I still miss these guys every day. Torchlight was my favourite series and my favourite Diablo-like.

Hob is beautiful. Enjoyed just being in that world and playing with the architecture.

Hob is a hidden gem. Absolutely enjoyed exploring the lost civilization and hunting for hidden secret upgrades.

Just finished Hob and loved every minute playing it. So sad to know Runic Games is no more and we'll never see a sequel.

I sank a lotta time into TL2, both solo and with a couple friends, and I loved Hob, to the point I've gotten every single trophy in the game. Thank you for making this documentary, I'll miss this dev studio's work.

Very nice video, I liked how the scenes were put together (artist was talking about her goofy tall characters > talks about the sound designer later > sound designer talks about creatures > tall goofy character was shown in the back). But the sound of your video was too quiet on my phone. The YT Ads were much louder and I had to use external boxes to hear everything clearly while having lunch.

The publisher deleted the studio and kept the rights to the series, had someone else make it

25:48 those 15 seconds... They seemingly had lost any good feelings for Torchlight after that prolonged crunch, but it didn't have to end like that :( Still play TLII sometimes, such a good game.

Developers have a lot of different stories about crunch, we've covered it a lot in our documentaries. Darksiders one was especially interesting.

I love TL 1 and 2. Hob is OK...Not super into it, TBH. I haven't played TL3 yet, the bed reviews are scaring me off.

Sad to say, I never really got into Torchlight as a whole. Back when D3 had me disappointed as hell and Wolcen had ages to go before it could get a chance to disappoint me, I gave Torchlight 2 a shot. It was better than TL 1, but it felt like the series needed a few more entries to get up to speed. Too few characters, too different an ambiance compared to its source material... regrettable, to say the least.

Oddly, I ended up liking Torchlight 2 more than Diablo? The difference in ambiance appealed to me more. Also I got to have a pet ferret with goggles, this is important to me.

@@RatchetSly Yeah, the pet and fishing mechanics were solid highlights of the game. I just came across it at an unfortunate time. D3 turned out to be not D2 and Grim Dawn was still new and buggy as anything...I just wanted my gothic grimdark fix. I think I should go over it again. Would you happen to know if they launched any expansions or dlcs to the core game?

They did not, although they added a tiny amount of mid-endgame content in the form of random portals. The multiplayer abilities and spells are really good and alter your playstyle drastically, so it's well worth trying both with and without a friend.
