Me and my friend once played multiplayer with me as Russia and him as Brandenburg -> Prussia. He lost 80% of his territory in a coalition war, but recovered, took it all back, and proceeded to block me out of eastern Europe. In the inevitable war that followed, I attacked while he fought France and Austria, and I called in the Ottomans and a bunch of others. First, he occupied France ww2 style and imposed a harsh peace deal on them. Then he yeeted the poor Austrians, meanwhile the Ottomans were helping them. After the Ottoman army was reduced to a pile of scrap, he proceeded to take Istanbul and annexed it. While all of this was going on, my enormous army was trying its best to siege down Prussias ridiculous fort line of level 8 forts that he could somehow sustain. When the Prussian army arrived, I soon faced an Operation Barbarossa-style scenario, except there was never a battle of Stalingrad, so we were crushed. Lesson learned, never play against a player Prussia if you don't have at least two player majors to stop him. I have not let him play Prussia again ever since, I'm just too traumatized from that experience.
Its actually pretty easy to crush prussia as russia . You have much better snowball and by time he could even do something you can just annex teutons before his truce expires and this "sideway" wont hurt you but it will even boost your economy with influence in baltic tn . And by 1530 when prussians almost always form you can already have pretty much 1k dev and 120k of mp pool with QUALITY . Cossacks are really op rn because +100% to manpower from steppes is insane . Combine it with orthodox +33 and your national 58 and even without quantity you have pretty much the biggest mp pool by far . At least in single or lobby with small amount of people .
The historical-ish borders tell me he picked a scenario and this is him like a few years after the start of the game where Austria pushed southwards, Prussia westerward and him south towards India
@@sephikong8323 yes, i once started as england in 1500 and declare trade war against france. it is free 1000 ducats every 5 years, since they can not defeat your navy and attack you thru the land
If Prussia would have had more lands and people they would not be able to keep a high quality troops. Same with any other country. A high quality possible only with a small groups.
Prussia is limited by governing capacity very hard . And there's ae for them which doesnt bother you at all after 1530s . Plus you always can expand into transoxiana and persia or colonize siberia and take out china and indonesia . Russia has way more opportunities and waaay better snowball all the game . And it could prevent prussia from forming if player will decide to . You can even ally poland as russia if its an ai .
it reminds me a war i made as gauls against rome in imperator rome Rome had the same amount of troops i had but had a much better overall quality of army I only had the manpower And while i lost every single battle, rome started to run out of manpower At the end i just destroyed their armies before I had to sue for peace as my manpower wasn't recovering fast enough xd
@@busty960 so what Ahmet said is not entirely true. You have a maximum combat width (CW) which is more or less how many infantry and artillery you wanna have in one battle. So imagine we have 32 CW. You wanna have 32 infantry and 32 artillery in the battle at first. Every additional unit will just sit in reverse while still taking morale damage each tick. The perfect reinforce would be the tick in which those reach 0.01 morale you'd reinforce with another 32/0/32 stack meaning you'd be back up to 50% morale overall. At least that is my understanding. Might not be entirely correct but my best guess is that arumba made a vid about it lmak
Jan Knoblich actually you don’t want to reinforce with arty since they don’t take morale damage on tha back row. One of the big reasons to not overstack is that regiments in reserve (ones that are in the battle but not actually fighting) take passive morale damage even though they’re not in combat, it’s not much (like .03 per tick or something) but once you get to like 200-300k troops in battles it really adds up. Also those stacks are atrocious, you want full combat width inf (+like another half combat width in case you mess up reinforcements) and combat width artillery in your main combat stacks, and then pure inf combat width reinforcement stacks. Another thing to note is that most battles are decided when artillery goes to the frontline, either from a late reinforcement or just plain running out of troops to reinforce with.

im firm believer that in eu4 quantity wins over quality in majority of cases. unless you get stack wiped each time you engage, your enemy will sooner or later get out of manpower.
Considering their size, a Prussian Player would have 180k by 1650 now going quant+eco+Quality and russia would be fucked two out of three times engagement
And russian player would have 2.5kk manpower because of cossacks and steppes . And you can take religious + quant + qual and have better morale . Plus you have streltsky and -10% fd recieved which is +10/-10 and this is big . I dont remember tho when prussians get their era bonus . If its abs then you'll probably lose a lot of troops . But sadly quantity is still overrides quality in eu4 . You'll just recover too much per months plus you can raise strelsky without manpower needed which is huge . And orthodox is better overall , so +/- russia is stronger .
