It’s actually very beneficial once you go over the max output of 1 battery as you can chose the order in which you lose power to things by putting those things last in the circuit

In rust, parallel and series are sorta backwards from parallel and series IRL. Something I think everyone should take note of when jumping into electricity in rust. IRL, parallel increases capacity, but in rust, series increases capacity. Totally inverted lol Thanks for the video!

yes, as someone who uses this stuff in real life it drives me crazy
@ass_fat5509

yes they had it wrong, a little frustrating to see, they usually gets stuff like that fairly spot on. i wonder if it was a mistake or they did it cuz it seems to make sense to ppl that dont know electrical. there would be many many house fires in rust if the electrical systems were combustible. crazy how wrong it was last time i looked.

they dont really have it on as they are not really using "Volt" rating they are only using Watts, Rust watts (this is why you have just one line going to items vs 2 (common, neutral in real life) so you cant think of it as the same system we have as its only using watts (capacity in watt hours) I didnt know that it was doubling on the batteries, that defeats putting them in in combiner.. seems like we will need multiple Nih Cores in a base

Thank you for putting this together. It gives me options as I am the electrician for a 15-20 man that love turrets. We had 85 in our last base.

Brilliant stuff as we had discussed this and we know not to waste our energy doing it…. Thank you

Appreciate the video. Beginner Rustrician trying to learn the ropes, and couldn't understand why all my batteries were being put under the same load.

combined with the nicore parallel batteries as backup work just fine. I always do it that way. in addition I have multiple smaller circuits spread out in the base

Seems like a branch coming off of each battery before the combiners would solve quite a few use cases if it divvied up the active usage, provided the extra rW for each one was worth it.

I've never had a need to do this, but great information to have - I would have never expected the need to double charge! Great video, Austin 😄 clear and concise as usual!

Thanks! I've only had to run parallel once and I used a large battery and a car battery to make up a few rW. But yeah it's pretty rare to require this.

ive use the charging of 2+ batterys but never do the root combiner for 200 Rw i run 9 turrest off 1 battery and the base off the other ... again great video !!!! can you show me how to get that charging system ... haha jk i know its admin things

I was looking for a video like this for half a year. Short easy explanation: You need to generate 125 power (or more) going into 1 large battery in order for you to draw 100 power Without losing charge. Because a battery is 80% efficient with power.

I’m someone who has a lot of turrets. I just with I could find a way to shut off all my turrets from 1 switch. I hate going from battery to battery when I’m checking ammo/authing someone

ref 3:30 erm... pardon me, but parallel would not increase volts, it would increase capacity. Series would increase volts. So you would not see 200 on the output unless in series.

Rust is backwards, so in this context he is correct. Quite confusing the first time I was learning rust wiring lol
@Defianthuman

I would just run them in series with the first battery powering the next.
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Месяц назад
That doesn't work in RUST. Batteries only accept 80% of the power arriving at their input.

i make multiple battery rooms that all stand alone " its more expensive but if a few turrets live to save the base it worth"
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Год назад
I do the same thing. I like to also place the battery rooms on the opposite floors of the turrets to prevent raiders from shutting down the floor they're on.

I create the images in Snappa, and then use the RUST plugin Sign Artist to paste them onto the frame.

This would be an example of running batteries in series. Running batteries in parallel increases their total capacity. It's a little frustrating because the verbage on the batteries susceptible in game is incorrect.
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Год назад
Yep. Players know it this way so I just went with it. I've considered trying to correct the terminology in a "tips" video or something in the future.
@beefnuts2941
@beefnuts2941 9 месяцев назад
How it is hooked up here in the video is correctly parallel as you would wire it parallel in real life. The terminology the game uses for power and how the power works is what's inaccurate and simplified compared to real life. In other words, the parallel / series terminology refers to the wiring to the negative/positive terminals, the effect it has on the device wired is not relevant to the chosen terminology.

Is this dude an electrician/engineer in real life? I swear he talks about this stuff like he does it every day.
@ass_fat5509

sad we cant just hook more than one wire to each battery terminal, you know, like irl hehe
