@@c17bykenshi67 well he won using strategy if you think about it. Russian roulette would be random but he thought about where the bullet is, like in minesweeper (where the mines are). Shooting at the sack is like flagging where the mines are. And clicking a mine in minesweeper accidentally is like pulling the trigger when you're aiming at your head and actually firing a bullet. It's really similar if you think about it.

However there is no way a broadcaster would allow that trick to happen as it was presented. James knew what chamber to use beforehand and Derren added some drama with pretending he mistakenly choose the wrong chamber with "live round" at his first try. I don't think they even use a live round when the armourer took his shoot (it's extremely unlikely that there were live rounds anywhere near the site of this show, and impossible for the armourer to willingly mix live rounds with blanks).

If you pull the trigger hard enough on a revolver it will lift the hammer and fire. Besides, if he did pull back the hammer, he could see the bullet/empty chamber.

Its referred to as a Double Action Revolver, when pulled without pulling the hammer the trigger squeeze takes quite a bit more force if he pulls the hammer back then the squeeze takes little force to shoot.
