I have ordered my TC66 a month ago, didn't arrive yet but I paid $16.50 back then. Looks like a good usb monitor, excellent resolution and functions for USB-C, looking forward to receiving mine.

Yeah, it's super nice. You'll really like it. Especially since it supports protocols like USB-PD, Warp Charge over USB-C, etc.

in fact the trigger function is very easy 3.5.1 Trigger Operation: At this interface, press and hold K2 button to enter trigger menu, then Press K2 to page down to choose, after chosen, press K1 to enter sub-menu. At sub-menu, press K1 or K2 to begin trigger or adjust voltage. Press K2 back to last menu. Except for Huawei SCP and PPS, when other protocol exit trigger mode, they will keep the quick charging state, and re-plug the tester to be restored to the state of 5V. The current protocols supporting for trigger are QC2.0, QC3.0, HUWEI FCP, Huawei SCP PD2.0, PPS and SUMSUNG AFC. (This operation will make the type-c port output high voltage, please unplug the load when using this this function) or you can check this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SCVcSjDMx2g.html and you can show our other function ,APP, PC software, isolate power , update firmware ... there are many good function

Nice video. Would you happen to know if it's possible to use USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 devices with this tester via a simple Type-C-to-USB adapter. IOW could the TC66 be a holy grail universal tester, or us it explicitly limited to native Type-C devices. Thanks

I have the TC64, which is half the price but unidirectional, simple menus, and single screen. The bi-directional alone makes it worth extra $10 to get the TC66 and I would have gotten it instead had it existed when I ordered the TC64 a while back. I'll have to get one of these soon, the TC64 works but the additional functions will come in useful as more things move to USB-C. RD's LD25/25 and HD25/35 have USB-C inputs.

Adam, if choosing one, do you think UM25C is a better choice? Screen, functions, menu and also C type input. I don't see how a bidirectional ability is a must have

Thanks Adam. It's a bit small and fiddly, as you noticed, and some of those darker coloured figures are hard to read, but still a neat piece of kit. Don't trust the last digits in the display though. For example, from a random freeze frame, readings were 5.0184 V, 0.49563 A and 2.483 W. But do the maths. that should be 2.487 W. The indicated value is closer to 5.018 V x 0.495 A which is 2.483(9) W. So it's accurate to within 10 mW, ignoring any rounding in the final digit, and anything beyond 3 digits in voltage and current. It's still far better than any utility analogue meter, of course. I like it.

Hey Adam, it has 2 data banks, not 9. Haven't come across any firmware update capability via BlueTooth. It can be done in the Windows app. I've been working on my own video of the thing... You beat me once again to the scoop :)

Thanks for confirming. I’m surprised about the data banks - the previous ones had more. And sorry I published first. Let me know when yours goes live.

@@AdamWelchUK "data banks" ? You mean presets? Otherwise this implies to me that it does data-logging, which would be a good thing.
@dodge911
@dodge911 5 лет назад
@@AdamWelchUK No worries man :) The UM-series indeed had more, but the TC-series only has two (at least, going by this one and the TC64) If you want I'll send you a link so you can take a look, it'll take a couple of weeks until it gets published.

Thank you Adam for this great video. I've been looking for a solution where I can use one of these awesome little testers to test USB-C PD, but with custom loads, like you did with your "Playing with USB Power Delivery" video. I guess I can insert the USB-C PD Trigger you were showing in to one of these testers, but wanted to see if you have found one of these testers that would allow you to connect a full load tester rig to directly and allow you to switch the USB-C PD modes with the nice LED Displays. The PD Trigger's interface leave a lot to be desired. I know they have some USB load testers with fans, but they are very limited. It would be fantastic to be able to connect one of these testers to a full DC load tester.

Could the trigger feature be used to trick a cheap MPPT charge controller to think it is gets 18v at 2.0 amps from a PD power brick that supplies at least 36 watts? Just thinking about using a trigger like this to charge certain devices that are not USB-C. I think this would work but I was wondering if anyone has tried this

I;ve watched half a dozen videos trying to figure out if this thing can trigger 20V 5A PD mode. I wish someone would test it with suitable power supplies.

I got a DC converter USB, for up to 30 volts to 5v USB, it showed 8+ volts so I did not use it! Would that be safe for my phone?

These have horrible build quality. Just look at the slider switches on the side 13:55. The small pins are made of weak plastic and brake off by applying very moderate pressure. Typical cheap Chinese design, no product durability testing whatsoever before the release.
