Brake into corner: oversteer Turn into corner: oversteer Mid corner: oversteer Accelerate out of corner: oversteer Bumpy road: oversteer Drive in a straight line: oversteer At least it's predictable.
It's an 80's 911. Oversteering everywhere is common trait and has to be adopted in to your driving style if you really want to give it the beans . All older 911's feel the same in that the front can feel quite vague and light and you just have to trust it will grip. Once you get over that, they are the greatest driving machines ever.
@@Lazerus2008 you hit the nail on the head. I had a 1988 911 Carrera Targa and it's true. Once you knew the cars characteristics, I think one would be hard pressed to name a better car providing a better driving experience. This driver looks like he is fighting the car, but in reality the car is giving him all the information he needs to correctly drive it. Hard to explain, but when my driving got spirited on twisty country back roads, I could feel the road through the steering wheel. Every bump, curve, pebble, you name it. And the car just gave me the confidence I wasn't going to eat it. Mine was just a regular 911 3.2 G50 short throw, hardly anything like this RUF, but his driving looks so familiar to me like when I would get on mine.
It's very good but Ari Vatanen's Pikes Peak climb is the paragon of car videos. Cliff on one side, huge rocks on the other, dirt road, 880 kg 600hp Group-B Peugeot. Pure awesomeness. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UEuZG37gFdM.html

counter steering every corner. insanity. maybe he has to counter steer because of the trailer he is hauling behind him. the trailer hes using to haul his massive ballbag..
euroaaRON1 or also if you have any education whatsoever on rwd 911s you would know that a great majority of them tend to oversteer due to the engine being in the rear.
@@obi-wankenobi7160 wow. I realized I loved Porsches alot last year and took it a bit too far. Thanks for checking me pal I was a dick back then, this isn't some shit id say now, because i drive a honda and I can honestly enjoy the driving experience. But ill go along with the lawnmower jokes 😂
Aahh the full video, with probably the best picture quality I've seen yet. Thanks, to this day I can't decide between this or 'climb dance' as the best on board of all time, I just know the two of them make everything else look boring! So amazing.
Anyone that thinks you can drive fast with one hand on the wheel needs to watch this video. Thanks for posting this. I bought this on VHS from RUF back in the late 90s and wore the tape out.
this video is the reason I love motor sport except F1. I was 12 when I first seen this. it's the best driving I've ever seen. it was a special occasion when it was on TV as nobody had the Internet then.thank you RUF.
Grandios ! Nachdem vor über 10 Jahren die kurzen Clips schon zu Recht gefeiert wurden, freu ich mich nun tierisch über die vollständige Aufnahme !! Ganz großes Kino !!
All this and no flappy paddles... His footwork must be outstanding! There isn't a single part of this video where he isn't fighting the car. It's car control on an immense scale!
+Phanthomaas This thing could go sideways through corners faster than most everything going through straight...not to mention it had the stupendous amount of horsepower for that straight-line speed.
@@MmpM123YT inb4 I know this is 2 year old comment but.. That's half the truth. No, drifting is NOT faster than grip unless it is classic 4 wheel drifting where countersteering is kept to absolute minimum. If this video WAS the record lap itself, I am sure he could have gained so much valuable time in places where he decided to go full sideways and smoke the tires, especially slow ones like T13, Adenauer Forst, Wehrseifen, and Ex Mühle. Grip might seem slow and boring but it gives so much more exit speed; its just facts. In other fast corners, he is just frantically trying to keep the car as straight as possible.
+Cian Ha He does on the first Lap shown, for sure. I think he just wanted to get rid of the surplus Profil on his tyres..... Either that's the reason for his drifting or he does it (what we shouldn't forget) because it's a promotional Video :) Anyway it's incredible!
OMG this video gets my heart pumping every time I see it! Edit: Also, as he passed people, makes you wonder how many people were thinking "Well, I will see that squirmy Porsche totaled on the next curve because that guy is pushing WAY too hard".....
The Z dimension of the track is better represented in this video than on modern HD ones. Video games and HD video make things flat, but there are more hills than that in real life.
This guy deserves a medal for predating Vaught Gittin JR. with Drifting The Ring. And this guys car ain't even setup for drifting! Let alone this guy drifted more meters then Jr. ever did in his video while using less tires. Good lord.

That's awesome! I wouldn't say it looks hard to drive, it looks like it's very wieldy & chuckable, gives great driver feedback, but it does look like it doesn't suffer fools at all. You want to get in one of those and wring its neck, you'd better know what you're doing. This is a car that could bite you so HARD if you get in over your head.
Old video of a great car. RUF is to Porsche as Cobra is to Ford or AMG to Mercedes. Saw this for the first time at a Porsche Club event and one of the two RUF brothers was there narrating his brother's wild drive. At conclusion, there were open questions. The first was one of the richer guys who just asked how much and some big price was mentioned along with waiting times. The second question was why he let his brother drive without a helmet. He responded "Well, he's just the marketing guy!". I seem to recall about 9 deposit checks were written that day. And, yes, current 918s and 919s go faster and smoother but - God awmighty - there's NOTHING more exciting than seeing that CTR slide sideways into the turns!
Sorry but Ruf was founded by Alois Ruf and his son, Alois Ruf Jr. He had no brother. Also, the car was driven by Stefan Roser who is definitely not a marketing guy...
All I know (as did my friend attending the event) was Alois Jr was the speaker/presenter and he referred to his brother. The factory test driver was not his brother, but loved to jump in and blast through the old Ring. If my memory is faulty or Alois was reimagining his childhood, I stand corrected. However, you perhaps did not "get" the thrust of this RUF vignette written a year plus ago without comments. It was a Porsche lover talking fondly about one of RUFs greater variations of one of their cars. You were the guy in my fifth grade class who reminded the teacher he'd forgotten to give out the homework assignment aintcha? :-)

The car must have needed a new set of boots after the lap. And never was the nickname for Stefan Roser(Dr Drift) so apt, but always had control of the car. What a great video.
That car and track are so unforgiving!!!! The 911 is and will always be my favorite car on the planet. And that track is the probably the best track out there. Iv'e never been but did a ton of reading and watching. Some of the best drivers in the world have lost it on that track. I would love to take my competition 325 XI on there and see what it does. It's all H&R and powerflexed out!
Back when men were men and tyres and suspension hadn't been invented! Unfortunately not may exterior shots but when you see them the slip angles are unbelievable!
