hell is up with that?

Atx 3.0 will come with a cable that will work with your 4090 and it will be raited to work safely with it. Just make sure you look up the reviews on the psu

What happens if I plug it in like this 6:53, does it burn the graphics, or does it shut down, or can it be done but it is not advisable? I am going to buy a 4090, my psu is 850w but only has two 8 Pin cables (6+2) and both cables have that protrusion (not really what it is called) however, if I get to connect it like that will something bad happen?

I can't really agree with the 3 = 4 statement. If the extra PCIE cable would not make sense, they wouldn't have put it. But let's assume that you have a 850w PSU and you don't OC, so the 3 cables would suffice the purpose. I would still use the 4 cables adapter just for the sole purpose of distributing less power on each PCIE cable, therefore putting less stress on the adaptor and the 4 PCIE cables. If your GPU takes up 400W, wouldn't the wattage per PCIE cable be 100W with 4 cables instead of 133W with 3 cables? And if this assumption, which is more like a technical intuition is wrong, please correct me, because I'm in the position of using either the 2 PCIE to 16pin 12VHPWR cable that came with the PSU (Seasonic Prime TX 1600) or the 4 PCIE adaptor that came with the graphics card (rog strix oc 4090). Right now I opted for the Seasonic 2xPCIE cable, but the gpu does not go higher than 460w even when pushed with oc. This alone makes me wonder if I shouldn't have used the 4x adapter that came with the gpu instead. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my video! So to respond to your first point, Msi at least (im not sure about the other aibs as I don't own their models, adapter wasnt a 4 pin, it was a 3 pin. To your 2nd point the plug is a smart plug which means it regulates how much power can pass through each cable, The atx 3.0 psus are designed to handle the full load via the new cables, and if your using the 4 pin adapter (with all 4 pluged in) its designed to take up to the max of 400 watts. As far as using the cable or the adapter, I use both, ( have a corsair adapter for my msi 4090, and I use 3 of the 4 pins on my founders in my other gaming pc) I can tell you the difference for me at least is only ascetic's, so its basically personal choice either or will work just fine. I also dont oc either of my 4090s, both are plugged into 850 watt psus. I hope this helps!

(This melting issue has been around for AWHILE I know it doesn't answer your question but more than likely if you bought it from amazon at this point they won't give you a cable that would potentially melt. BUT you can always ask the manufacturer. Sorry I don't know the answer) ;-;

I want to see how the psu pcie cables are connected, is it 4 single separate cords plugged into a psu then to the adapter, so the psu would need at least 4 pcie gpu females dedicated to the 4 seperate cables into the adapter, I have the strix 4090, and am a bit confused by the psu proper connection and do not want to do it wrong, I just need the psu cable visual reference.

I see, thank you for the clarification, I'm working on upgrading my razer lian li 011d mid tower, the strix 4090 broke me, so I was forced to get a used hx1200 and a used h150i corsair 360mm to replace my loop to have the room, I'm terrified of the used psu more than anything as its used and its size, the wiring is also a mess as it's a cyberpower pc... its gonna be my first time hands on with wiring, luckily I believe my extensive research and learning is enough to build pretty much anything now with better cable management than the "pro wiring" they offer, I'm so terrified of the psu killing my pc, but my budget is extremely tight with virtually no room to spoil myself again for a good while, I'm gonna test it first on a much cheaper build with a 1660 gpu before I throw it in my premium non premium wired build. Quick edit, the 1660 I guess wouldn't be a proper way to test it lol

Where do you get that 3 plug connector from? Got a Corsair HX1200w power supply, but not interested in overclocking, but still... using it for AI workload, not gaming. So yeah there would be a reason to overclock it for AI, but I don't need it. Would rather it ran all day without issue than be a cheetah in bursty mode.

Why did you skip the step where you solder the plug to the card? That's an important step, as it helps the connectivity and prevents the plug from accidentally slipping out of the socket.

Hey man can I please have your help? I picked up an ASUS tuf 4070ti and it’ll be here tomorrow. I currently have an ASUS tuf 3060ti and it consumes more power than the 4070ti. I have a 650w power supply. Will that be enough to power the card? Also I’m very worried about my cable melting from what I’ve seen online. The ASUS tuf has 2x8 pin connectors that come from the 12vhpwr. Am I able to use my cable extensions to plug into it or do I have to use the stock Corsair cables from my psu to the cables? I have cable extensions like I said. Will it hurt my pc if I used stock cables within the 12vhpwr but still had my cable extensions in my cpu/mb? Sorry if it’s confusing

check out my 4070ti install guide, 650 should be just fine, as far as cable extensions, i am not an expert on those, but if you have a 4070ti that has a 12vhpwr cable id look to buy new ones that work with it, otherwise using your normal cables should be just fine

@@kr00tman Hey man. I put the card in the other day and the performance is insane! I’m not able to put my tempered glass on my case because it’ll bend the cord too much. Is it normal for the base of the cord to get kinda warm? Just making sure.

With CableMods 3x8 cable , power at 110 percent , 500 watts easy, more heat and noise, and not needed at all for everyday use , I love benching new hardware for my channel , that's the only time I OC .

Im sorry - Did you mean you NEED ONE OF EACH 8 ping . so 3 separate for each peice into the 3 adapter that they give to you? . In the video I see you have a 3 to 1 cable which to me, is a 8x 3 cable cord that has 6 pins. SO you are ONLY using one cable . Can you correct me if i am wrong.

@@kr00tman Well the table on the website is bit confusing but what I gathered from it that all the PCI-E cables are the same with Type 3 and 4 PSU so type 4 PCI-E cables are compatible with Type 3 PSI (my AX860i). 12VHPWR cable is type 4 PSU ( for example; Corsair AX1600i ) cable, which technically means is also compatible with my PSU which is Type 3 PSU, right?

did you put 3 plugs in the psu? or did you leave 2 plugs (just like before) and connect it in 3 plugs? as they are 288 watts, seems like we dont need to plug 3 in psu, we get over 550 watts with two connections. ps. careful with your lighting while shooting video mate. it is hard to see the connection mount, too dark.

thanks for the suggestion, if using no adapter I plug all 3 into the psu, as thats the min needed to get the 4090 to power on

I have the Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090. NVIDIA says I need at least three connections. Thermaltake includes a single cable to go from the PSU to the GPU and says it'll be fine.
