I grew up in the uk and played rugby until I was 16. When my family moved to America the place I lived in didn’t have a rugby program so I played American football. What I found out that most people can’t tell by just watching a video is the distance people are running full speed at each other. I thought an average rugby tackle hurt until I got hit in football. I didn’t know I would have to take a hit from someone twice my size while we both just ran straight at each other with about 14 meters between us to get up to full speed. It only took one practice to understand why they wear pads
@@fordastreeets8019I wanna see someone attempt fundamental rugby tackling with no pads on Bo Jackson in his prime. Best have an ambulance on standby cuz Bo knows they don’t want that smoke.
American football is more dangerous and gets hit much harder, but that doesn't mean it is better than rugby, try watching American football and it is boring, watch a rugby match up to amateur level and it is more entertaining and dynamic. By the way, American football derives from rugby, and soccer is the real football. Before it was a single sport rugby and soccer, then they separated it and you try to claim the term football for that sport xd
@@braianperez5292 I never said it was better though. They both have their good and bad points. I said it was harder, which is true. Between the offensive schemes and raw power involved in hits it's harder. Rugby takes MUCH more stamina though. Rugby is a slog where football is tactical strikes. I don't think either is better than the other. I prefer football but that's a preference is all.
By the way, the rugby world cup is being played, which is every 4 years, if you can, I recommend you to watch the matches, these next days the quarter finals will be defined, greetings and long live the oval ball of the two sports.@@dalehammers4425
I’m a little late, but saying that rugby players are more athletic is inaccurate. One study of a college football team and a pro rugby team found that the college football players on average bench pressed 160kg and squatted 235kg. The rugby players benched 140kg and squatted 190kg on average. Rugby players on average run a 40yard dash in 5.3 seconds compared to 4.74 seconds for college football players across all positions(including the slow offensive and defensive linemen). A list of the fastest rugby players in 2021 listed Sbu Nkosi as the fastest current rugby player with a 100m time of 10.59 seconds. Another website lists Sebastien Carrat as possibly the fastest rugby player ever with a 100m time of 10.34 seconds. Another website claims Trae Williams is the fastest rugby player in history with a 100m time of 10.10 seconds. The fastest current nfl player is Tyreek Hill, who ran a 9.98 second 100m in high school, which placed him in 2nd place 2 hundredths of a second behind future Olympic gold medalist Andre De Grasse. Anthony Schwartz, another current nfl player, ran 100m in 10.07 seconds. Jim Hines ran a 9.95 100m in the Olympics in 1968. Bob Hayes ran a 10.06 in 1964 to win an Olympic gold medal. In all the nfl has had 20 players run in the 100m or less and over 50 players run it in 10.30 seconds or less. Tyreek Hill also ran the 200m in 20.14 seconds, which would place no worse than 6th place in any Olympic games in history. The nfl combine record for the vertical leap is 116.84 cm. The broad jump world record was set at the nfl combine in 2015 at 372.75cm. Jumping doesn’t really seem to be a thing in rugby. Lastly, you assumed that rugby and nfl players hit with the same force. A study concluded that rugby players hit with an average of 10g’s of force. Nfl players hit 250% harder with an average of 25g’s of force. Most nfl players take hits in the legs and mid section where there are few to no pads. Most of the padding centers around the shoulder area, but it’s not for the reason most people think. The shoulder padding allows nfl players to hit even harder without the risk of separating their shoulder. In most cases the padding protects the person delivering the hit more than the person being hit. Please don’t get me wrong, I liked the video. I just wanted to correct some of the things you said. Also, if you want to get a true grasp of nfl players athleticism I would suggest checking out nfl’s most athletic plays, nfl defying gravity, or nfl ankle breaking jukes. I think they’re all by ding productions
5.3 seconds is slow. There are 300lb linemen that run faster than that. I never realized how slow the game was until that stat. High school position players running that slow wouldn't be accepted into college.
@@dalehammers4425 I don’t know if I’d say most 300+ lb linemen, because the average D-tackle 40 is 5.06, but that said they are over 100lbs heavier than the average rugby player, and twice as strong all the while still running faster. Every once in a while you do get a freak of nature like Jordan Davis who’s 340lbs and runs a 4.78 40.
1) Got a source? 2) Let's assume that you're right for a second, and just admit that the only reason that these oompa loompa's are able to do that to each other is because they wear pads. Give me some pads and I'll mow down a bunch of people too no worries. with the added technique I've learned from 20 years of Rugby.
@@BiIboSwaggins Well I call bs. Rugby and Football have different tackling rules. Hell, they have different rules in general. The games may be similar since fb was based on it. But the games are essentially different. You trained to grab and slam ppl in the most efficient and dominant. Fb players train to just smash u in the most efficient and dominant way. All within the rules of the respective sports. If a fb player played rugby then they would most likely get their asses kicked due to the dif training and rules. It's the same for rugby. Your making the claim that u hav enough talent and accumulated skill to literally dominate in a completely different sport. So what ur saying is that u will be able to use ur skills to dominate in Basketball and baseball as well? Or maybe ur kicking skills will make u a great soccer player as well? Don't make bullshit claims like that. It makes u look stupid and sound like an attention whore. As for my source. Look it up yourself. It's very easy to find, unless all the head injuries fucked u up worse than i thought.

One day when your testicles drop you'll see how much more skill and hits go into the NFL. Tons of rugby guys tried to enter the NFL and couldn't take the pounding.
Rugby is a rough sport, no doubt. But in rugby the average g-force on a hit is about 20--25 g's. In football that average is between 50-60 g-forces. That's because of the size, speed and incredible athleticism of the athletes playing in the NFL. You won't be able to react to it, but watch video's of the NFL Combine's, which is where, every year, the best players from American colleges go through tests and reaction skills to show their worth. These are some of the best athletes in the world. When you see a bunch of guys over 136 kg's run 36 meters in under 5 secs you'll get an idea of the g-force that size and weight would feel like when it connects. Plus many of the running backs and receivers in football are world class sprinters, some doing 36 meters in under 4.3 seconds. A few under 4.2 seconds. Rugby is a tackling sport. Rugby is a lateral sport. Football is a collision sport. Football is a north/south sport, where guys run directly at each other full speed. If you want an example to test at home, buy or rent some American pads and a helmet, put them on, run full speed into a brick wall, then tell me how you feel.

@@braianperez5292 It's wonderful child that you've finally caught up to the history of these sports. Something I've known about for more than 20 years now. Welcome to the club. The reason you find football boring is because you're unaware of the incredible and complex strategies involved. Something soccer will never have. Perhaps you should investigate the fact that most teams have upwards of 4 to 500 plays, a playbook larger than dictionaries, all done with absolute precision, in order to advance the ball even a yard. Each player has specific responsibilities and movements on each play. Every QB has to know not only every play, but every defensive play, all of the players strengths and tendencies on the field, where every player should be, how to master the many different kinds of throws, how to master the 3, 5 and 7 steps back (each precisely the same every time) and so much more then, you know nothing of the sport. You should also find out why football demands the biggest, strongest, fastest, and most athletic people in the world in order to play it. Because a caveman first invented the wheel doesn't mean he could build and drive a car.
that's true, it would be like a rugby type of chess, very good. Similarly in soccer or rugby, they also have their strategies and too many, you should also see it, only it is not so short to go choosing, you have to change the strategy of the game at the time or after halftime. I'm sorry for being so aggressive in the previous comment, it was a moment of madness hahaha cheers and long live the sport! @@helgar791
@@braianperez5292Well, you're entitled to your opinion, even though those who really no both games, would disagree, by the millions. Some like checkers, and millions like chess.
Rugby hits aren’t as hard. Sports Science did a Rugby vs US Football video. Average hard rugby hit is 1200 pounds of force vs the average NFL hard hit being 4800 pounds of force. You don’t get 2 people running head on from 30 yards apart in rugby.
American football came from rugby and soccer. The snap replaced the scrum. You were then given 3 tries to get 5 yards (this 5 yard markings) which evolved into 10 yards (10 yard lines) and if not achieved possession of the ball was forfeited. Scoring system then changed. All of this was without pads or helmets. And tackling below the waist was introduced. This changes resulted in an extremely violent game with injuries and deaths being common. Eventful it resulted in 19 deaths causing the president to warn the schools to modify the game or it would be banned. Multiple rules were introduced to prevent fighting and injuries including a neutral line (space between the teams at the snap), and then the leather helmet and pant stuffing. American football has been more violent than rugby from its onset and the protective gear is a result of how dangerous the game was.
I think what a lot of people tend to not realize is that the pads aren’t there cause it makes it less painless, it’s so people don’t die or get VERY seriously injured😭
American football is a collision sport, not a contact sport. You run as fast and hard as you can to hit with all you have. Then catch your breath as you line up to go again. You will break bones, you will get concussed, and you will shorten your life. Still a lot of fun while on the field.
You train in pads which means you get comfortable with them. You learn to run faster and hit harder. I’ve play from peewee to high school pads don’t do shit when 2 people are running full speed at each other. The forces during impact are nearly the same as a car crash, “The most severe hits were recorded at around 120G, which is approximately the amount of forced associated with a severe car crash. It is not unusual for a player to endure one or two hits of this magnitude during the course of a game.”
Rugby is what we in the USA who are not big or strong enough or fast enough play in the streets but with football rules some rugby players have played in the NFL they are barely good enough to make the teams
All you have to ask a rugby fan is: NAME A RUGBY PLAYER WHO HAS WON AN OLYMPIC MEDAL FOR A TEST OF SPEED OR STRENGTH. Now google American footballers with the same question. NO CONTEST!
Rugby players aren’t running full speed and colliding into each other like they are in American Football. They tried playing American football with no padding and people died. Even with the padding there is a huge issue right now with players having serious brain damage.
You don't understand that some of these hits would kill you without pads. There have been many Rugby players who have tried to make it in the NFL but they have all failed. You said American football players do not know how to tackle but we use a much more violent style of tackling. Wrapping your arms around another player is not required. The objective is to hot the other player as hard as you can. Everyone on the field can be hit at anytime not just the person with the ball. You are not ready to play American football.
@@SilasMustFall no we are actually taught to tackle properly . you just watched a video of big hits "that are mostly penalties " ... You should probably watch football as a whole before you pass judgement my guy. You wouldn't last of course because yeah the whole being soft thing, but yeah don't talk ish if you never tried it. See before us Americans get old enough to suite up we play football in our back yards. Without pads the same way y'all play touch rugby. We are just built different and don't whine as much . it's okay tho you can be soft as you want to...
@@SilasMustFall see and there you go without doing your research🤔... See here in America most of us play American football without pads. We do this shit for fun/ traditional reasons..... Like holidays and So on, So basically we play rugby just without soft rules. My main point was to tell you we know how to actually make a forum tackle . your a person who reacted to American football and never did any actual research ! hate all you want my guy. That's why we will beat y'all in every and I mean every aspect of everything! . stop being soft my guy. Just understand some of us are gladiators and some of us are just towns people. You watch and we do.!Oh and plz don't say well do you play in the NFL, because no I don't but I did play from grad school, to high school and college.
Rugby has more endurance, but their hits are pathetic compared to this. Rugby doesn't even play in blizzards, fog or hurricanes! Let me know when people start dying in rugby! Sorry, I meant handegg!
@@SilasMustFall u know the reason american football has pads and protection is because roosevelt enforced them after 18 players died in just 1905 and 45+ players died from 1901 to 1905 + american football players are bigger and stronger than rugby players
@@SilasMustFall There are Austrailian rules rugby players who have been in the NFL and they found out really fast that why they wear padding in the NFL. They hit like a fucking truck in the NFL. One of the biggest hits, ever, in the NFL was made by Chuck Bednarik on Frank Gifford. He knocked him out cold and Gifford missed the entire next season because of it.
It's not like all these hits are particularly well known. I've watched Ravens football since the beginning and that Ray Lewis hit doesn't even stand out. I've seen him hit a lot harder - many times.
Lol what y’all call rugby we call sandlot football or just simply a game of tackle, we did that from kids to forever. We do these same hits without the pads. The is in another level when it comes to power and speed.
Just saying, looking at playing between rugby and football, I would much rather get tackled in rugby. It is way safer and stricter cause of rules on how to tackle with form and stuff. Football is scary 💀💀 two players colliding at damn near full speed and sometimes one of them isn't aware of the other? Hell no. I don't want to get folded or sent flying
That mind set is why the rugby players that have tried to come over to football the majority have failed. You have to grown some balls and learn to take massive hits that shit just might end your career its name of the game.
you rugby fans always seem so cocky i looked up every rugby hardest hitting video i could find its high school level at best you guys always say they dont know how to tackle but your wrong they teach the same wrap up tackles that rugby does but the hits in these videos are different there not just trying to make the tackle there sending a message the message is there is a price to pay for running the ball or going over the middle you gotta put your body on the line so when a defender gets a chance to unload on someone they do it
I’ll put it like this look at the salaries. If you think rugby players can play football then what’s the holdup. Drastic difference in pay. Classic example of 💵 talks.
The reason why NFL players wear Pat is cuz if they didn't they could kill each other. It's the pad that makes them hit so hard if it wasn't for the pads they would hit like rugby players which is not much at all NFL athletes are better athletes Stronger Faster just all-around better than the average rugby player
As a person who played football I can say you practice proper tackle techniques everyday. And the hits in rugby aren't 2 250 lb men running full speed in opposite directions.
Rugby 🏉 is a good game and yes you have to be tough but don't get it twisted the greatest Rugby player couldn't make the 53man roster of the worst NFL team
nah that's the biggest cap imo and if AF players tried rugby it would be a whole different ball game. They have to learn how to pass, tackle by the legs or you'll get bounced and learn how to play a full 40 mins half without any stoppages. Seems worse than taking a bigger hit bc that's the only thing they have over rugby from my pov rn.
@@SilasMustFall that's just plain nonsense. Every player in the NFL can tackle and only the QB needs to know how to pass but all your watching is highlight clips. Rugby is not foreign to us almost every college has a team. The hitting and tackling rules have night and day differences. Wrapping the hands, no leaving your feet no shoulder first its a completely different game a 265lb linebacker running at you with 4.4 speed is like getting hit by a car. I do have to say the AFL makes rugby and the NFL look soft and please do your research many rugby players have tried out for the NFL and a couple have succeeded but only kickers
You are watching a biggest hits highlight video. You aren’t watching tackling. You should watch a video that explains the rules and take some notes. Then you should watch an entire game. Listen to the commentators because you can tell some stuff by how excited they get and they also will break it down sometimes. In this video some are illegal hits but most are legal. American football is an awesomely brutal and awesome sport but if you don’t know what you are looking at, then it looks worse than it is.
Without question, this is the dumbest reaction to this video. If you truly believe: 1) that you are in any way "protected" by the hel.et and pads, you are insane. They do NOT protect you, they WEAPONIZE YOU! It makes the hits even harder. 2) That NFL Players "dont know how to tackle, c'mon bro... grow up. What you are watching is ONLY some of the most violent hits in the NFL/College. This is an infinitesimal amount of the actual games and the real tackles that occur on every play. And if you do not beleive any of this, please, come to The States... I am 100% positive that just about any High School Team in the Country would be more than happy to lend you some pads and helmet, and then... Yeah. Just make sure you have insurance.😂😂😂
So I don't mind if you say rugby is better. It's a matter of opinion (I think both are stupid, but I accept it as it is). However, the truth is American football is brutal on the body. More so than Rugby. Americans are bigger, hit harder, and hit faster. The pads may spread damage, but it doesn't stop the g-forces you are hit by. You are starting and stopping faster which cause different types of internal injuries and concusions. American football has been compared to by scientists of being hit by 35mph (56 kph) cars. Now think of being hit like that mutliple times every game. These players aren't weak. They are fast, extremely strong, and extremely large.
@@SilasMustFall take into consideration that NFL players doing those jumps while wearing those pads and still being able to do it. After previously being hit by forces comparable to car crashes. Rugby players aren't anything to scoff at, but NFL players are on average far more athletic and it's just due to the nature of the game being played.
maybe they can endure more pain but in football your game stop every max 15 seconds so there's really such a big break if you add it all up, whereas rugby only stops for fouls and lineouts, it's one thing to take a big hit, but to take one then continue playing immediately for 40 minutes is a different type of athleticism
It's funny how it's always insecure rugby players who can't help, but shit on American Football because they can't wrap their head around that the sports while similar are vastly different as well.
Rugby is checkers.. American football is chess.. Rugby is a very simple sport and it has very strict tackling rules.. there is also no blocking or passing.. it's very boring.. it's the same thing over and over and over..
@@SilasMustFall How? There is blocking and passing in American Football... The tackling rules are you are not allowed to try to decapitate the opponent, and this is a recent development...
@@SilasMustFall I know this is an old video now but what is your accent? Your voice was really soft specially when compared to the audio from the video clip so I had a hard time hearing you, but I coulc understand you when I did hear you. I love rugby but it’s too damn slow and the hits aren’t nearly as hard as AFB. In AFB every play is at full speed and we pass vertically so we have more head to head match ups. 2 objects moving that fast and suddenly stopping is far more devastating than what happens in rugby. Sure u have an occasional hit stick in rugby but those are average hits in the nfl. Oh and moSt players in the nfl are world class sprinters able to reach over 22,23 mph…..imagine someone running at u that fast to hit u lol
I played football for 9 years. The pads do not stop the impact they stop bones from breaking sometimes. I saw broken arms necks and hips. In rugby I've seen broken arms and fingers mostly.they are allot more similar today though with some of the rules because brain damage is real. Along with the stress both athletes put on their bodies. We like to hold these guys up as the fittest but the reality is these kids get out of college early 20's with hearts of about 35 year olds and the brain damage doesn't get better if you keep up the contact. Check out bull riding sometime brother. It will genuinely shock you.
I got hit like the first guy. I got over 60 stitches from my lower lip to my neck. I got brain matter on the back on my skull. My face had to be screwed off.
It’s the collision of players at full speed. Not sure the argument of this guy. NFL is violent from 250 speedsters. Rugby is tough but a lot of hugging going on.
Trying to compare rugby to football should be a punishable crime… football has bigger hits, better athletes, more strategy, and a much higher skill ceiling that. Rugby is American football for people who lack the talent (or brains) to play the better game
Just curious , do you realize, most successful you tubers, get the majority of their subscribers from the US ? And it's normally not by knocking their favorite sport in the US. Not by degrading us, or failure to be polite as a U tube channel, or starting arguments , with the people who watch your reactions. Try keeping the negative to yourself, and we will do the same. Rugby is soft compared to American football. They really don't hit that much in rugby they tackle pull down. Plus American football players are stronger faster better athletes
Yeah there is and there are quite a large amount of rugby clubs also it’s just that they aren’t as popular as American football and basketball and baseball etc. Rugby in America is also high in demand💁🏿♂️
Rugby is boring and a lot of the action under or in the big pile (of dirty shirts and large calves and flailing feet) just isn't visible to the spectators. It's slow and lacks the attitude that makes some contact sports complete and exciting. I'm not a football (NFL) fan, I prefer Ice Hockey. Now there's a game with gratuitous violence . HAHA
Another for the here comes the boom video.other videos, mlb home plate collisions, biggest NHL fights, worst skateboard fails, bails and headslams. And this is the worst of the worst the vast majority of tackles are much tamer, also this is NFL but also college and high school.
