Vanessa Reiser was love bombed by her narcissistic ex in such an extravagant manner--like being showered with expensive gifts, to expensive cars, to a $150,000 engagement ring, and travels across the world. She didn't have time to breathe, much less clock in the red flags happening left and right. Vanessa is a therapist and works hard today to raise awareness to narcissistic spousal abuse, and started a movement by running 285 miles across the state of New York to raise awareness to their cause. Listen and learn how Vanessa was able to come up for air, evaluate and understand her situation and how she separated herself from the man that first swept her off her feet.

Her days are spent supporting those traumatized by this insidious form of domestic violence.

My Mother was often told by others how lucky she is and they wished they had a husband like him. Little did they know what happened at home and how he almost killed her with a hammer.

I was so sick from the trauma bond I couldn't eat or sleep for months and lost 40lbs. My heart was racing and all I could do was deal with my panic attacks from the bed. After 20 years I was left with no idea who I was. The first 6 months were so painful.

I was in a narcissistic relationship for 2 years and was glad to get out in tact, there were very few resources back then, mostly just a couple of self help books. I read a book called women who love too much (women who love men, And the men who hate them, I believe was the description) the book was a big help for me back then. But what I didn’t realize, was that my 9 year old son was exposed to this sick relationship cycle. He is now in a very abusive marriage with a narcissistic woman. I never saw that coming!!! It grieves me that this has happened to him. I wish that there were more resources for abused men, I think there is extreme shame and confusion for them. I think there is an epidemic of narcissism on the rise these days.

Love this podcast! When Vanessa said that sense and understanding of her ex being INSATIABLE, I screamed yes!!!!! Narcissists are NEVER satisfied and no matter the hurt, inconvenience or unreasonableness of their request and it's impact on you, they still demand, request and feel entitled to more. It is maddening, incredibly harmful and makes no sense. It is only through experiencing this can anyone understand the damage they do. Never again! Thank you Vanessa and Dr. Romania for this conversation, and Dr. Romania this podcast series is treasured gold. Thank you!

I was experiencing a lot of verbal and psychological aggression, and I went to the DV program where I lived, and attended a group meeting. The others talked of violent physical abuse, and I left feeling ashamed of myself for believing I needed support when others were dealing with direct physical assaults. It took me many years to free myself. DV organizations can do better for those dealing with narcissistic abuse.

Thank you thank you Thankyou , doesn’t express my sincere appreciation for the two of you putting this out there , I’ve been trying to heal for one year now , and am stuck in the angry zone , at myself for allowing him to almost destroy me , this video hit a positive note , and I believe a turning point ! To listen to Vanessa explaining her experience with her narc , helped me to see , why I got caught up and fell for him ! I was trained from childhood to be a narcissists food ! My parents were both narcissistic, one covert one overt ! I didn’t stand a chance !iam just sorry it took me 70 years to figure this out ! But I needed to learn how to protect myself so thank you so very much to you both , I send you both a big hug of gratitude!💓💓

Love Bombing, just to clarify is NOT just fancy trips and expensive gifts. The last time I was love Bombed I had a serious surgery and this person showed up at the hotel during my recovery (at my weakest) with 10 dollar flowers. Then when I was allowed to go home he showed up at my front door with a mini Dominos pizza while I was in extreme amount of pain...then took offense to me not being "happy" and actually acted reactive and abusive without REALLY giving any thought to what I was going through. I was suffering? All he cared about was dating me? Or locking it down.

I am so grateful for this interview. Vanessa, you literally told my story, except that I was in a 25 yr relationship. Hearing this and hearing about the flying monkeys and my parents and sisters lack of support bc he always wore a mask, and how he manipulated my son from a different marriage but couldn't manipulate his own biologic son. The public mask is insane. No one would believe what I lived through based on his public image. Insane. Thank you, ladies! This did so much good for me. Incredibly, I feel heard and understood after listening to this interview. So grateful! 🙏✨

If i found such great role models and information you present here 30 years ago🌟. .better now than never So agree with comments about fallout .the legal system can be used, like a battering ram, to break you, harm your kids, career and everything important to you. It's hard not to see red when someone seems hell bent on vengeance and blowing up your life.

@17:15 is so important, because there is so much red pill content out here trying to convince women that they are wrong for leaving a marriage, because they are unhappy. And men stay married even when they are unhappy, and women are disloyal and don’t take their vows seriously. This is why sooooo many women stay in abusive marriages, and in narcissistic marriages. They believe it makes thems selfish or a bad disloyal woman to leave. It’s important for women to know that constantly feeling bad, anxiety and unable to communicate your feelings to your husband (or wife) ARE good enough reasons to end a marriage. It’s a sign of something much deeper going on.

It's so weird -- and this is so good, this interview -- that overwhelming someone is something that one WANTS, that it exists in the arts (and I am in that world), yet it occurs to me that a narcissistic relationship which features being overwhelmed is decidedly NOT the same as the proverbial hoped for overwhelm for artist and audience occuring in the arts/especially entertainment. And further, that overwhelming someone, even while being in the arts/especially entertainment, is only and ultimately not even close to having self-respect and self-discipline and mastery in this area of life (arts/entertainment). The running with the wedding dress on was, for me, a highly effective communication (consciousness raising) vis à vis a narcissistic relationship, with the abuse, and also this very cool performance art type of thing. 💪🖖🙏

My mother took my child (she is an adult) with the help of the ex-narc hubby, for no other purpose but to harm me. As bad as the physical beatings were.. I would rather have endured a lifetime of beatings compared to what my mother did to my head with her gaslighting & sadistic behavior. I will never be able to accept a woman can do such things. I know it is true, but it totally blows my mind. She studied all the self help books to recognize what her neglect did and the used all that info to slay me in my 40's and 50's.

I cannot run right now for very long. Running to catch a bus that shows up earlier than expected maybe only once in a while if carrying anything heavy too at the time. Like if I am almost 20 pounds overweight or whatever. So who do I believe when it comes to medical advice too when it comes to how much I weigh too? The neighbor who tells me I am not overweight? The family doctor who tells me I have perfect breasts just like what my mother's family doctor told her when she was the same age I am right now too? Or in another ony a hypothetical situation that some of us women might go through is say if some doctor of psychology online interrupts your online queries while watching videos on RU-vid to present yet another advertisement to you maybe a woman whom you used to attend college with is now offering you free instead life coaching sessions next too?

Female sociopaths are horrible! I feel like the level of deceit and vindictiveness goes a lot deeper than what a man do and probably has a lot to with men being more visual creatures that can be manipulated easier with seduction. Women, especially if they are on a empathic spectrum and vulnerable fall victim to sociopathic men.
